  1. interesting story behind this car, beautiful design and engineering
  2. some "woodlite" headlights would add a sympathetic shape to the front...
  3. Hmmmm, a 32 Ford Vicky body... add the grille from the Auburn... blend until smooth
  4. WOW, one (or more) people forgot to take their meds. Having seen Chris be constantly supportive of John and his talents, I a little surprised at John's response to Chris' post. I'm hoping all parties will just chalk it up to people "having a bad day" and move on...isn't that what friends and comrades do?
  5. Hey man! it's not so easy for some of us down here in Diptheria Arizona.
  6. to make round cuts, you could try leather punches or sharpening the end of some tubing, or just a regular hole punch if the size is correct.
  7. If you feel like trying the smaller SMD (surface mount) LEDs, you can use much smaller wire that is much easier to hide in edges and corners. The hardest part would be soldering the wire to the SMD LEDs and keeping track of polarity. I have occasionally considered truck projects which would include lighting but I have too many car ideas to execute before I get to my truck concept ideas.
  8. Removed the inner door panels to make interior detailing easier. Creating new rear sub frame, the old pieces were discarded. Comments welcomed.
  9. Finally, after a week in purple stuff, brake fluid, easy off then Bleche White (now under the Black Magic brand), I can start bracing thirty year old polystyrene and fixing the body work of the less skilled builder I was back then... Comments welcomed.
  10. I have seen multiple users reference the use of Future to seal areas of molded details that have been removed, maybe one of them will speak up or you can post this issue in the questions thread.
  11. I have a sneaking suspicion that you will be advised to apply a barrier coat of some kind, whether it be glue, acrylic floor polish or some kind of special primer. I have read Bill's posts regarding this kind of problem of ghosting after removing molded in emblems/features.
  12. Some things to consider with this kind of feature are; running the wires from the LEDs to the battery, how long do you want them to shine, what kind of switch and where to put it.
  13. This site will give you an indication of LEDs available for this type of project. http://www.kingbrightusa.com/category.asp?catalog_name=LED&category_name=KCSMD+LED
  14. I will second this.
  15. The brake fluid is definitely working better than the purple pool, another day of soaking and I will see how much of the 30 year old lacquer and primer will actually come off. Meanwhile, my brain is percolating the new paint job.
  16. won't be able to make three of those due to work schedule, the fourth one will cost me a work vacation day.
  17. Here is a scan of a fuzzy photo from the 80's Some pics of the engine before changing to more "factory" options. Dual quads and manifold removed, going with single 4-bbl carb setup The body is already soaking in the purple pond, but it doesn't seem to be having any effect on thirty-something year old car paint, going to have to use brake fluid. Comments welcomed.
  18. well, about $200 later and I have a new replacement radiator and hoses. the car didn't overheat to I took a chance on the thermostat (which seems okay). I feel I got off cheap since I was able to do it myself, probably would have cost three times what I paid just for parts. there's really no good way to fix an aluminium core radiator without proper parts/tools (which I don't have). the most annoying part of the process is burping the air out of the system, one of the "air bleeds" is stuck and not recommended to be forced, the other requires the from of the car to be raised and multiple sessions of letting the air out after the engine has been properly warmed up. however, the operation was a success and the patient survived.
  19. you will need to choose a photo hosting site then "link" to your photos in your posts here. there are at least a couple threads on this forum on this subject so I won't be repeating it here.
  20. noticed after I got home from work this morning that something is fail about my car radiator, fluid runs out almost as fast as I put it in. and here I thought I was going to get some time to work on some models...
  21. You just have to admire a craftsman that makes the rivets he counts. BRAVO sir!!!
  22. this is just one of the reasons why I chose not to keep a land line at my house, with my cell phone I can block the numbers so they get rejected.
