Lobo2me Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 After visiting an old pal, I gave him a replica of his 1971 Plymouth Duster as a "thank you" for his (and his better half's) hospitality. He bought the car through the govt. procurement program while serving in the Navy during Vietnam. After retirement he brought the car back up to snuff (including with a few non-factory, but all approved options). Today he drives the prized Duster to car shows all around the mid-west. This was my first attempt at opening doors (with proper "inside the fender" hinges) and trunk. The govt. issued dog tag is there as delivered, on the inside left fender next to the battery. 5
Keavdog Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 What a great gift. Great build and the open doors look fantastic. Big fan of these Mopars.
Bainford Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Great looking Duster, both model and 1:1. Nice work on the doors and deck lid and all around great detailing. Very well done!
Hi-Po Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Beautifully done! The attention to detail is spot on.
Lunajammer Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Whoa, super job. Looks like you got the stance right on too.
Claude Thibodeau Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Hi Steve! Well, I can't think of a better gift to a dear friend. Your execution is spectacular, bravo! I'm very impressed by your door hinges. I know this variety is more work than the "hidden/suicide" type. Great! CT 1
Venom Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Wow, very cool work and the likeness to the 1:1 is spot on ... Opening doors and trunk are always a special treat, and being your first makes it even more impressive yet?? 1

cobraman Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 You did a great job. I'm sure your friend was blown away.
1972coronet Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 OUTSTANDING!! Tasteful mods, too, which your replica capture perfectly! Looks like GB7 Evening Blue Metallic -- my favourite shade of the two 'B7' formulas.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Very nice work, and a great looking replica to the cool looking 1:1!
bisc63 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Wow! Great looking Mopar, and great looking model! Love the understated look of the steelies and redlines. Nicely done, and a nice gesture on your part.

espo Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Beautiful looking reproduction. I agree with everyone else on the doors and trunk hinges. You even got your friends wheel and tire treatment perfectly. nice that your friend had the foresight to hang on to the car thru the years.
