and if this leads to better electric cars, even better.

Lots of manufacturers do say that what they learn on the track will make its way into the cars we can buy.

So in theory, E-racing should give us improved EV tech for the road.

Good racing?  OK, I guess.  Spectacle?  No way and thus no attraction.  I'd put it on the same level as those video game/racing simulator races that were broadcast during the pandemic just for something to put on the air.  I found a whole lot of other things to do at the time.

Gimme your thoughts on this newfangled ELECTRIC Cup Car they’re debuting. Where do you think they want to go with this?

Do you really got to ask? Picture this… lead car far ahead from the pack, races to finish line, he’s almost there… runs out of charge by mere 10 feet. EPIC FAIL!!!!!  Yeah…. that sounds exciting……

Here’s the thing NASCAR folks fail at simple logic… everybody knows EV fires CANNOT be put out with water but with special foam specifically for EV batteries. Now imagine a 10 car pile up on turn 3. You might as well end the race due to toxic smoke from those EV batteries.

I have no interest in anything but my train set. I am tired of EV talk. Not here but on television. I feel like it’s Ev and that’s the only choice you have to buy at the car dealership. So I don’t want to watch electric nascar..

Not anymore. The Big Three auto makers have already said they are no longer going to manufacture EV automobiles. They’re already losing millions of $$$$ already with current EVs unsold on dealer lots across the country.

not really a surprise. people buying used cars didn't buy them because if they had the money to install the charging system at home they wouldn't be buying a used car. used car buyers aren't going to spend the same again to be able to use the car they just bought. and the green lobby completely missed this point when they handed subsidies to the people that could afford the evs already, instead of using it to push the second hand market because thats where most cars are sold each year and where the biggest green gains are to be made because those are where the poluting cars are. your new golf is always going be much cleaner running than your 75 year old beetle. if the original buyers cant sell their old car because its an ev, then they aren't going to buy one again. at the moment an ev is better as a lease car than a bought car and its going to be that way for a long time yet

I remember a cartoon in road and track many years ago. There was a couple from the late 1800’s in the city walking and the guy stepped in horse dung. The caption was “ I sure hope we get rid of these horses and have more cars. “ Well in the 70’s in Los Angeles there was a lot of smog. I was in high school and I heard a couple say “ I sure hope electric cars come out soon”. I have went to school for these electric cars . And do not like them at all. I need sound. Pistons , gas engines. I have been to most of the great racing circuits in the world and without the sound , the race would not be the same.  I was at Daytona a few years ago and if there was no sound off those high banks, forget it. But technology is comming guys, AI the whole lot. We may hate it but it’s comming. Actually it’s here. I have a few friends that have bought Tesla’s last year. They are pretty wild. But still not for me. I would not attend an electric race. Now the laferrari that is not totally electric might work.

Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one. My belly button doesn't like the idea of EV's racing in NASCAR. But I have lost interest in NASCAR for the last couple of decades based on what I felt were unwise changes to the entire racing formats and rules. I'm also not a fan of EV's in general, so depending on your own personal feelings about them, you understand that my opinion is different. I often look in on European Rally Car Racing on You Tube. There are a few EV"S starting to show up there as well. They make a sound like an early science fiction vehicle, more of a wherry sound.
