    '61 Falcon Gasser

Thank you for the comments gentlemen. I have a '66 Falcon project close to completion: And a '65 AFX:
  2. Enjoyed watching this come together.
  3. Information from the the 1973 Rules Book. https://www.cottonowens.com/scrapbook/construction_guidelines.php
  4. Very nice.

    '61 Falcon Gasser

Update: Added a few more sponsor decals re-routed the brake line to cleanup the installation painted the hood semi-gloss back to represent a fiberglass gel coat
  6. Looks like they the parking lights are not present next the headlights. Doesn't that make it a '72-'73 model?
  7. Not trying to start an argument, only a discussion so we can all learn. I respect your knowledge and your great NASCAR builds. NASCAR.com indicates: GENERATION 2: 1967-1980 -Stock body with a modified frame. -Modified chassis became part of the spot with Holman-Moody, Banjo Matthews and Hutchenson-Pagan building chassis for teams. 1967 FORD FAIRLANE -Due to unibody construction on the stock vehicle, NASCAR allowed purpose built race chassis for safety. https://www.nascar.com/gallery/the-evolution-of-nascar-sprint-cup-cars/#photo-1
  8. Starting on page 4 of Coulter's book there is a timeline of the evolution of the cars up to 1997. For 1967 is says: "Stock production-based frames were no longer required. Teams could build fully fabricated frames that resembled a stock frame for safety reasons."
  9. This is a great book, I highly recommend it.
  10. Coming along nicely.
  11. Maybe it was the base model "Fiat 131" which didn't have the wheel arch extension, front, roof and rear spoiler etc of the Abarth.
  12. Sweet! That is quite the garage Stig has there!
  13. Looks good in red or blue too Ray. Quattroruote makes very nice 1/24 scale diecast of the street car.
  14. Very nice!
  15. Thanks Steve. A 427 wedge would propel a '61 Falcon nicely. Posting these photos has caused me to revisit the build and I have made a few minor changes, re-routed the clunky looking brake line, added a few more sponsor decals and painted the hood semigloss black. I'll post pictures once the paint dries.
  16. A friend on another forum, outstanding builder and very knowledgeable on rally called my attention to the extremely over-sized engine in the Esci/Revel/Italeri kit. To my eye the engine did appear oversized but until he sent me these photos I thought I could live with it. Not now unfortunately so I'll have to go the scratch building route for much of the engine. Down the rabbit hole we go!! Esci Engine: Hasegawa Lancia 037 engine or Esci Lancia Beta MonteCarlo - both used the Fiat Twin-Cam as the base engine same as the 131
  17. Nice looking project Chris - you should finish it or trade it to me!
  18. Welcome Meiri.
  19. I really enjoy taking a much older kit an adding better tooled underpinnings to it. As an example this '61 Falcon I bought that was just body bumpers and glass - turned it into a gasser using modern tooled period parts.
  20. Turned out great.
  21. My Merc build with the PL chassis and 429.
