Ace-Garageguy Posted December 6 Posted December 6 (edited) So...y'all were worried about AI and robots replacing you in your jobs? Well, pets need to be learning new skillsets to stay relevant too: Edited December 6 by Ace-Garageguy punctiliousness 1
iamsuperdan Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Well...there it is. The stupidest thing I'll see today. AI can't replace a pet. I mean, will AI require a $5000 MRI, and physiotherapy once a month for most of a year to deal with an fibro-cartilligenous embolism? I think not. 6

ranma Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Not being bright are we as Humans! AI will more than likely follow the movie! 1

TarheelRick Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I was also thinking 'pet rock' than another rather useless emotional item crossed my mind, the 'mood ring'. I may be stepping on some toes here, but another phenomenon that has taken over the country is 'service dogs'. I do realize the good they accomplish for the people who need them. My beef is with all these war-painted soccer moms who can't stand being away from "fifi" long enough to buy groceries and have to bring their dog into the store with them. 2 4

The whole 'service animal' thing is becoming kind of a joke, man...... More of a money racket than anything else! With enough funds, you too can have your elephant registered as a service pet! Emmett is a registered ESA with a real company. He doesn't get to go into stores or any of that, as he's 'just' an ESA. I felt no need to go full-blown service dog with his registration, as I don't feel that entitled............ 4 1
stitchdup Posted December 6 Posted December 6 can i just remind everyone that its not that long since a lot of people were hunting pokemon 1 3

Bugatti Fan Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Bots and AI replacing pets ? With vets fees being what they are. Who knows ? I think that I will settle for a real cat or dog you can relate to any day. Vets fees, poo clearing and and fur balls included ! 3 2

Customer service and "repairs" being what they are for consumer-grade electronics, when the mecha furball dies, you'll just have to buy another one. And no worries about burying the old one, 'cause it won't rot. 2
HomerS Posted Sunday at 07:03 PM Posted Sunday at 07:03 PM At least there is no 'yard patrol' needed to clean up the landmines.... 2 1
Goose1957 Posted Sunday at 07:29 PM Posted Sunday at 07:29 PM And between the pet rock and Pokémon were furbies. Every generation has it's suckers. (Ok, I admit to owning a couple of furbies, I just sold them at my yard sale this past summer). Jeff 2
stavanzer Posted Monday at 12:10 AM Posted Monday at 12:10 AM I'll stick with my Rottweiler. She can be a PITA, sometimes, but I've never had a pet that was as much fun and affectionate as her. She is always Cheerful and Wants to Play..... All Day Long! 2
Nazz Posted Thursday at 10:32 PM Posted Thursday at 10:32 PM That would be one hell of an expensive chew toy. Sorry Diesel, Whiskey and Bandit, not this year. Jerry 1 1
rattle can man Posted yesterday at 01:44 AM Posted yesterday at 01:44 AM For the average healthy person, I'd say no. But a robotic pet could be beneficial/ comforting for people with demantia/ other mental health issues. Something to calm them and low maintenance for caregivers. And you don't have to worry about it dying and dealing with the issues that could cause. 2
