Bainford
They walk among us. I'm going to remember the harmonica-tied-to-the-grill trick, though. 😈
Fat Brian
I'm subscribed to that channel, the amount of people who just cover things with spray foam is truly astonishing.

To many people don't even know how to properly drive an automobile let alone try and figure out what may or may not be wrong. Perhaps they should take up brain surgery as a new hobby. 1
Miatatom
I watch some of these now and then. The vegetable oil swap was the best. Some folks just don't bother to think much.

Probably read somewhere on the internet that it was OK. After all...Castrol was made from beans, so it's all the exact same thing, right? https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/castrol Edited February 23 by Ace-Garageguy
iamsuperdan
Have followed that channel for some time, and it always makes me chuckle. Because I've seen half of this nonsense in person at the dealerships I've worked at. I remember one bozo in particular. I was a working for Porsche and sold a new 911 to a guy. He was a real piece of...work. We knew nothing, he was the expert of all things, and we should be thanking him for allowing us to be in his presence. Tried to go through the delivery process and walk him through the car and it's features. Well of course, he knows it all and why would we even try to explain things that a baby knows? Two days later, the car is towed in, and he's irate. Car won't start, you guys sold me a piece of junk. I'm suing. I'm telling everyone that Porsche is junk. I'm calling the bosses in Germany. I want my trade back. I want a full refund, plus you owe me some compensation for my troubles. Had a look at the car. "So umm...why didn't you put gas in it?" "What?" "You're out of gas. It's empty." "Impossible. The car should have a light or something." "Yeah, here's the fuel gauge and the bright light that comes on when it gets below 1/4 tank. And here's the message in the center of the instrument cluster about low fuel level and remaining range." It was hard not to smile while explaining that he needed to put fuel in the car. And he noticed that too.

Reminds me of the old joke about the difference between (some) Porsche owners and porcupines. On another Porsche note...I've seen more 1972 911s that had their oil dry-sump tanks filled with gasoline than I could have believed possible in a "rational" world, with subsequent major engine damage. You may recall that '72 was the only year Porsche put the oil filler/dipstick on the RH quarter panel behind the door, which I particularly liked. It was WAY more convenient if you were dressed nice, and the forward location of the dry-sump tank marginally improved weight distribution...always a good thing on an early 911, Porsche moved it back to the engine bay for '73. POC and other club people insist it was moved back to comply with "safety" regs, and that the whole "filled the sump with gas" thing is a myth...probably because they don't want to acknowledge that a fellow Porsche owner could possibly be so stupid, or so not-paying-attention when the gas jockey was working his magic. But it's true kiddies. I've seen the ruined rod bearings. EDIT: I've seen a fair number of Oldsmobile diesels filled with gas too, but that's a whole 'nother story. stitchdup
I worked in a petrol station for a few months when i was younger. I've watched people fill up the oil right to the top then get confused why the dipstick doesn't work any more (clue, more than one dipstick in this story) I watched someone get irate that i kept stopping the fuel feed when they were flling up their transit pick up. The transit pick up had a cut down van front for the cab but it still had the fuel flap but only a hole ahint it cos its pretty obvious the large pipe with the yellow cap saying fuel on it coming out of the tank is the filler but no, this guy insisted he was right, poured loads of gas on his feet, paid and ran out of gas before making it to the road but somehow the pump was faulty. Or the college janitor that knew better than me, the lowly temp cleaner, and used boiling water and industrial bleach to unblock a toilet, and when that didn't work added industrial drain unblocker (used for fatbergs) that caused the toilet contents to fountian straight up in face followed by a cloud of pretty nasty chemical gas that caused the college to have to shut down for a week and get specialist cleaners called in at over a 150k. he's now the building manager?
