I'm soery to hear that, Nathan. It does make following the Hobby harder.

There are many Canadian members on this Board. I'd reach out to them and see what Mail Order Hobby Shops they recommend.

I'd try to get all of your Paint and Glue in Canada, just because it keep you from having to deal with shipping HazMat items thru Customs.

As for kits there are a a few well known On Line Hobby sites that ship to Canada.

Good Luck.

It does make it quite tricky, yes; I know our local Canadian Tire has spray paint for actual cars, and we did buy and use one (for my '64 Galaxie) but it wasn't the greatest. One store we're goin' to check up on today is the local Colour Your World store, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that as an option. Paint bushes aren't too bad, i've been able to keep on re-using two particular ones my dad had since the late '70s; just keep dipping them in a paint thinner bottle and that keeps them clean enough; Plus when they were clearencing the model brushes we bought up few, and really any paint brush would do.

Shouldn't have to worry about glue for a bit; but I do only have one left.

As for kits; i'm not terribly concerned, since there is a hobby shop in southern Ontario that does ship them (i've got two from there already) and the local vintage junk shop has a semi-steady stock of a reasonably priced vintage kits here and there.

We've been noticing that one of local grocery stores has been putting out dated goods on the shelves such as last week, mayonnaise dated used by Jan. 2024. A box of Brownie bites marked used by Jan. 2025 and scooby snacks dated also Jan. 2025, it's now fricken March. Tonight looked at the mayonnaise again, Feb. 2025. Tonight we bought a prepackaged red skin potato salad and upon opening it up for a side dish for dinner, it looked not right. It's dated use by March 16, 2025 and today is March 17th 2025, my bad for not checking it first. Tomorrow I'll be going back to have a discussion with a manager as to why should I not report them to the health dept!  Another irk from the same store was some idiot price marked some of their 8 piece Hot Fried Chicken containers 29.99 and some $9.99, how incompetent.

Similar problems at our local market as well. In addition to packaged pre-sliced cheese that was still in dated as good, but when opened had mold on the Swiss and some dusty white type of residue on the Chedder slices. Based on past experience this has to do with the market not maintaining what is called the "Cooled Chain". This is when the market does not keep the chesses properly refrigerated from when they receive the product and when it is put in the sales coolers.

The local Michaels is getting out of model kits

I thought I read somewhere that Round 2 made a deal with Michael’s, Joann fabrics and Crafts and Walmart to carry their kits. So much for that, sad. I had hopes that our town would have kits again.

I gave up on Michaels years ago. Joann Fabrics are closing stores now including one up the street from me and I never set foot in Walmart so none of that has affected me. I go to Hobby Lobby once in awhile for some paint if I run out and their selection of kits are the same as it was six months ago.

I've relied on buying online for all my model needs. I try to plan ahead and make my purchases wisely. Shipping costs are a pain but I really have no other choice.

Michael's probably gives individual store managers some latitude in regards to what they carry.  For a long stretch, the stores in my area were way down on model kits but are now bouncing back.  They now have Revell and Round 2 items, with the snap kits being Airfix.

The Joann stores have had Atlantis kits, but they're all going away this year (Joann stores, not Atlantis).  The stores here never had much of a selection, and never stocked Testors paints as in other areas.

Yes, the Hobby Lobby selection is slow to change.  To get the prices that leave room for 40% off every other week, they buy in such volume that they're going to be selling the same items for a long while.  Too, certain items probably sell well for them even when they don't sell elsewhere.  I was in one store yesterday; they still stock the AMT Super Stones Ford pickup which is one of the early Round 2 reissues.  HL alone is probably responsible for that kit still being in production.

Just recently got the responsibility as Power of Attorney for my nursing home bound aging aunt. She is wanting to have an auction of all her personal stuff and then rent her house. I went down to the house Saturday to have a look around to see what all would be for sale.  I do not have the security code for her alarm system. I entered the house anyway, the alarm successively got louder. I went back outside and called the number on the door, they referred me to another number, which referred me back to the original number. Now as all this is going on the alarm is still activated. Second time I got a "tech" on the line. I explained to him who I was and he told me how to disarm the system. I disarmed it, looked around (it is going to be an intense auction, collections of all forms of figurines), replugged the alarm back in and left the house. The alarm was still sounding when I left. It is my guess from the time I initially set the alarm off until I pulled out of the drive was around 20-30 minutes. At no time did I see any law enforcement. But what irked me the most was the cavalier way in which the "tech" told me, a complete stranger on the telephone with no security codes, how to disarm the system. Monday I went to their local office and cancelled the alarm system. Their answer, "Sorry about your problem."

Pretty much the world we live in now, and if you lose your temper in the face of such glaring uncaring incompetence...guess who's the bad guy.

