majel Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 This is my rendition of the Tamiya 1966 Volkswagen. I built it strictly out of the box, it's a great little kit. My only regret is that I didn't take any pictures of the interior before installing the body. The interior is two tone; Tamiya Buff and body color. The body was painted with original Volkswagen paint. According to the paint can the color is Olympia Blue. Right now we're getting rain on the left coast so I couldn't get any outside pictures. The color appears darker on the camera than it is in person. 11
happy grumpy Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 good looking bug, the Tamiya kit is really good , I built several of these .
ncbuckeye67 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Very nice! I painted my Revell 68 Beetle a shade close to that blue.
TransAmMike Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Super nice little Bug!! Cool about the actual VW paint. Great job Jim?
Safire6 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Very nice bug, I like the color you used on the wheels also!
Zippi Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Now that's a good looking Bug Jim. Great looking color. It reminds me of the shop my Fater in-law use to run. He loved the VW's.
espo Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Like the original looking finish and trim. Very cleanly detailed trim and colors.
TarheelRick Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Indeed, a beautiful Beetle. Makes me think I may want to ditch my Pinto and see if I can find another Beetle to replace it.
Rattlecan Dan Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 Looks very original. Great build. Boy were they fun to drive.
XYHARRY Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 This is a nice kit and your version of it is very clean. Well done Jim. Cheers, David. ??
