Thanks Bob and Dave!!

Managed to test fit the interior in place and get the dash adhered to the interior tub in just the right position. Before I went any further I did one more stance check to make sure that it was where I wanted it.........and .....although I might raise it in the front juuuuuuuuuuuuust a tad.....it is where I want it in regards to rake.

Every now and then people in business will take the time to listen to a consumer and make necessary changes. I spoke with Eric Oberhofer at Round 2 at the beginning of September in regards to the AMT 67 Mustang Fastback issues. One of the issues involved the tires that came in the kit which were Firestone Super Sports tires instead of the Firestone Wide O Oval tires that were on the box top. He had mentioned that he was going to bring this issue up in the next board meeting. Meanwhile I had received a set of Wide O Oval decals from a friend of mine on the forums. After removing the Super Sports logos from the sides of the tires and had applied those, however, they looked too big and I was left scratching my head at what I was going to do next. I decided to go down to Hobby Lobby and purchase another kit and use the Super Sports tires...........BUT............when I opened the box of the newly purchased kit I found..........a set of Wide O Oval tires now in the box!!!!!! A BIG shout out goes to Eric and the Round 2 team involved in making this change.

Before the change this is what came in the box....

and this is now what comes in the box. Here mounted on my newly painted & detailed wheels. Just gotta spin the tires up on a socket in my drill to give that tire tread a worn look.

After reading this I opened my kit up and low and behold, it had the wide ovals in it too! ??

Thank you all very much. I've been out of the loop on this build for the last few weeks here but will be catching up to where I'm at now. Not that much more really but am still plugging away at it.

Thanks Carl.

Well......I knew I was gonna need to have more room topside the engine bay so that the air cleaner wouldn't contact the hood so I got to thinkin..... http://www.spamodeler.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_hmm.GIF . I've got the AMT GT-500 kit in the stash with a good factory scoop on it but the hood wouldn't interchange with the regular Mustang because the nose piece on the GT-350 is longer. So why not just use the scoop? So I went to work and scribed the cut out area that I needed to start removing the scoop from the GT-350 hood.

All cut out and ready for trimming up to the sides of the scoop:

A slight bit of clean up remains but I just sanded up to the sides and the sanded the front from the bottom till I was able to remove the areas right in front of the air intake

A little more clean up and I'll start working this into the hood after I cut out the opening in the Fastback hood for the air cleaner to sit up into.

Looking good Joe.

Thanks Ray. I'm pretty nervous about the whole hood thing really in regards to getting the center ridge to look seamless with that hood scoop.

Nice blue Joe!?  It's going to look different than the usual colors we see on these Mustangs.  Are you going to use the white stripes?  What brand of paint did you use, it's not a color we see often.

Thank you all so very much. It's been a few weeks since I have been at the bench....or at home for that matter.

I've been out now for the better part of 2-1/2 weeks. Over Christmas break, both of my parents contracted Covid and dad did pretty well through the whole thing and has since recovered. Mom......didn't fare as well. Her bout with it turned into Covid pneumonia. Dad tried to get her to go to the hospital for four days and on the fourth day he called 911 and had the paramedics come to her. She was arguing with the paramedics that she didn't need to go to the hospital.....with blue lips and finger tips. Finally the medics talked her into going in and within hours she was put on a ventilator for the next 10 days. It was simply too late though as her kidneys and other organs started shutting down on the 10th day. When dad made the call to take her off of the ventilator Mom, Lynell Kay Shaw, passed away on Sunday, January 23rd peacefully 10 minutes later at 3:15 pm and with all of us gathered around as she took her last breath. We buried her on Thursday in Bowie with more than 200 people present for the funeral.
I brought my family back to Corpus and went back up to Bowie to spend a week with my dad which turned out to be a very good thing. Internet is a splotchy thing up there so I haven't been on for a while. I'm back home as of yesterday and will be getting my feet wet around here once again. Progress coming guys......

I'm sorry for your loss Joe. I lost my Mom years ago so I know the impact that that loss can have.

May you find some peace and comfort in the days ahead.

My condolences as well Joe, that is not an easy way to lose a parent, went through some of that 2 years ago with my Mom, though she was already not fully with it by the time the EMS crew arrived.

It's a very sad news that you bring us Joe, we all know that we are going to lose our parents one day or another but it's sad that it's due to this d-a-m-n virus, it will have taken away many people much too early... Take care of yourself and your loved ones, the hobby can wait!
