2021 IPMS Nationals Kit Information

Alright after 14hrs of travel, what seems like 10 miles of walking, plus the time to talk to everyone I'm not trying to figure out which ones of the dozens of threads this stuff all sorts into, and I'm creating a new catch all thread here for the new/continuing kit news being announced here in Vegas. On site are Pegasus/Moebius, Revell, Atlantis, and Salvinos JR. I have no photos or anything from the latter as Salivinos is set up to vend their products and chat, but doesn't have any new stuff on display.

If anyone has any questions (consider what information these guys can actually put out there in the public realm about future products) leave them here and I will try to get back around tomorrow or Saturday and glean what answers I can.

New Ford F-Series Test Shots & CAD Previews

*note* the placard for the Ramp Truck officially lists is as a 1967. But as the F-Series are modular, you can clearly put whatever year cab on it you wish.

Got to talk with Jim Keeler for a little bit he is (as one might expect), very excited about the upcoming projects.

Jim told me that all of the Parts Pack "Keeler's Kustoms" based kits will come with two COMPLETE engines, as well as a foot spool (see in the first picture) of wiring for said engine detailing.

The following pictures are how the releases are more or less going to occur with the first three being locked in, in that order.

Jim also did a very humorous humble brag about lathing the parts for the window tray seen in the photo below.

The Moebius Chevy II and the Ramp Truck look like something I would have to have, did they offer info on anything else ? Pegasus, when are their wheels and tires returning to the open market ? The Atlantis kits look interesting and the '55 and '57 Bel Airs sure look like old Revell kits ?

Revell -

Spent a bunch of time with Ed (Sexton) this morning talking about a bunch of things. Including how some on this forum and else where believe the company is dead, the ongoing cluster yaknow shipping things from Asia continues to be, and of course models. Ed told me that there's little they can do with distribution right now, it's not a cash flow or Germany issue, but completely related to getting containers from China to the U.S., and then to the warehouse here. They have a slew of product on order and ready to shop, but getting them shipped continues to be an expensive headache. To that end the guy at Pegasus was saying it's become so expensive it's directly adding $1 to every model kit to offset the costs. 

So let's see what there is to discuss...note I'm not going to cover old yet unreleased stuff like the Bronco Half Cab, or '30 Ford. But rather the newly announced...or new products.

So first up on the 4 kits just added to the Revell German site. The "1981" Camaro is in fact the venerable Monogram 1979 Camaro 3n1 kit, last released in 2011.

The 66 Malibu was described as a combination of both sides of the tooling (aka the red car and the black car). Ed wasn't directly involved with the project so details as to if it's exactly ALL the parts from both, or just a mix and match is not totally clear.

Lasty was the also wrong scale listed '69 Camaro. The correct scale is 1/25. It is the Camaro tooling we all know and love, but this time modified to reflect the SS396 format which has a specific hood that they have not included in any other release.

Couple of remaining items of interest. 

The 1971 Mustang project described as fake here recently is in fact (to reaffirm Tim Boyd's information) still on going. Its in the design process and they're currently back-checking references to make sure it's as accurate as possible.

Then we have the "Rat Roaster Conversion" which are some new parts being tooled up to "de-copyright" the Rat Roaster kit. Revell is no longer carrying that license and needed to create parts that weren't specific to Stacey Davids.

Then the cut the grass as far as I'm concerned is the test shot for the upcoming 1971 Oldsmobile 4-4-2...

They did have wheel and tires sets on the table, but I have no experience with their product line to know if they're old or new. I'll be sure to ask. The Tri-Fives are indeed the old Revell kits.

The reissue of the newer Revell '56 Chevy Delray/210 has been out for a while.  Atlantis might not be thinking about issuing the old Revell opening-doors '56 while the newer kit is out there.  Even if they are, that bad boy needs a lot of work including new clear parts (last issue, the windows fell through the openings).

GREAT news about the Rat Roaster!  We were just discussing that on another thread this week!  Looks like some AWESOME new parts in that kit too...I'll be buying a bunch of those I'm sure!  Hoping those rear fenders are separate pieces?

Odd that they put a picture of Vin Diesel as Dominic on the F&F 'Brian's Truck' pickup instead of, you know...Brian 🤷‍♂️  Maybe a licensing issue with Paul Walker's estate?

Forgot to mention it's also good to see the '69 SS hood in the far easier to obtain full detail/glue kit, too. Funny to think the Revell 1/25 '69 Camaro series adds a new option/ significant part after 31 years, but not surprised at all.

I wonder (and perhaps Ed Sexton could elaborate on this) if these updates to both the '69 Camaro and '71 Olds Cutlass were planned long ago, but never came to fruition until now. Either way, they are both welcome updates.

Really great update, James.  Thanks for all the info.  

I trust any questions about the future of Moebius newly tooled kits are now resolved.  And all I can say is trust me, those pictures of the Chevy II Gasser don't begin to convey what a nicely done kit this will turn out to be, IMHO.  

The Revell Rat Roaster tool revisions have been in discussion for at least five years or more, certainly well before the Hobbico BK debacle.  Certainly looks like they have done an excellent job picking up and editing all the ideas from all those who provided input.  This fact alone is actually really encouraging news not only about this particular kit tool, but also for the possibility of other hot rod themed topics down the road.    

The '71 442 Coupe is entirely new news to me.  Quite the scoop there, my friend.

Thanks for gathering and putting up all of this info. Revell has my head spinning right about now with the '37 Ford Pickup 2 n 1, '69 Camaro SS396, Brian's F150 SVT, '67 Corvette, Porsche 911 Targa, 1981 Camaro, and the further down the road '71 Mustang and '71 Olds Cutlass. Moebius has my attention with the Ford Ramp Truck, even though I just bought the Chevy Racer's Wedge. Atlantis has some very cool and interesting stuff, but most of it just doesn't pull at me much at the moment, personally. I may have to start selling some plasma pretty soon to pay for what I want to get when these kits come out, lol.

I'm looking forward to the 71'olds,seems like a natural after their 72'olds kits,hopefully the 69 Camaro SS has the non chambered exhaust and stock exhaust manifolds included and the 71'Mustang is another kit to look forward to.🤠

Agreed. For as long ago as they introduced the '72 convertibles, I am very happy to see the franchise expand. Crossing my fingers and toes, hoping a '70 Cutlass Supreme convertible eventually emerges before I am too old to build it. (I owned one in the early 80s).

👆THIS is great news!  I always scratched my head why the old Hobbico Revell didn't follow up the '72 H/O with a 442 hardtop.

No problems jumping out looking at the pics.  If they were smart, they may have just cloned a Johan body.  Lets hope they're thinking ahead and also planning a 1970 W-30 version, since that is the apex Olds muscle car.

Also glad to hear about the '69 Camaro SS 396 variation.  That's always been another head scratcher of why not?  I also agree: lets all cross our fingers for a standard exhaust system.

I'm guessing why this is a '71 and not a '72 is due to the 1971 being the last true 442, while in 72 it was back to being a set trim packages. I didn't ask, but I would presume this isn't a copy of JoHan or anything like that, but just a new top body insert (along with rear glass and any modified parts to the convertible's interior) for the existing '72 Convertible kit. That would make the most sense (IMHO) and assure the new body fits the internals since the bottom 3/4 of it is the same as all the others. 

My personal wish would be for a '68, but that would probably need to be on a Lindberg or AMT based modified reissue, so I won't hold my breath.
