Well, it's not an independent rear. It's a leaf sprung live axle with traction bars, staggered shocks and what appears to be a Watts link on the back. The linkage is wrong, because the left side should attach to a mount above the axle near the spring perch, not on the axle, the right side should attach to a mount below the axle near the spring perch and their would be a traversing cross brace for the center propeller to mount to.

I love this little diecast. You did a great job of foiling the trim and the wheels look bitchin'. I don't think it looks too bad for a $12 diecast. I bought one in 2016 and painted the interior, chassis, and under the hood to try to take away the toyish appearance.

Perfect modelling day.

Kind of like how my day started at -9 with a wind chill of -42. The warmest it got with the wind chill was -13 while defueling and sumping an airplane outside. Thanks Bombardier @ Downsview. I love visiting Canada. -
What would YOU like to see as a model

Interesting ride! What is this? Type 3 Karmann Ghia -
I've had some success with using a machinist scale (ruler) and a fresh blade to cut narrow width strips of foil the size of the trim, long enough to lay past the area to be foiled. Then I stretch it gently to keep it straight and lay it on the trim. Slowly burnish it, careful not to move the foil around and it usually works.

In 1/24 scale, Franklin Mint made four coupes in black, Honolulu blue, Dubonnet red, and Starmist white. They made one convertible in teal and in 1/43 scale they made a black coupe. The black coupes are the most common and can be found on eBay in pretty good shape for less than $50. -

They could be releasing the Polar Lights Ford GT. They were essentially snap together and it had an engine. -

Someone found what was left of that Ghia and is planning to restore it. It is one rusty heap now. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8242245 -
Looks great. I Like the custom front end. I never could understand why AMT didn't include the lower valence on the chrome tree. I have a couple of these kits and I'm still not sure how I'm going to achieve a happy chrome. I'm never impressed with the Alclad look. It always looks like black chrome to me. I might try my wide Molotow pin and see how that works out.

Let's hope you never get hit by a modern two ton plus mid size car. It will squash you like a bug. -
I'm not sure if you have noticed, but your left cylinder head is upside down. The FE cylinder head's intake port was mostly in the intake manifold. 2/3 of valve cover is on the cylinder head and 1/3 is on the intake manifold. And now that I look at it some more, I think you have the upper two half's of the block on backwards, because those ports are for the water pump and that is the lower back half of the block.

Not sure whether this has any value...

eBay shows sold convertibles w/o box ranging from $25 to 55 in red and sandstone. and one nice red one with a box for $66. -
Well, it looks good, but I think if it were in scale, the small block Ford's headers would be past the inner fenders and the intake would be above the hoodline.

Same here, except I didn't have the 'lectric lights.

Man that looks good. I've had this kit since it was released. I started it when new. I really should finish it. -
Looks great, nice paint and great decals that never came with the stock kit. They did finally offer them in the Richard Petty version. One thing, and this is often missed on models and 1:1s. Plymouth called their version of this motor a 440 Six Barrel not a Six Pack. That was Dodge's name.

Thanks, I not sure how old this build is, but it looks like it's been around for awhile and in a dust free area. I've read Harry likes polished plastic and this is proof in the pudding. Most of the metal parts are painted to look like their corresponding component. A lot of the plastic is as molded, brush detail painted or polished. All that shiny red is polished without clear. After looking at some Protar kits 1/9 online and comparing them to like 1/12 Tamiya (incredible detail) kits. Harry did a masterful job with this kit. I feel fortunate to have it. Be sure to check the rest of the pictures at my Fotki link under Harry's Bike album.

Although I was not lucky enough to know Harry as may did on this forum, I did respect his words of wisdom. He was quick to offer advice and proper criticism to those who wanted it. He was also an avid builder and his ability to reproduce lifelike features in miniature were well known. Add my name to the list of those fortunate enough to have one of Harry's models in his collection. I became aware of Amy's eBay listings and was fortunate enough to win one of his motorcycles he built. It had suffered from some minor damage prior to shipment. The mirror and one of the levers had broken off. I have since repaired those items and now have it in a case. Also, she did a wonderful job of packing the bike and the box that came with it.
