Ace-Garageguy Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Went to the ACME meet today and came away with a buncha stuff from Norm Veber and MCG I've wanted for some time, plus a few kits at great prices, some "junk" finds like a half-built Invader for $10, a built Black Force for $5, which is way less than the wheels/tires go for, etc. The one that got away I'm still kicking myself for is the complete unbodged MPC Astro Vette I missed. Didn't snag it on the spot, decided to go back and get it...it was gone. Ya'd think I wooda learned by now. 5
Falcon Ranchero Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Got Revell’s 2009 issue of the 1960 Impala kit and AMT’s 1962 Pontiac kit yesterday. Looking forward to building those up. Gotta 1966 Chevelle kit I have to do first though. 1

John M. Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 (edited) It's been a while since I got anything on E Bay so I can lower the balance on the plastic to a manageable level and got this 1965 Ford Galaxie to add to my promo fleet with it. It came in on Friday and cleaned it up when I got home from work. It came out great. Here it is on E Bay just as I bought it. Edited October 27, 2024 by John M. Misspelling. 6
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 (edited) At the ACME show yesterday I also bought a copy of How to Paint Scale Cars by Nestor Espinoza...which he signed for me. If you're not familiar with his work, you really should be. Besides being a master all-round painter, he's got weathering and simulated metal finishes down...and the book tells you how to do it. May as well learn from one of the best on the planet, and if the Maserati that's on the cover is anything to judge by...which was at the show...he is indeed one of the best ever. This also has to be the best how-to book I've ever seen, including info on decal work, realistic figure painting, etc. And though it is promoting the AMMO product line, it tells you exactly what to use and how to use it for world-class results. Ace-Garageguy Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 More good stuff that followed me home from yesterday's ACME show: Union Porsche 907/908, complete, unstarted, well under online asking prices. I already had some gloobombs, but the cherry kit will let me bugger it myownself. Union Ferrari 330 P4, also complete and unstarted, also under online asking, and it came with a gorgeous extra set of tires from MFH, worth more than the model itself. And a Tamiya Sauber-Mercedes C9, again NIB, unstarted, and cheaper than online, especially after shipping. This one will probably be donating its guts to do a phantasy C-111, based on the awful C-111 1/24 kit (I've forgotten the manufacturer...ARII?...but it's a better than starting with a potato...barely) I got a few years back. 9
Spottedlaurel Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Had a weekend away and managed to visit a couple of physical LHSs, one I knew about beforehand but the other was a pleasant surprise find. Great to get the 240Z. I may end up robbing/swapping some of the hi-po bits off it for my current CBR group build entry, which is the 240ZG kit Tamiya brought out a while back. Paints and materials always come in handy, the Plastruct angle is also needed for something on that CBR project. 6
dave branson Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 What i got this last weekend. T-Bird and Pontiac will become slot cars, and the Tamiya M8 was full of resin and photo etch parts in it. 4

niteowl7710 Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Catching up on this month's wares...I went to the Plastic Undercover Show outside of Akron. Then we have this month's HLJ crate. Got a few "regular" kits. And the rest of my lifetime supply of NuNu Hobby Porsche 911 RSRs and the corresponding etch set. I already have decals for all of these. 3
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 (edited) More stuff from the ACME show, so the AMT oldies part of the stash wouldn't feel left out if I didn't bring a present. Another '60 Ford Starliner, 'cause I've always loved 'em, and I wanna do a Sunliner convertible custom. Never had much interest in the '66 Nova SS until recently, when we had one in the shop that was restomodded by someone who had a very good eye for stance, wheels/tires. etc., and it looked every bit as good as anything on the road. This is, of course, an old kit, it was cheap...and I was very pleasantly surprised that it does not have a blobular chassis with everything molded in, as I'd expected. The one in the shop is a factory 327/350 horse 4-speed car, has a set of these in 18" on it, is mildly tubbed and lowered just enough, has a perfect rubber rake, is finished in a dark brownish red, has a dark camel leather interior, and is absolutely stunning. And fast. Edited October 28, 2024 by Ace-Garageguy CLARITY 3

Biggu Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 (edited) Maybe we need a section like this in the big truck thread….? Today my order came from 3D Concepts here in Canada. This is a fairly new company and they have some cool stuff for us truck guys. All I can say is WOW. Really nice products. Super smooth and very detailed. I ordered 2 sets of their exhaust tips and I was really impressed with the included styles and precision of printing and all the pipes are hollow which is really cool. I have one of the sets picked out for my Hayes conversion. i also ordered two styles of headache racks. One standard highway tractor and the other could and is used for heavy haul tractors. They are FANTASTIC! The rack includes chain hangers and mud flaps and the flaps are soft like real rubber! Outstanding pieces and will most definitely add super great realism to any truck build, I can't wait to use one. And then there is a tool box that could be used on a trailer or tractor. Another beautiful smooth sharp print. I also acquired a couple different styles of chain hangers that are of the same high quality and are finely printed. I placed my order and their communication was great and a few days later I got an email from Michael saying my order was being shipped the next day , last Friday and the order arrived today, Monday . So I can honestly say this is the fastest service I have EVER had. The packing was EXCELLENT as well........... Just for the record, I am in no way affiliated or have been paid in anyway from 3d Concepts, I just thought their product, communication and service deserved a huge shout out and maybe some of you guys may consider looking them up and help keep them in business. Sounds like they have some good ideas ahead. I’m looking forward to what comes next … Edited October 29, 2024 by Biggu 3

Those doors look like they will need considerable sanding. What do you think of the parts? 1
oldcarfan Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 No pictures, but I stopped at HobbyTown in Austin Tx and got one of AMT's redone 93 Chevy Silverados and the Revell Chevy Luv kit. 2

In real life they appear to be really smooth, maybe a lousy oic from my phone. A shot of primer and a light sand should do the trick I would think. One door is flat the other has a definition . The stacks are glass smooth as is the tool box.
Dpate Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Czech truck model photo etch came in today. I would have took closer shots of each one, but that would have been to many pics lol. Even though the Volvo comes with a photo etch grille set this one is much better, and has the Volvo on it as well. The Volvo badges contain the FH16 badge for the grille as well. 4
Bill Eh? Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Dusty, it's nice to see that you are going all in with this build. 2

HomerS Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Half empty display disappeared from the local Wally World and ended up on an end cap in toy section. Had to Scooby Doo back to the front to grab a cart. 8
stitchdup Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I wouldn't normally post something i've printed myself in here but i'm pleased to finally have a 37 lincoln. its scaled down from a multi piece rc body by macone1 on cults. i've got some parts printing again but thats down to me and not the files. there are seperate trim for the headlights, and the hood, fender trim and rear lights are included with it. some parts didn't come out 100% but if this was a damaged plastic kit we would fix it so parts that could be used will be repaired instead of dumped. i could have done this as a rag top also but for now i want a coupe. i've got independent suspension already printed for this and since i dont have a lincoln v12 yet i'm using a merlin ls7. oops, this isn't a build thread, can you tell i'm excited lol 8
