Presented is the 1969 Boss 429 Mustang in 1/25 scale. This was a kitbash project which includes parts from 3 different kits (1/25 Revell 69 Mach 1 & Boss 302 kits, and 1/24 Revell Boss 429 kit). Additionally, tires were gotten from Fireball Modelworks. Basically, the hood scoop, engine, and arm rests are from the Boss 429 kit. Interior decals, exhaust, and wheels are from the Boss 302 kit, and the remainder are from the Mach 1 kit. Because of the differences is scale with the engine, I had to shorten the drive shaft, adjust the exhaust, remove some material from the motor mount area, and create an enlarged opening in the kit hood under the scoop. Also, the cutouts for the exhaust on the lower rear valence were filled in to accommodate the turned down exhaust tips indicative of the "Boss 9." The model was finished in MCW lacquer factory "Black Jade" paint and polished without clear coat. The engine detail includes the addition of plug wires, scratchbuilt smog system, and breather caps & lines. The antennae and base was also scratchbuilt.

Kudos for “making” a sweet looking 69 Boss 429 which was never offered in kit form.  At one point I was going to make a 69 Boss 302 using the Mach1 kit but Revell beat me to it when they revised the molds.  You kitbash shows the superiority of the Revell/Monogram engine bay and chassis compared to the MPC/AMT kits.

About 10 years ago I did make a Boss 429 out of the MPC 69 sportsroof kit plus of course adding a 429 hood scoop and engine etc.

Very nice kitbash. I finished my 69 Boss 429 last year. I went metallic gold with the rear spoiler and window louvers. What paint did you use for the valve covers? Mine did not quite come out with the look I was going for.

Bill, I remember that build of yours.  It gave me some added inspiration.  To answer your question:  I believe I used Alcad Aluminum then flat coated it after applying the decals

I'm impressed by the show car style detailing on the chassis and the color code paint markings. The body paint finish looks great, and the color really fits the subject.

Nice! My cousin had a '69 Mach 1 in the same color back in the 80s. 428 SCJ with the drag pack, 4 speed, black interior, with the sports slats. The thing was ridiculously fast. It even came with a parts car in the same color. He bought it off some guy who worked at a local muffler shop. Wound up trading it in on an 80s Blazer. I never miss an opportunity to rib him about how big a mistake he made even to this day. ?
