Ever since I saw what a great looking model Tyler62990 made with this kit, I've had to have one. Found a decent deal on a sealed virgin, and it arrived today.

Anybody who likes trucks and hasn't seen this one, well, you need to.

It's been, frankly, too big for a while. It's doubtful I'll get to all of what I want to build, but while I still have some discretionary income, I'm trying to get the kits I have ideas for while I can. They're surely not getting cheaper. This site is certainly responsible for exposing me to a lot of kits I would have never known about otherwise...and making me want them. Seeing other people's work is tremendously inspiring too, and not a day passes when I don't learn something new here. Now, to find the time to get back at the bench regularly again...

Wife and I were out of town last week. But the mail man dropped off a few goodies while were away playing in the Arizona  desert .

A set of Modelhaus resin Howards  mag wheels so I can get started on my Sox and Martin 64 Comet,,, sooner than later.

Also, I did a trade with my extra 1960 Bonneville to get a 2nd Johan 1959 Fury builtup. Although I'm not exactly sure my plans for this one. Might see if the skirts will come off without a fuss  and build it stock. Or use it as trade material ( the one I already have is a little better shape than this one )

Went to a train swap meet on the weekend with my dad. Found a couple of kits. I like dealing with train guys, because they don't give a hoot about models, so want to be rid of them.

 

These were both factory sealed, and cost me $15.

Never even heard of Wisconsin Premium, and I live in Wisconsin.

speaking of cheap swill beers... back in the late 1970s (Billy Beer era)  beer can collecting was a big hobby.  There was one brewery in NJ called Hammondton Brewing Company that put out series after series of cans for collectors.  The beer inside was pure swill. Nobody could get drunk from it because you'd get an awful headache upon drinking one or two of them.   The worse beer they made (it was all the same beer) was Canadian Ace Beer that came in plastic 64 ounce bottles like Coke bottles.      Makes me shiver to this day!

Finally, got one I've been trying to get for awhile: Heller Citroën Type H. You guys have your Charger's and Camaro's, customs and hot rods, etc.; but some of us build to a different drumbeat (or an entire band as some people have accused me since my favorite one is The Residents). Still trying to find a Mehari.

Picked up this Greenlight diecast Shasta trailer at HL yesterday; since I can't leave well enough alone I added a set of '57 Plymouth-style cone wheelcovers from the parts box over the modern wheels:

Now for an appropriate wagon to tow it:

Picked up this Greenlight diecast Shasta trailer at HL yesterday...

I've never seen that Greenlight Shasta in the Hobby Lobby closest to me.  But I just checked and it's on their website. 

At the Freetime Hobbies open house 2 weeks ago, I saw one for $19.99 and grabbed it.  (It's currently showing as "Out of Stock" on their website.)  Couldn't resist, especially since it has an interior. Even if you can't see much of that interior thru the jalousie windows!

And I 'don't think ' I have a 64 Bonneville ow my own , to be honest Ive kind of lost track . Luckily Ive been keeping an excel spread sheet to keep track of what I do and don't have of the ones I want to get.

I'll usually tag a kit box with notes on blue tape as to the general plan, then once it goes into "progress", I'll keep notes and sketches in the box. There's just too much stuff to remember otherwise.

Franklin Mint Continental MkII. I'm not much of a diecast collector, but when there's just no other option for something I really want...or the price is very low on a subject that can make an interesting custom (broken, scratched, etc.), I'll bite. Zero luck after years of looking for a decent MkII promo in 1/25, and they're kinda crude anyway; pretty OK with having got this one for around $55, shipped. Very minor hangar rash that will easily polish out, all packaging and docs included. Many thanks to SfanGoch for the heads-up.

Good luck - they only had this one in Deerfield; the Schaumburg store only had one Winnebago. At least with the coupon you'll get it for under $20 plus tax.

The Toys R Us near me had a bunch of these in different colors and styles.  Each HL near me has had one on the shelf.  HL stores are eerie!  You can go to three different stores and they are exactly the same, down to the items on the pegboard.  It's like you entered a different dimension and they're all the same store.

If your body is not salvageable, contact me. I have an Seville/JoHan re-pop promo from the late 70's that I'd be willing to let go at a reasonable price. The last I saw of it, it was still in mint condition. 

looking at it..... I think the skirts  are on with minimul giue. So would probably come off without to much fuss. 

 

Now. Will I do anything with it ? .....probably not. The other one I have is near mint.

Odds are this one will be nothing but  trade bait to get something I don't already have.
