Rough, but just what I wanted, and cheap. AMT "Styline" version of the 1963 Thunderbird hardtop, in a decent box with both stock bumpers and most of the Styline stuff, plus a few other cool little bitz.

Wrong chassis entirely, but the fairly recent '62 convertible repop chassis fits fine, naturally.

Missing lots of other stuff, but it's just like dragging a decent shell out of a junkyard to build something cool.  :D

I've wanted to do something like this for a long time, but with a very mild chop, and I prefer the sculptured side detail of the '63 over the rest of the spacebirds.

I used to think T-birds were chick cars when I was younger. Seeing customs like this changed my mind. That, and I'm old enough not to care what anyone else thinks any more.

Found at an estate sale on Friday: Six out of seven ain't bad, and they're still liquid inside.

Neat display. Unfortunately, the vintage AMT Trophy Series kit carton they had in their photos was gone when I got there:

I did make a lucky find there: a big box of slides that include about a dozen shots taken at the San Fernando drag strip circa 1960.

Those ‘stands’ are great, let’s everyone see what’s underneath without picking things up….

Would I be correct in guessing that this Hamlin kit is moulded in white and that the Truex kit is moulded in black?

That is correct Bill,  Hamlin's body is molded in white, MTJ's in black, and last two JGR kits probably won't be in white , so for now, if you want a molded in white Toyota body, Hamlins kit is the one to get.

I've been slowly working on converting the Revell '55 Chevy Bel Air Street Machine 2 'n 1 into my take on the Tom Daniel Badman. At some  point, I misplaced the hood. How I did this, I don't know as the size of the hood makes it fairly difficult to lose. LOL. Two weeks ago today I got in touch with Revell using their online portal. I told them the part number needed and took a picture of and attached the UPC code from the side of the box. They responded within a day of my request and told me that it would be shipped free of charge, and that it might take up to six weeks to receive. This is what arrived in my mail today:

Pretty good deal on a fairly recent 1/25 AMT 289 Cobra. I've got several 1/24 427 Cobra kits, but only gloobomb 289 cars. I like the lighter, more nimble 289, and having driven several in both displacements, I like the little one better for the street. And even a 289, when cammed up and running 4 two-throat Weber downdrafts can be really scary fast.

'57 and '58 Oldsmobile 4-dr Johan "promos", though they're NOT acetate, and somebody along the line did some extensive BMF work to 'em.

Probably leave 'em as-is for the foreseeable future...and I wasn't previously aware these models even existed.

Very cool!

I've had both of these at one point or another, and if they're not acetate, they're probably X-EL re-pops from the 80s.

I traded away my '57, and my dad threw away my '58 in a basement cleaning fit many years ago! :(

Ooooooo. I want that 57 SO bad. More and more I find myself drawn to the 4-door hardtop body styles. That Olds and the '56 Chevy wear the 4-door hardtop style splendidly. Congrats on that score!

It is a nice kit.  I just wish they would do the engines with them.  Just my preference.

That's a yes and no for me. Yes I'd like an engine, but no I don't want to pay Model Factory Hiro prices for them.
