Can-Con Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Nice layout. Don picked some good pics for the article. Not a lot of script, just captions for the pics. Looks good. Only one little thing that kinda bugs me ,, Right on the bottom right corner of the main pic is the script , , , "Model by Craig Stansfield" &%$##$^&*^$$#%^^ 2
James2 Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 That is a nice magazine, a little $$ but nice. I had the privilege of gracing his pages once. Congratulations, that's a nice piece you have. It inspired me to build a similar car.
Claude Thibodeau Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Congrats Steve! It's always stimulating to find one's work in print. So much styrene, so little time! CT

Ace-Garageguy Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) Congratulations Craig. Nice model. (It really is a beauty, and my head would probably explode if something I'd built was credited to somebody else) Edited March 1, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy 1 1
NOBLNG Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Yes….that is very nicely done Craig.? Seriously Steve, You should notify them and they should print a correction next issue.? 1

dragstk Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 I agree, you should ask for, actually demand a correction. But getting a model in a magazine is a great accomplishment. So congrats on that! And we, at the forum know who really built it
Steve H Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Hi Steve, you build beautiful models, including this 62 Chrysler. Fantastic that it got printed in the magazine, and it totally sucks that someone else’s name is on it. I’d be disappointed too.??
James2 Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 So what about the guy who’s name is credited to your model? Who’s name is on his? And how many other mistakes were made?

Can-Con Posted March 2, 2023 Author Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Thanks guys. First thing I did was leave a message for Don at the TRaK forum, even before posting here. Haven't heard back from him yet. I'll send him an e-mail later now that I found his e-mail addy again. Edited March 2, 2023 by Can-Con

I would always check the other entries to find the mistakes, sometimes they would just be all over the place. One reason I quit buying that rag a long time ago!

There was a funny letter in one issue of SA complaining that the magazine had completely butchered a builder's name in one issue, and then butchered it a different way in a correction they printed in the next issue...they got it right by the third try though, luckily ?
Can-Con Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 Just got a reply from Don about the magazine article. He's correcting the master, sending me a corrected copy plus printing a correction notice in the next issue and sending me a copy of the one as well. So everything worked out fine. 1
JollySipper Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 It's cool that they're sending you a corrected copy! Is Craig Stansfield at least a good builder? I would have had to look him up to see how he builds.......

blunc Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 I had one of my builds show up in one of the model magazines that covered one of the GSL's a few years ago, they got my name correct but the accompanying text was nothing like what I had written on the "photo card"...a little disappointing but I got bragging rights. ?
Bugatti Fan Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 It is understandable to be irritated and annoyed if your model is captioned incorrectly in a magazine having gone to print. But we all make mistakes and the editor did his best to apologise and make amends by getting a specially corrected copy printed up for Steve. At least he tried to resolve the matter personally with Steve in the best way he could. I would guess that an apology in all probability will also appear in the next edition.
