modelercarl Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 I got this 1951 Chevrolet kit today, saw it on eBay last Saturday for a good price, and as I have been looking for another one for a while I bought it. In front of the kit is a build I did about 20 years ago after returning to the hobby after many years away. This represents the exact car that was my parents first NEW car ever. I was 10 years old when they bought and it replaced a late 30's Ford that I remember being a sedan. I have wanted to build another model to replace the first and hopefully improve the quality. I definitely have better painting equipment and skills, can do better on the BMF and will try to do more detailing.
Modlbldr Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Looks nice Carl! I look forward to seeing the "new and improved" version. Later-
ChrisBcritter Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 The '60 Vette showed up today - original issue as described with the working suspension; windshield and hardtop rear window have deep tire marks so I'll be looking for replacements.
OldNYJim Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 My wife’s aunt messaged me last week to say that she found a few kits, and asked whether I’d like them...and they came yesterday! My wife’s grandpa was a die-hard Studebaker fan and had both a lark and a Starliner...she thinks the white one was meant to be a replica of a 1:1 that he had. That one will be a stock-ish replica - not sure what to do with the Lark or the other 63 yet
espo Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 The "Modern Classics" version goes why back. Maybe just clean it up a little and keep as is for old time sacs.
gtx6970 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Another Johan 1969 Roadrunner, Like I really needed another one.,,,,,,,,BUT the price was right and its molded in white .

Interesting! I tried to look for a copyright date but couldn’t find one...how old are we talking, do you think?

Hotrod 97 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Got this today. Some more patterned craft paper to line the bottom of display cases, some more primer, a brass touch-up paint, and a 1/32 Scale 1960 Thunderbird.
alan barton Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Snake, the Monogram 54 Chevy had a six with tubing headers. Is it light blue or red plastic? They are the colours I am aware of. Cheers Alan
Straightliner59 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 I was rearranging some stuff in the shop and ran across a Johan Sox and Martin Superbird box. It had an AMT Blazer, in it. A few minutes later, going through another box, I found almost the entire Superbird kit, much of it still on the sprues! The only things I didn't find were the airfoil (both supports are there) and the rear bumper. I have seen the airfoil around here, recently, and probably have the bumper. It's prettycool, to find something like that, you didn't realize you had!

OldNYJim Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Wow, it’s older than I thought! Thanks everyone - kit is currently in the freezer getting ready for it’s restoration
OldNYJim Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Oh, and by the way - they don’t sell THIS for 25 cents anymore! ?
espo Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 4 minutes ago, CabDriver said: Oh, and by the way - they don’t sell THIS for 25 cents anymore! ? If that has never been opened it may still be good. I have a couple from this era and they were fine when I opened them. Should this have been opened years ago it would depend on how well someone resealed it. You have a 50/50 chance at best.

The Junkman Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 The current issue Revell '32 Ford 5 window at Michaels w/50% off coupon. I've got the 3 window version but somehow the 5 window got by me. Leafing through old issues of Hot Rod Journal as we speak, for research purposes of course.
Modlbldr Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Got a few parts kits from a friend today. Did a quick peruse of the boxes. Dan Fink Speedwagon, just missing tires and wheels as far as I can tell. An old issue of the Mod Rod kit, missing about 1/2, and parts from a 41 Chevy pickup. Later-

Karl LaFong Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 I picked up this '68 (MPC?) Chevy truck at a house sale today. It set me back a total of 5 bucks. It's brush painted and missing the rear bumper/taillight and tailgate, and the front of the bed is for the wrecker version, rather than the pickup version. Luckily, I have the wrecker sides, so I see a tow truck in this baby's future.
