Lordmodelbuilder Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Received a few more 60's F350 Ford parts from Rookie Resin. Thanks Bill !

With MM enamels disapearing faster then you can blink and even the little square bottle Testors soon to be gone I've been making the rounds to stock up on enamel paints. I'm an old school modeller and like my enamels so hope to be stocked up with enough to last me the rest of my modelling days (I already have enough kits stashed away to last a lifetime or two). There is only one shop in my province that carries Humbrol and its a 3-4 hour drive away and you can't mail paints in Canada. I will be my own hobby shop. Where di you hear about Testors paint disappearing?
Snake45 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Bought this on eBay this week. Was sold as "Open box, parts off trees, not sure it's complete," etc. Pics weren't good but I could see a good unpainted body, the rare custom half-top, and the chrome tree with a lot of good stuff still on it, so I took a chance.
Tom Geiger Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Richard that looks like there's more than parts from one kit in that box. And the '66 has been popped enough that anything missing should be easily available. A parts bonanza if bought right!

This rumor was debunked here: The only paints being discontinued are Model Master International Military & Figure Enamels and Aztek acrylics.

The Bronco box had the Mustang 2. Chevy big wheel, Bronco skis, cap, and rails along with fender flairs. The mustang literally fell apart when I washed it. The 2 diecast were to cheap to give up. Figure someone might want them. The Lincoln Mint Daytona is complete. Engine painted. The Wix Chevy has never been out of it’s box. I have 2 Wix trailers. The Ford pickup is sealed and the contents of the Snap Tight fire truck are all sealed. The 1969 Mustang has parts painted but looks complete. And the Johnny Lightnings were a buck a piece. Can’t go wrong. Great score Dave!!

The woman was so sweet I had to buy them but I don't usually. I have a 1/18 1964 Ford Galaxy only because I actually owned one. The Mustang 2. I think I'll paint the interior and just put it back together.
SfanGoch Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Dave, are you planning to open a hobby shop?
ewetwo Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) LOL! No Joe. But I'd love to. I know. I just can't pass up a deal. Next year I go on Medicare so my monthly income will drop. Not that I get a lot now. I'm just frugal. Plus I have a nephew who is 2 and a half months old. My niece says he's showing an interest in cars so you never know. Why. Did you want something? And like the Hobby Lobby buys. I have a couple of builder near me who miss these sale or don't have the money at that time. So I sell it to them for what I paid when they can afford it. Here's the rest of my original post, which I had to delete because I kept getting 404 Error. Let's see if I can post it now: Didn't work. Let's see if PART of it will work. So that didn't work, either. Let's dispense with the second paragraph and see if the third one will work. So this lets me leave my already-owned '66 kit, near NIB, unbuilt, and using all this stuff (plus maybe some extras from the common repops), I can build a very nice stock '66 convertible AND a period, kit-stock custom with the cool half-top. Might even be able to get TWO period customs out of all the goodies. Looking forward to it!

Mark Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Good deal on that '66 Mustang lot! One thing about the annual kits is that they have single exhaust pipe detail on the chassis. Lose a little bit of Y-pipe detail towards the front, track down the straight six engine from the '62 Falcon or Comet, and you're good to go on a six-cylinder car. I gave an engine to a buddy of mine who did just that with a '66 convertible, I believe he built it as the Night Stalker car because he liked the show. Not much shopping here lately (got enough stuff already, and then some). Last week's drive to the AMC car show in Pennsylvania triggered a forty-mile side trip to a hobby shop I used to stop at when I worked for a construction company. Everything was full retail, but I did pick up a Jimmy Flintstone '59 Imperial body and a couple of other things. Today's stop locally netted me a Trumpeter panel scriber, a sealed-box Seventies issue Revell '60 (actually '59) Corvette (for five bucks!), a Round 2 Drag 500 tire/slick pack, and an empty but pristine AMT '65 GTO annual kit box (again for a fin).

To them it's all junk. LOL!. I slowed on my building because I was having paint issues and I was trying to build higher than my ability. So buying stuff took it's place. Now my mind set is. Most people I know not in the hobby think they look fantastic. While others in the hobby would be critical. So I realize I can build them and if there are a few specks of dust in the paint. So be it. They will all be sold in a garage/estate sale when I'm gone. But I know one of the local guy's father in law collects 1/18 die cast. If he wants them. I'll charge him what I paid as selling them on line and mailing them. The postage would be outrageous. If he doesn't. Then I have them. Let the relatives deal with them when I'm gone. LOL.
kelson Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Finally decided to buy one ,used some Scale finishes enamel that never seemed to dry
ToyLvr Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Picked this up today from a fellow modeler at a local model club meeting. AMT 1962 Chevy Corvair. The majority of these “Styline” kits I find are usually built with all of the custom stuff attached. It was nice to find one still in the stock configuration! My first 1:1 car was a ‘62 Corvair Monza coupe. It got me hooked on Corvairs, and I still have a couple in my garage?
Snake45 Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Sweet! I picked up a couple AMT early Corvairs earlier this year and am looking forward to getting into them.

These are surviving models of our family Corvairs.
Snake45 Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Local Toy Show Day! Ooo-eee, I spent a buttload of money but got some good stuff. Pics will have to wait till I can sneak them all in the house past The Lovely Mrs. Snake, and I might not even remember it all, but here's what I can recall offhand: *Unbuilt, in-the-box MPC '76 Vega, $15. *Some kind of old Bugatti sports car, diecast, 1/24, pretty cool looking, new in the box, $5. *Franklin Mint '70 Chevelle in dark blue, $20. It's missing one of the front fender caps but I'm pretty sure I can harvest one off a Monogram body and fix the thing. *Reissued MPC '75 Vette roadster, $8. It's worth that just for the wheels/tires and aluminum injector stacks (I made sure they were all present). *Some kind of off-brand diecast 3rd Gen Camaro, #10. Got a lot of goofy stripes on it, and it might be a hair undersized, maybe 1/26 or so, but I've never seen another diecast 3G Camaro and I can do SOMETHING with it. *Started, half-built AMT '66 Nova pro street with a fairly decent purple paint job. I'll treat it like a glue bomb rescue, finish it off, and have it on the shelf with just a few hours work. Easily $10 worth of fun. *Glue bomb Monogram '66 Chevelle that I need the complete engine from to finish off my stalled Bring Out Your Dead project. The engine stuff I need is all here so it was easily worth the $5 asking price. *Bag of random engines, 8 or 10 or 12 of them. The one that caught my eye was some kind of 6-cylinder with tube headers! I can use that for SOMETHING! (Anyone know what that might be from?) There might be a couple more usable things in there, too. And then I stopped at Rite-Aid and scored a new Welly '69 GTO Judge I'd never seen before for $10. It's a dark red or maroon, has exposed headlights, and might be a little undersized--like their '68 4-4-2, '71 Chevelle, and '65 Riviera--but it'll look just fine sitting on the shelf right next to them. Pics when I can!
Mark Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Straight six with tube headers? If the block/oil pan is split down the middle, it might be from the Monogram '53 Chevy hardtop. The headers seem to be a good fit on AMT Chevy sixes, I've got a couple of those headers that I fished out of parts boxes for just that reason.

I don't remember the model number but I just googled the 55 and that's at least in the neighborhood of what it is. I didn't see the BBurago name on the box, though of course it still could be. It seemed light, like maybe there's a lot of plastic in it. Whatever, it's cool, and will look good on the shelf. Will let you know and/or post pics as soon as possible.
