A REALLY rear engine Corvair - unsafe at any depth!
1959scudetto replied to mr moto's topic in Model Cars
Might have been a crazy idea - but perfectly executed! -
Excellent model, Mario (as usual) - finally a stock build with blackwall tires !
-
Well done classic British roadster with steelies instead of the ever-present wire wheels !
-
The Revell AG is a Fujimi reissue, albeit molded in white instead of red like the Fujimi (I now have both in my stash)

Paris-Dakar 1980 - what if ?
1959scudetto replied to 1959scudetto's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Thank you Anders, this conversion is pure fantasy - I had the Marreau R 4 decals for some years but had no intention to replicate their R 4. The Dacia/R 12 got its wheels from Ixo's Alpine A 110 + roll cage, fire extinguisher and some other parts from the spares, aluminium tube for the roof-mounted exhaust pipe. I did not even have the correct color - only Tamiya camel yellow - so I masked the upper part of the body (including window surrounds) and sprayed the rest with this paint (additional lights were even taken from Italeri's truck accessories !) -
The realism of your dioramas always makes me speechless, Charles - but this one, especially the night shots with lights on... Marvellous!

Seems like you had to struggle a long time until you came to the final steps, Rich - but the result is a very good representation of this F1 car. Assembling that front wing and suspension parts would be a nightmare for me, that is why I prefer sports racers and older F1 cars. (Only the builder himself knows the weak points and issues that his model might have, the onlookers would not notice them unless they are pointed out !)

Very nice model of the dusty car, Chad - you only have to add the license plates. (Were mandatory, as the cars were driven in normal traffic on public roads during the connection stages between the special ones). I will keep your pictures for my buidling own version (in my stash) - especially for the Safari rally there are 3 possiblities: Clean (before the start), dusty or heavily mud-covered if you goofed with paint and/or the livery :-)

Thank you Bruce, Mike, Larry, Chris and Carl for your kind comments.

1963 Lola GT
1959scudetto replied to Gramps46's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
This Lola will be a great model when it is done, Gary - I'm urgently looking forward to it ! -
Well done, Tim - clean model and the wheels of the Fujimi 356 C are just perfect for it.
-
Very good looking Chevelle, Mario - awesome paint, but it seems indeed to attract dust particles.

Paris-Dakar 1980 - what if ?
1959scudetto replied to 1959scudetto's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Thanks all, Car. Pete,Patrick, Phil and Dave - unfortunately, these days are long gone, BIG money rules (as almost everywhere), and the Dakar has only kept the name (partially, at least), but has nothing to do with its origin any more. -
As we are used to see from you, again you delivered a wonderful model, Anders - down to the last detail!

AMT Kenworth K123 stretched
1959scudetto replied to Bronzekeg's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great looking late 70's Coe, Ken (in your trademark colcors, too!) -
This is as nice as your other models, Mario - your eyeballing is excellent! The color seems correct to me (saw the movie back in the 70's at the cinema) - immediately Peter Fonda and Susan George come to my mind and the unhappy ending with the train after being chased by the helicopter...
-
Very nice, highly detailed Nova - Roy Scheider's high-revving car from a chase in the "French Connection" movie comes to my mind.
-
Thanks Mario - today I'm going to wet-sand at least the primer and the top coat (eventually with some polishing compound at the end) - back then I didn't even have a polishing kit. I just sprayed everything on without refining anything.

Heller Citroen DS3 WRC 2013
1959scudetto replied to galaxyg's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Excellent result; Michael - your efforts really pay off! -
Ca. 1986 box stock build - car lacquer + clearcoat sprayed from the can, Humbrol silver for the trim. Main issues: paint with orange peel, warped hood - model is long gone, pictures from 2005 and December 2020 (before selling it):
