Tom Geiger Posted October 25, 2020 Hmmm.. I went into my 57 Ford parts box to find a tail light bezel someone needed. I came across this unfinished project. Back when I was restoring a few old customs, a dealer friend offered this up. The box had enough to build two cars but just this one body. At the time, I thought the concept was cool but the work poorly executed. The paint is poor and trim painted crooked with Testors brush paint silver. And since then a few tires had stuck to the hood. It’s not an old custom, the interior used is pretty modern, so I left it in the parts box. Then this morning I got looking at it with fresh eyes. The basic conversion work was done fairly clean. The roof is nicely blended into the car and the wagon interior fits well. If stripped, it may make for a reasonable project. Thoughts? Does this one deserve to be completed? cobraman Posted October 25, 2020 Tom, just do it ! ?
espo Posted October 25, 2020 This looks like someone was adapting the wagon roof from the old AMT Lincoln Continental kit . One of the hard parts in such a conversion is the Tail Gate and this looks like they did a nice job on this. The interior looks like it may be from that Lincoln kit as well. I'd go for it. Disassemble what you got and let it swim in the purple pond for a couple of days. I don't think you would want to try and save the present paint work anyway. doorsovdoon Posted October 25, 2020 It'll be a challenge but I'd give it a go. Could be a weathered scrapper, you've nothing to loose really from what's there.
Sam I Am Posted October 26, 2020 Is it in the purple pond yet? ?

landman Posted October 26, 2020 Challenging all right, but you can do it.
Olderisbetter Posted October 26, 2020 Tom, Your skill level must be way higher than mine, but then again that includes most 9 year olds. Go for it. By the way I'm the guy who you were digging for the 57 Ford tail light bezels. Got your message. There's a PM for you waiting. Thanks.

bobthehobbyguy Posted October 26, 2020 Go for it. Just a crazy thought but with the broken windshield post it made me think of the lil coffin's cantilever roof. Regardless it deserves to be completed. Its an interesting concept.
BlackSheep214 Posted October 28, 2020 Or turn it into an "El Camino" truck. That would cool.

ewetwo Posted October 31, 2020 I'd like to see it restored to what the original owner did. Or was trying to do.
jsc Posted October 31, 2020 I love old wagons, but the Continental add on is not the best. I'd vote for a Ranchero!

The original builder had a vision, did pretty well on the fabrication, and lost it with the paint and finish. Especially the hand brushed Testors silver somewhat on the trim. I even like the two tone burgundy and silver, and just happen to have those in Duplicolor.
