Looking For...
maxwell48098 replied to hooknladderno1's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
It would be nice to see Round 2 release a '79 Dodge 4X4 W100 pickup. The only '79 Dodge pickups that MPC made were 1-0418 "Fire Fighter" and 1-0432 "Pumpin' Iron" (box shows '78 grille and hood, but kit has '79 parts) which were versions of the SWB '78 Lil Red Truck kits with different decals. Putting the '79 chrome tree and hood in the kit box, they could claim the kit as being "NEW" as there never was a LWB '79 Dodge pickup. A.J. -
AMT/Round2 Discontinued 378 Peterbilt
maxwell48098 replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
My guess is that they bought X number of kits from Italeri per the contract that they had to see how well these are accepted in the marketplace. So once those are gone, they're gone., until Italeri releases them again on their own. A.J. -
Moebius 1966 F-100 Styleside.....My Take..
maxwell48098 replied to thatz4u's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I often thought that it might have cost more for Moebius to remove the extra parts from the chrome trees after being molded, but before plating, than including them for modelers to use, or add to their parts boxes. It looks like with the 60's Ford pickups they decided to leave the extra, unused parts on the trees. For the price point, the extra parts are a bonus and welcome addition for use with other builds. I know those extra exterior rear view mirrors will make their way onto other builds/rebuilds. Thanks Moebius. Just my thoughts, A.J. -
This is my point of view. One thing I've learned over my 6 decades of building automotive models, is that if you want something that is available in resin, but it today when you see it, as tomorrow it may no longer be available. Most resin producers aren't like Modelhaus that did it for several decades, and availability of their quality products was almost taken for granted......until they decided to retire. Even if you're not sure that you are going to build a project with the resin, rather have it and not use it, then not being able to get it when you really want it later. And if you later decide not to use the resin parts/conversions that you bought, you can always offer them for sale to your friends who do want them.

34 Ford big truck
maxwell48098 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I built a 1934 Ford pumper back in the '80's using an original AMT '34 Ford pickup for the fenders, cab, and front frame. Everything else was scratch built, including the wheels and tires. -

Moebius 66 Ford F100 Pickup preview
maxwell48098 replied to SteveG's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
FYI - From my time working in a Ford dealer from '65 - '72, I can attest that a 352 in a short box F100 would really haul. -

Autocar dump coming this summer
maxwell48098 replied to brian falcone's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Local hobby shop got them in last week, but I've still got 4 left from earlier releases. A.J. -
Notice that the tire decals are for BF Goodrich tires which were never used by Chrysler on any vehicles of this era. Their main tire company was Goodyear, as shown on the image of the 1:1 vehicle. And the tires were bias ply Polyglas line tires, and not radials.

Moebius Uitlity Bed On A 97 F150
maxwell48098 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It also drops right onto the '90's Dodge 2500 pickup, as well as the long wheelbase '70's Dodge and Chevy pickups. After all, an 8 foot bed and an 8 foot utility box should be the same and 1:1 wheelbases varied by a few inches at most. A.J. -

Rather than provide an extra vinyl tire and plastic rim for the spare, AMT included the plastic tire that included the rim. A.J.
