iamsuperdan Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Definitely not! I usually fill up as soon as it hits 1/4 tank, but I did a lot of driving on Monday, so didn't get around to it. Why Ford would put the fuel sender near the top of the tank and not near the fuel pickup at the bottom of the tank is beyond me. There must be a reason.

There must be a reason. Fuel senders are almost always floats of some kind, either swinging in an arc, or linear, vertically. If the sender is positioned at the front of the tank, and you're parked with the nose uphill, there can still be sufficient fuel at the pickup to run, but the sender will be at the bottom of its travel and read "empty"...which in the case of your truck's internal logic, inhibits starter function (which is probably a good idea if your truck has that annoying stop/start function, as those starters are insanely expensive compared to their dinosaur ancestors, and prolonged cranking is hard on any of 'em). Anyway, most vehicles have the senders and pickups roughly at the center of the tank, so you've got a about a 50/50 chance of picking up fuel however the vehicle is oriented. But I gotta tell ya...and it's going to p--- you off...these days, don't assume there's any well thought-out "reason" for doing anything. Almost daily, we see things that defy logic from a functional engineering standpoint, and we have a great time poking fun at folks mousing around on their little CAD screens who have very obviously never seen how anything works in the physical world.
TonyK Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Got our 4th and final kitchen appliance yesterday; dishwasher. The delivery guys called and said they'd be here in 20-30 minutes but showed up an hour later. Installation went good but after they left I realized there's no owners manual, quick start guide, or warranty papers. Wife called Home Depot customer service and Whirlpool and got no where. Always telling her to go online and print everything. She argued we're not going to spend our time and money (ink cost and paper) to print entire manuals and warranty paperwork that should be included with our purchase. Suggested the delivery guys who just left should bring us the booklets, etc. who obviously tossed it with all the other stuff when they pulled it from the box. Told us there's no way of contacting them. Bull! Amazing how no one is willing or capable of doing their job right anymore. 1

When we got my wife's new Jeep Cherokee last year, they offered the option of going online to look at owner's manuals or getting the printed manuals. I'm sure you know which we did. This seems to be the latest way for companies to save fifty cents on a sale.

When I was finalizing the deal for my 22 Bronco Sport, I noticed that the owners manual and all the other stuff with it were shrink wrapped. I asked the salesman where the pouch was that those things were always packed in? He stated that Ford stopped including the pouch with the manual. I told him he needed to find one….and he did. It’s really quite sad the way corners are cut, both large and small.

We bought an '09 Jeep Wrangler and it came with a nice camo canvas folder with a leather strap and buckle for the owner's manual and warranty books. My '10 Dodge Charger had a nice case for the books as well. Replaced that with a '19 Dodge Charger and the same thing, a nice folder for the books. The wife's '21 Jeep Cherokee we had to ask for the books and warranty papers since that has now become as option. And yet they are asking for over MSRP for these new cars. Greed can and will diminish the new car buying experience and in turn diminish customer loyalty to the brand as well as the dealer.

Not too much of a collector, but I do have a 2006 Seamaster Aqua Terra (bought new), a 1967 pie pan from the stepfather-in-law, and the engraved Gruen my mom gave my dad for his birthday in 1952. So yeah, what is it? Edited November 12, 2022 by Rodent
ewetwo Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Had to take my wife to the Dana Farber clinic in Boston yesterday. 11 hour round trip. Left at 5:30 am and got home at 4 pm. On the way home we all got bunched up in traffic. I could see ahead and it was a mini van and it was staying in the left lane next to a pickup with a trailer. The truck would pick up speed and so did the mini van. The truck would slow down and so did the mini van. It went on for like 10 miles. Up to 70 mph. Then abruptly down to 55 mph. Up and down. Everyone slamming on their brakes. We were approaching a steep hill and it changed from a 2 lane to a 3 lane section and the pickup went to the far right lane but the mini van stayed in the left lane. We all started moving very fast but had to go to the right around the mini van to go by. It was a young woman driving with her young husband in the passenger seat. I'm sure I wasn't the only person who gave them a nasty gesture as we went by. And you could see them looking at you and screaming as you went by. Reason I don't have a gun.

TonyK Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 In the summer with windows open all night I've heard them off in the distance at businesses. Just like those giant sweepers cleaning the parking lots it's the only time they can easily blow everything. Besides the noise and pollution of leaf blowers, I hate when they just blow everything somewhere else. They don't pick it up, they just blow it off the property!

Bunch of idiots who don’t want to go beyond to satisfy their customers. Too much work for them to do nowadays. Nobody wants to work anymore. 1
HomerS Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Curious I was looking for tickets for the Trans Siberian Orchestra at the local arena. Decent seats were $49/each....times two was $98. Not bad! Moved on to the next page of TickerMaster and the total for electronic tickets jumped to $149??? Nope!! I would like to see them live but not that bad!

That translucent dial is great. Christopher Ward makes a nice watch, and I really dig the modern aesthetic. You'd definitely expect a 600m diver to be a bit heavy (and I'll bet the frosted sapphire dial adds some weight too) but it looks like it should wear really well at 42mm. Great score!

NOBLNG Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 I got an e-mail from apple this morning. They are raising the cost of apple tv from $5.99 to $8.99 a month. That is a 50% increase!?? I will likely cancel my subscription, but sadly they will come out ahead. They would need more than 1/3 of their subscribers to cancel in order to lose.
cobraman Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 I have been using Duplicolor 1K clear on my models for awhile and really like it. Got got caught short so went to Amazon where I usually bought it. They had it but for 29.00 ! No way I'm paying that. Found they had it at the auto store near my house for 19.00. Still too high but since I like it I will buy.

The chain stores and Internet sellers jack up the price right away, like the grocery store raising the price on bottled orange juice every time the groves freeze over. Or when the gas station raises the price between one car and the next at the same pump. 1
