Smoke Wagon Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) Built box stock except for the turn signal lever and ladder rack. This is my first heavily weathered build, so any criticisms and tips are welcomed. Paint is (was) Rustoleum 2X gloss white. Fender is in satin gray, and the hood’s finish was a happy little accident. Rust holes and dents were made with hot needles and a hobby knife. Anyways, here it is, your average 2-year-old Dodge from the UP: Thanks for looking. Edited January 27, 2022 by Smoke Wagon 8
Rob Hall Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Nice build...some realistic weathering...I've seen old trucks with the mashed top edge of the tailgate like that, looks like metal! 1
happy grumpy Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Excellent weathering, you picked the perfect color to show the rust. The rust , grime and dents make it a perfect used truck. This my favorite body style dodge pick up.
NOBLNG Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Nice job! That is one very realistic looking work truck.?
Smoke Wagon Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 Thank you gentlemen. 6 hours ago, happy grumpy said: This my favorite body style dodge pick up. These are good looking trucks (except when they’re weathered into swiss cheese). Dodge’s Adult Toys were pretty cool as well. That makes me wonder if Round2 is able to reissue the Warlock; that one’s my favorite from the Adult Toy lineup.
iamsuperdan Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 I think you nailed the weathering! Especially underhood. Great work!
Keavdog Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 That looks awesome. The rear bumper is my favorite part - that looks so real. Only suggestion would be to put a light wash over the lumber in the bed. Otherwise it looks fantastic.
Spottedlaurel Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 That looks really good, very effective. Easy to visualise that hard at work and giving faithful service to its owner.
mchook Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 That came out great! Your weathering is perfect, not overdone at all. It's funny, I've built a bunch of these Dodge trucks and I always make the hood flat black too. Great minds I guess.?
Smoke Wagon Posted January 31, 2022 Author Posted January 31, 2022 Thanks again guys. 12 hours ago, mchook said: I always make the hood flat black too I’ll tell ya hwat man, these dang ol Dodges n’ engine fires n primer n rust, dang ol liabilties man.
Bainford Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Good looking beater. That's one hard working Dodge. Nice work on the body damage. Well done.
bogger44 Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Outstanding job on this ol beater! I love the tailgate damage. The rust stains at the mirror mounts and fuel door stains are a great touch too. Well done!
kruleworld Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 i love the weather beaten look. good job
