Tim W. SoCal Posted March 24 Posted March 24 It took a few days for everything to arrive... Bob Shane of the Folk Group "The Kingston Trio" told Carroll Shelby that if Shelby ever produced a GT350 Convertible, he'd be in line to buy one. Caroll built 4, 6S2377 was Candyapple Red, whicch Bob purchased. The remaining 3 were Guardsman Blue, Ivy Green and Springtime Yellow. When I recently learned of this, I was inspired to kit-bash and build my own 1:24 scale replicas. Technical details of each car are next to impossible to find on the web, but I DID learn that the Ivy Green car was an automatic and the Guardsman Blue car was a 4-Speed. (I believe that there were 2 Four Speeds and 2 A/Ts, the Red car was a 4-Speed and the Yellow car was an A/T) My project cars are the Guardsman Blue and Ivy Green editions. To build these, I got 2 each of the Revell '65 Mustang Convertibles and the '66 Shelby GT350s, a Small Block Ford C6 transmission, A/T shifter from the AMT '67 Comet Cyclone, Jay's Resin wheels, Cragar GTs for the blue car, Shelby 10-Spokes for the green car, decals from Keith Marks. 6

That Shelby kit is really a good one; I built the same one, though actually my dad started it and changed it to the black/gold Hertz rental, and then I got an actual Hertz kit and made the Shelby GT350 out of it. 4

One of my bucket list projects is to replicate each color, plus a "Tim's Dream Car" GT350-H in Emberglo, and another in Corvette Inferno Orange, so I have several of the Monogram / Revell '66 Shelby GT350-H kits in my stash. We just learned that AMT-Round2 is going to release their '66 Mustang in a Shelby GT350 version in the not-too-distant future. I'm curious to see how it will compare to the Monogram / Revell model kit... 3

thatz4u Posted March 24 Posted March 24 found at thrift store today, 1960 SMP El Camino, kid build, tons of decals, & lots of custom parts added on. Got the photo off the net 5
fun9c1 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I feel like I won the lottery... Bought these on ebay a few days ago and they showed up today. All three were sold as incomplete for parts, $7 for all plus shipping. I just inventoried them and the Dick Tracy box is full of misc old Ford stuff from different kits, no body, and the '61 Ford has the chassis and some customizing stuff, no body, then I checked out the Green Hornet, and it's COMPLETE! Even had an extra pair of nice wheels with drag slicks as a bonus. I have the Round 2 version of the 61 Ford Styline kit sealed and realized tonight that it is based on the one I just got. 7

Bullybeef Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Well it was last week but I forgot show n tell haha. A long awaited addition to my current 32 lineup. A resin cast proper 32 Phaeton body, mastered by @Mr. Metallic comes with interior, seats, windshield frames and an up top. It’s based on the revell 32 body not the old AMT, so it’s a direct fit on any of the current 32 chassis lines up nicely with their fenders as well. 6

Is that a resin 32 wagon body in the background as well?

Doug 1061 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 The mailman dropped 2 of these on my porch tonight, and I managed to beat the pirates to it.... Glad they came out with left hand drive version of this. This is my favorite Japanese car from the 70s. 4

SfanGoch Posted March 29 Posted March 29 AMT 1961 Chrysler Imperial Convertible Still have to find two tail lights and another front bumper/grille. Also, picked up another Protar Ferrari 250 GTO. 3
Old Buckaroo Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Bought this old unwanted jewel off ebay for $11.00, The car is built and painted "pepto bismal pink". After stripping it will meet Mr Razor Saw to become to be rebuilt into Nascar convertible. The box was in really good condition also. The above pic was reduced to 1024 x 768 for the new upload limit guidelines. 3
