Lunajammer Posted February 13 Posted February 13 On my FB feeds today. I tried to find the famous modelers thread on this forum and just add this there but various search efforts failed to find it. I'm sure someone here has it bookmarked. "Actor Peter Cushing demonstrates his hobby of making model aircraft at his home in Whitstable, UK, February 1959." 6
Can-Con Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Lots of famous people in music who built car models too such as Randy Meisner and the Van Halen brothers. 1

Deathgoblin Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I understand Frank Sinatra had model trains as well. He was a big enthusiast from what I understand. 1
Jim B Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I heard somewhere that Catherine Bell from J.A.G. fame built model cars. As far as Rod Stewart's model railroad, it just goes to show what artistic talent & a whole lot of money can achieve. That railroad is outstanding, and probably beyond reach of us "mere mortals". 2

Something that size is likely out of reach for most of us, but achieving that level of craftsmanship and detail is certainly possible on a 4X8 layout, or even a small module or diorama. That still requires a lot of artistic ability, talent, & time. I can't speak from everyone, but I'm definitely short of all three. 1
Old Buckaroo Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Sam Posey the Indy race car driver was also a Model Railroader. I remember this subject came up on maybe (?) another forum years ago and there was several "A listers" that built models. 2

Bugatti Fan Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Rod Stewart has moved all his model railway layout back to England from the USA fairly recently. I read that many of the individual layout models were built by Rod in various hotel rooms whilst on tour instead of going out on the town. There is a model railway club in the UK where some yobs broke into their building and trashed their model railway layout. Rod got to hear about it and gave them a very generous donation towards getting it back together. 6

I read about that in one of he US model railroad mags. Sometimes it's hard to believe what kind of mindlessly destructive people there are in the world. I don't understand... 1

As a very young kid I saw him in Virginia City, NV discussing such a purchase with the shop owner circa 1964 or such. A later magazine article confirmed his interest. His son Steve March Torme is a local radio DJ in my town & that's how I heard of his modeling hobby. 1
Daddyfink Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Eric Clapton built models during his "Rehab" period and apparently picked up the hobby. 2
stavanzer Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Country Musician Charlie Daniels was a Model Car Builder. He even wrote a couple Letters that were published in the Old Scale Auto magazine. Supposedly He Built NASCAR Kits, and other Cars. 2
