bogger44 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Today's mail call. I've slowed down on my buying (or trying at least lol) the last year or so, but came across the Tamiya Lexus LFA for a fair price so I had to get it. Had been on my short list of must have kits for some time. Figured I'd get the Petty car while I was at it, too. The redlines, well, you can never have enough of them. 3

AMT68 Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 While I've heard mixed reviews on this kit I've also seen excellent completed examples. Thought I'd give it a shot. 1
Richard Bartrop Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 I orders the '32 Roadster and the Model A during a Cyber Monday sale, and when I went to the LHS to pick them up today, the Chrysler and the Model T were there on the shelf just begging me to take them home. The box damage is the is the result of the bus driver noticing a red light too late, but fortunately, the contents all look okay. 3

HomerS Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Estate sale find....All F/S....$25/each There were others but the boss moved the weekly department meeting to the time the doors opened so missed out on many others (not that I 'needed' these or any more) 5

The pic on the boxes is incorrect, the pillars on all full size GM cars in the mid '80s had a stainless steel trim peice that completely covered them. I'm kinda anal about those as the '76 I owned was one of my favorite cars that I owned. Looked almost identical to the one in the pic below except with different wheels and colour matched velour interior. Best "drive in" car ever ? Thanks for the info. I've started to scribble down little notes when I get advice like this and pop it into the box, as it could be months or even years before I get around to building them.... On Friday I received a mixture of new and secondhand items from an online retailer: I suspect the Malibu will end up with a few leftover parts from the 3-in-1 '70 Chevelle kit that I also have. I like that era of Monogram box art, evocative of the days when I first started visiting model shops, and it has extra appeal to me as a birth year build. Ditto the Galaxie, don't know yet whether that will be a stock daily driver, or maybe kept fairly subtle but with upgraded running gear and sat low (imagining it's on airbags). S&H Torino was cheap, I don't have enough slotmags in stock and one day it'll look good sat on a shelf of stock-ish/day 2 builds. It certainly won't be red with white stripes but maybe those decals will be good to recreate one of the terrible replicas that I would occasionally see, based on something entirely inappropriate. The Brat will look good with the AMT Hilux I'm finishing off at the moment. 2
Mike C. Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) Jumped on one of these before they're all gone. this will look nice behind my Volvo 780. I have an AMT Haulaway trailer in the trade section. Edited January 9, 2023 by Mike C. 2
HomerS Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Hobby Store had a 20% off sale before Christmas (Nissan was excluded). I gave up years ago of telling the family what I want so I Secret Santa'd myself! I have the six choppers but grabbed an extra one of this one to play with some of the unique paint colors out now..... 1

I normally like to do that but only local ones I’ve found were in the $50 range. I got the lamp and the pin vise set and a desk lamp for my wife’s work desk for around the same price. I’ve used it today quite a bit and I love it so far!

I like to stop in there from time to time.

A real torquey bike. I had a 250 Montessa Cota set up for ISDT type events and we had in our group a bunch of Suzuki RM250s, a Honda 250, a CZ 250.
