peekay Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Another of my early eighties builds. As with the 57 Chevy above, paint is Sikkens automotive base/clear coat system with my then new airbrush. I don't know why I painted the engine yellow (it should be red) - the rest of the model looks reasonably accurate so I had apparently seen a photo or two. MrObsessive Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 That's a real beauty Peter! This is one of Monogram's nicer kits from that era and still holds up well today.
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 That's pretty Peter! Excellent work! Steve
espo Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Again a very accurate looking build. Outstanding paint.
peekay Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Thanks for your comments everyone, very much appreciated. The Monogram 1.24th kits of this period had their faults but they were virtually free of fit problems. This applied to the 53 Chevy and 41 Lincoln too, both of which I also built at the time.
YBlock292 Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Hello Peter, that is one beauty! Great looking bird with flawless paint in that classy black and red combo. Regards Ludwig

Geno Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Peter, you're yanking our chain aren't you, that's a real car......right? A seriously beautiful build.
RAMBENNA Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 wow a real beauty , looks great in black. nice work
Oldcarfan27 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 That's an 80s build? Sure has held up well. If you were building THAT good 35 years ago, how great are your skills now? Paint looks like it's on steel, not plastic. Great job!

Patrick, my job in the eighties gave me access to a professional spray booth plus good automotive paints and excellent tuition in their use with an airbrush. I also had good eyesight and a steady hand. None of this applies any more and I struggle to get a good result these days - but I still try.