Having to deal with what's being laid on you is a big responsibility as you know, especially the renting out her home and keeping track of all that is entailed with finding responsible, honest and paying tenants. I was shocked at how low my parents antiques and collectibles were valued at by the appraiser when he came through. If time is an issue and you need to disburse a lifetime of collectibles quickly, unfortunately an auction can bring in little revenue on those collectible items. It stinks when you think about just how much our loved ones precious belongs that they've cherished all their life are worth. One piece of advice I would give you is documentation! Document everything you do, who you speak with, the days, the dates and the times. When your plate is full, things can get confusing and it will definitely help keep you straight.

As for the alarm company, you did the right thing. Crazy they handled it that way, especially not having an officer of the law to be called on scene.

I'm sorry if I sound so negative but it's not a fun thing to have to deal with. Your Aunt is lucky you're willing to step up to the plate and help her. Good luck Ricky, and watch out for family, they can become your worst problem. I know, I'm dealing with that now.

Glitch in my cell carrier.

Phone's "deactivated", waiting for an hour for "customer service", have the provider site up which shows a successful auto-pay was made today, and my bank site shows a good transaction.

I'm so sick of having to rely on incompetenrt BS.

My ISP is constantly down-and-back-up for no apparent reason too, most usually when I'm in the middle of trying to conduct business or order parts.

God, give me the strength to finish my work and get on down the road to full retirement.

I really can't stand being at the mercy of dwerbles much longer.

Two or three months later, still having an incompetent kleptocrat on a power trip, telling me to screw up my drawings because she says so.  Last job of my career, and I'm having a (bleeper) raising my blood pressure.

Yup. Last two jobs of mine, most complex I've ever done. Trying to close 'em out by end of May.

I wasted the entire day waiting at the hospital for an endoscopy only for the doc to be defeated by my gag reflex. He tried multiple times but no luck so now i have to get knocked out for it

Wife had that done but they gave her some drug that relaxed her. Not completely out but enough so they could do what they needed. Still had some gagging but that's to be expected.

I had to have lab work today at a different lab because the lab I usually have it done at went belly up because the building sold.. Well not only did the lab move but my Dr. is moving his practice May1.. So, the Dr's office didn't communicate with the lab & vice-versa, so I had to go get paperwork from my present Dr. luckily his nurse was there & fixed me up, then when I got back I was supposed to go right back because I had an appointment, I eneded up waiting over an hour, getting madder by the minute, & I wasn't the only one... Finally I enquired about how long because my ride was waiting on me, she found the paper I turned in earlier & was out 15 min later, it was noy a pleasant afternoon, that & dealing with the incompetence at the USPS really made my day..

The local Michaels is getting out of model kits, ten fold; having now put all spray paints on clearence, and there were very slim pickin's to choose from. After that I have no actual idea where to get spray paint, little testors paint capsules, kits, or supplies because there is absolutely no other crafty stores in town or North or East the highway. Probably will end up ordering new kits, but can't build if I don't have paint. I do have quite a few spary cans, but they'll run out eventually...

The search continues for a paint colour for the '63 Nova wagon.

They are supposed to be reworking their model selection. Round 2 announced a distribution deal with Michael's a couple months ago. They probably have to switch paint suppliers, but I don't know who they're switching to. But something should be in the works.

I remember that announcement and they opened a new Michael’s down the street from Hobby Lobby but they have no kits yet..

I received an unsolicited email a couple of weekends ago informing me that I am preapproved  for a HELOC of up to $200,000 and instructed me to click the included link to see my interest rate. I did, was not favorably impressed, decided that I was not interested, found and used the "unsubscribe" option and assumed I was finished with it. This was from ONE specific lender. Since then, my phone has been blowing up with computer generated calls and I've been bombarded with emails from numerous prospective lenders soliciting my business. It is well beyond the point where it is not only obtrusive and  invasive, it is down right annoying.

My school bus broke down on the final run of the day and the GM had to sent another and the tow truck. Thankfully, the monitor, (A lady assistant) kept the kids calm much of the time. The GM called the school and the school in turn notified all parents via citywide texting that their kids will be late coming home and as to the reason why. The bus will be in the shop for a while while I drive one of the spares for now.

Unsubscribe link is there to let the SPAMMER know that you your email is actually active and there is a human responding to the email, so more emails/phone-calls/texts will be coming your way. Never unsubscribe from any unsolicited emails!  You learned that lesson the hard way.   Any unsolicited emails should immediately be deleted, phone calls not answered (let them go to VM - they will not leave message), and block texts.

Garbage! I went for a short walk to Canadian Tire today and the amount of trash laying around everywhere is appalling! The sources are countless, but I think a good solution might be to give out trash bags to all these beggars walking up and down almost every major boulevard and give them a food voucher or cash for every full bag they turn in.🙂

Anyone have a good 'lost the keys' story for me?  With a happy ending?

I'm still waiting on getting the Fakearri Title signed by an attorney of an estate, who just got back from Europe, and immediately went to the ER for Pneumonia.  The widow is driving up to see him, to get it taken care of.  I'm still without working brakes too, have someone taking a look soon.

Life on planet Earth.
