Carmak Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Been looking decades to find one of these. Found it locally and not on E-bay or Facebook. It's lightly started (engine and chassis). No tire burn or broken parts. 15

Having seen this car at SEMA 2021, I knew I would have to build one in scale. The only problem is I can't find any models of this car. The closest I came was a seller on ebay who makes 1/24 scale slot car bodies of the Kellison in vacuum-formed PETG. I picked up two and will try my hand at mounting one to a Shelby Cobra kit I have kicking around. Check out this link for photos of the 1:1 car: Did you ? I found a magazine on the shelf and thought like you. Edited May 15 by Ulf 4

Here's a blast from my past. Mind you, I was young. All spray cans and some rub on lettering. 🫣 9
#1 model citizen Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Looks like you used some different paint techniques that I’m still hesitant to try. Very interesting! 1

When you're young and have no shame, you get results anyway ya can. Mom's paper dooley's and lace ribbon worked wonders. 3

I never built a Van model but read and studied the "Van Magazines" to learn about body work and painting during my teen years. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 17 Posted May 17 1/24 Testors (Fujimi) Ferrari Dino 246 GT. I had high hopes for this one, but when it came in, I immediately saw the roof was partially crushed and the body is warped from something pressing down on the box for a long time (absolutely could not have happened in shipping), and the windshield was broken into two pieces. Very disappointing. No biggie on the windshield as I can make a better one easily enough, but the roof and warp add an order of magnitude of difficulty to building it...if I even CAN save it. Waiting to hear back from the seller to see whether he'll make it right. Half the reason I bought it was to have a 246 (already have the 206 Pininfarina Competizione), and half was to get the transverse-mounted Dino engine to pull molds from, to put resin engines in several Lancia Scorpions. Ah well. Life. 3 1
Tabbysdaddy Posted May 17 Posted May 17 My wife went to Daytona Beach to drop our daughter off at Rockville and found a place that sells models. Not so much a hobby shop but a place at the flea market that has both old and new. She surprised me with one she knew I wanted. 7

I've gotten some really good deals from him. 1

I do it whenever I buy a model there. Or just go to the website on your phone while in the store, works just fine also. Works out to about 30 bucks. 3 1

Ace-Garageguy Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Plugging a few more holes on the exotics shelf. Never had a whole lot of interest in the flared and bewinged Countach, but I always liked the clean first production version. Read the reviews, then bought both the 1/24 Aoshima and Fujimi Enthusiast versions of the Lamborghini Countach LP400. At first glance, I slightly prefer the Aoshima kit. Interestingly, and contrary to the reviews, BOTH kit bodies appear to be very well-proportioned and are almost identical in form and line. There are things I like and dislike about both kits, so maybe what gets built as a stocker will be a best-of mashup, and the remaining parts will go to build some insane hot-rod. 7
Deathgoblin Posted May 18 Posted May 18 New tool Revell Jaguar E-Type from Ollie's. I love Ollie's. 6
TarheelRick Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Attended the SCMA show in Simpsonville, just barely sold enough to cover my table fee. However, came home with some 3d slicks, front tires, and wheels (2 sets), decals, wheels and tires to build a '55 Chevy Hobby stock, an almost complete (bagged) Speedwagon, and a '63 Cobra kit. Bought the Cobra so I can copy the chassis for a sports car I have in mind. Also won a raffle Dragon A1Mi tank, it is in my for-sale box. 3
