  1. It was a opened kit that my daughter found while weekend shopping at a Thrift store. The MPC Pinto Pony Express wagon she also got was open but both kits had everything. The Volare came with a hideous "padded vinyl 1/2 top" that the previous owner had already glued on. The Volare body has the T-top molded into the roof. With his overly abundant use of tube glue application in one spot, I was able to remove the faux vinyl top but had a 1 inch diameter section that didn't want to be evicted. Saw, scrape, sand, putty, sand some more, primer, sand some more, putty again, sand even more, primer......this could go on for days ( the post) I made the decision to sand the raised T-top strips off to go with a solid roof. When I get around to the Fuzzduster I will probably go with an open T-top. Enjoy your posts immensely and do look forward to the next one. I've had her for about 35 years...she's a keeper, just like my wife of 40 years this May! Thanks for looking and comment everyone.
  2. You normally wouldn't associate Plymouth Volare with the Roadrunner nameplate but the 76 through 80 F body Plymouth were just a trim package. The 76/77 models the 318 engine came standard while the 360 came with a 2 bbl carb and single exhuast. The 78/79 models offered the 360 with a 4 bbl carb but only the 79 year model came with dual exhaust rated at 195 hp. The 80 year model and last of the lineage came with a redesign front end, the slant six 225 Cid as standard and the 318 as the only V8 option. Kudos to my daughter for getting this for me. The text she sent asked me if the Volare and a MPC Pinto wagon were rare. My reply was only w/o the Pinto but get it anyway. I borrowed a rear spoiler and rear side window louvers from a MPC Fuzzduster kit that I got from a friend. Unusual that the Fuzzduster had 3 rear spoiler, 2 stock and 1 custom, and the rear window louvers. Since the engine in the kit looked undersized( like a V6). I used the engine from a Joker Goon Monaco which fell right in. The rims were a close 2nd to the original based on a YouTube clip that I got my inspiration from. Bought Silver stripe decals from Microscale decals to custom apply to the hood, lower sides and rear panel. Used ModelMaster lacquer Hugger Orange to replicate the Spitfire Orange from the Chrysler Color chart (Sorry GM guys......not! Lol)
  3. Heck of a save! From before to after, you're A-1 in my book!
  4. Last time I saw it on your work table the Pit Crew didn't have the tires( or the body on the chassis) on! Looks Great! P.S. You might make Qualifying since the track officials didn't find the Acme Go-faster module during Pre-Qualifying! Lol
  5. Yep.....the car looks nice too.
  6. Well now I'm jealous..... I want a Rebel SST! FANTASTIC!......Still jealous
  7. Bob Falfa might have had to think twice before lining up wheel to wheel......but his Cowboy hat might have been a little to tight.
  8. I've used Dupli-Color Hampstead Green on several builds and always seem to compliment the look I wanted to achieve. Be it Ford, Chevrolet or Chrysler it seem to be the right in-house poly sample on the color chart. Whether you saw it in a parking lot, gradually overtaking it on the highway or knew of someone in the neighborhood that had the same car sitting in the driveway.....we've all seen it. Great build!
  9. That Calypso Coral pops! Got 1 or 2 of the older Cobra and GT kits but may get one for the new decals
  10. Immaculate build!
  11. Wow! Looks like a gem of a kit to put together. Love the body style, quite surprised on the level of detail!
  12. You need something fast when dissatisfied customers start returning.... Gorgeous!
  13. Just the engine under the hood would win an award! Man that is one sharp Vette. Great job Cruz!?
  14. I've seen one those, or one just like it, before. They started out appearing in my rear view, my right foot got a cramp in it when it was on the accelerator and for some odd reason those flashing blue twinkle things got smaller, and smaller and.....poof! Gone! He had so much fun playing he called his buddies to git in on the game that they all waited for me to get where they were at. I found them they didn't find me, they just knew where to be so I could find them! Hiding behind their cars was a great ideal but having their cars all in the road, kinda blocking it, was a dead give away as to who it was. When I completely stopped they all jumped out a hooting and a hollering as if they were at a surprise party for someone in mind. The next thing you won't believe is that..... Oh by the way, nice looking Chicago Police Cruiser....
  15. Having done the #19 Truex Tracker Bass Pro, you certainly upped it to the next level! Very big payoff when a little patience is applied!
  16. Hmmm...Deja Vue? Looks fantastic. On my 2nd one...
  17. Built the same kit not quite 2 years ago, same color, had issues with the hood and fit and almost resisted the urge to put on the "anti-establishment" decals on........ But I gave Peace a chance, had a Coke and a smile and did the "Real Thing"........I slopped that baby up with those Coca Cola, good vibes, power to the people and stuck it to the people's ride so everyone could get the message!....... A shortened yellow VW Beetle with a dune buggy chassis, parts box wider tires and a scratch built custom exhaust with a Tornado applied kit decals that would make any self respecting hippie vote Republican (1971 Era, that is!). In other words I had a ball building it, unusual and unique. Yours looks Great!
  18. Fantastic on both builds! Though my interests lean towards the Factory stock realm, I'm really digging the "Vlown (Blown) Volare Roadrunner"! Exceptionally clean and crisp build and I believe you hit the "Wow factor" with the paint scheme and stripe package. I have just finished a MPC 79 Volare Roadrunner. Just a few finishing touches to go before I release it into the Styrene Jungle but still amazed on how little styling characteristics have changed from 77 to 79 vehicle year models. Final word....."Wow"!
  19. Looks like it 20 mph faster in White! Sharp!
  20. Outstanding! By the then, the generation that fought in World War II and grew up with the year one T-bird saw it as a luxury model with current and exciting styling cues that still carried the performance aspect. The Oldsmobile Tornado, Buick Wildcat, Pontiac Bonneville, Chevrolet Impala, Dodge Monaco and Plymouth Fury all shared the same characteristics as their competitors for the same targeted buyers
  21. Would the drink in the cup holder have a seat belt or hold down strap when going WOT ( wide open throttle) during the Rallye? Lol! Love it!
  22. A "Crisp" build that definitely pops!
  23. Nothing is more satisfying that presenting a gift that elicits a smile and a fond memory of a caring friend from then on when she looks upon it.
