  1. I used the interior from a 59 Fury. I used part of the Fury body as a donor for the 60 wagon project so I found myself with that interior available. Fit beautifully, although I had to add some 020 stock to both sides to fill the gap between the body and the interior. I'm ok with cheating a bit with authenticity... it ends up in my display case anyway ?
  2. I don't change them from the 60. I had enough on my plate with what I had. The 59 was definitely a bit different but this was close enough. Another one of my lines in the sand ?
  3. Did this Dodge in parallel with my 59/60 wagon project and it helped fill the time during the drying delays on the wagon. I usually start with built-ups in worse condition but this one was actually in really good condition other than having to remove the skirts and source a replacement interior as this one had the dreaded glued-in cloth interior. I've never found a way to remove that stuff and have anything decent left afterwards. I used Scalefinishes Mocha and Tamiya X-10 Gunmetal. Lots of foiling/detail on this one with BMF and Molotow.
  4. A few pics of the blending of the front clip. Filled as much of the gaps with various sizes of stock and then used either superglue or putty. The passenger side cut had a bit of an angle after I'd cut it that's why it looks kind of weird with that piece of sheet in it. I needed to try and keep the clip level with the body. Here's one of my having to grind away part of the 60 rockers to look more towards a 59 plus it helped line up with the bottom of the fenders The taillights were my nightmare. Lots of restarts and re-do's with them. Still not super happy, but...... Thanks for following along
  5. Made a good trade with Bill (Bills72sj) for some 67 annual mustang parts. Thanks Bill!
  6. Thanks for the comments about memories from doing "family" builds. It sure helps when you hit roadblocks in the build. Pics today are more from the blending of the rear fenders (I didn't include pics of the passenger side as they were pretty similar to what I had to do on the driver's side), adding the 59 roof perimeter trim (if I remember right it was 020 round stock) and removing most of the 60 trim from the tailgate. I ended up leaving the Plymouth script where it was, even though the 59 was on the opposite side of the tailgate. I drew the line many times during this build . Added a section of sheet to build up a depression in the fender
  7. Progress on the rear fenders. Had to add some sheet stock to be able to reinforce where the fenders meet the body.
  8. I used the glass from the 60 made a rear from clear sheet later. Lining up the front clip Removing the 60 rear fenders Needed to remove all trim including door handles from the 60
  9. The HT plastic is harder than the wagon's, which was a later issue and softer. Pro's and con's to both ?
  10. Unfortunately I only have this one, but I have good memories of the colors and Scout emblems (that I later make decals of). I was 9 in this pic and he had the car til I was 16.
  11. After removing the front clip I started on the rear fenders. All Fury trim needed to be removed and the tail lights needed to be narrowed. The taillight mods were one of the many disappointments I had doing the build. Both placement and size. Kept plugging away...
  12. I needed luck with this one Tom ?.. lots of frustration and comprimises.
  13. Next car in line to build from my family's past is my grandfather's 1959 Plymouth Suburban. Grandpa was the original exec director of the Madison (Wi) Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and remained at that job til he died in 1968. As part of the job he was furnished a business car periodically and used it as his own. The problem for me was that there wasn't a 59 wagon available that I could find so I was going to have to try and create my own as best I could. Full disclosure, I've been building this for a few months and currently am almost finished and will post a few pix then. I was able to make a good trade with Stitchdup (thanks again Les) to score the 60 Plymouth Fury Cop wagon. This was to donate the interior, side glass, chassis, and body shell. The remainder, front clip, rear fenders, both bumpers, front glass, and wheels come from a kit body 59 Fury HT. Thankfully, both Johan kits measured up to each other relatively well. It could've been much harder (for my skills anyway) than it has been. I've taken pics as I built and will post some hopefully in some order. This wagon might be ho-hum to many but I remember it fondly and kept me interested in finishing during some of the more frustrating stages. First up was to cut free the front clip and rear fenders from the HT, using my tamiya scriber to get the lines started then finishing with tamiya saw blades. Also began the process of removing all body trim.
  14. I've sold a few built ups in the past and have had two issues where the buyer asks for a partial refund because parts have come loose during shipment. When listing I always add that I would pack as securely as possible but can't guarantee something might come loose and need to be reattached. In both cases I issued a partial refund because of my impression that ebay will always favor the buyer in this case, even though I stated clearly the risk in buying assembled models through the mail. I have another one or two built ups that I'd like to list but am reluctant because of this. Has anyone here gone through this with ebay and has ebay ruled in your favor or the buyer? Does it even pay to include a warning in the listing description?
  15. Welcome Teddie... I wouldn't worry too much about the quality of your early builds. We all learn skills as we go and that's the best part of model building in my opinion. Good luck and be sure and post your builds.
  16. Another retiree! Welcome!
  17. Up here near Minocqua my show choices are really limited or non-existent. I guess the Twin Cities might be a choice too. Thanks Casey
  18. I didn't know about Model Empire having an open house. I shop there whenever we're in the Falls visiting our daughters. When is the open house Casey?
  19. Does anyone know of a Milwaukee area show earlier than the 12/12/2021 show in Waukesha? How about the Serb Hall show? I missed their last one this past March.
  20. I'm beginning to lean this way if I can't source the parts
  21. Thanks for the replies. I'll post in the Wanted section soon.
  22. Each to his own I guess. It is a fairly clean build (came apart nicely) that I could leave as it, but my enjoyment come from the restoration to as stock as they came in the kit, unless it's a build that is just so rare as to have to wait forever to source correct parts. Even though parts from a newer kit that interchange with an older one is kind of cheating, I'm ok with that. I have a pile of these projects in the wings and you could say the hunt for parts is part of the challenge. I haven't built a kit from a box in years and I'm ok with that. Thanks Snake
  23. Just going to try and re-build as stock as I can and am not concerned with better detailing on the underside. It was built (cleanly) as a mild custom with the custom rear end pieces and cammer engine. Otherwise, it's just missing some pieces to build it stock. I can post in the Wanted section and see if I can find anything. The major problem I think is the stock rear end pieces and side louvers. Was hoping the new release R2 Fastback would interchange with my annual. Thank you Paul
  24. I have an AMT annual built up 67 fastback mustang that needs a number of parts for me to begin restoration. Rather than trying to locate the individual parts (which I'm fine with doing) I was wondering if the latest Round 2 release of the 67 fastback would be a source for these pieces. I don't know the history of the original release kit and later releases.
