Hmmm, I popped into my local Ollies yesterday and they barely had any kits at all. Do you think the kits you picked up were recently added to your store?

Thanks for the comments, guys! Over the years I have used a number of different options. I have used the Eduard belts. I did have trouble with the paint flaking off. I have also made my own.

Man, I just LOVE that box art in Casey's post, (a few post above this one). I can't help but think the box art alone sold many, many kits.

"suctioned to the seat"...yup, I agree with you. Of all of the tasks to build a model, masking is probably my least favorite thing to do. I don't think I'm good at it and to be honest, my results bear that statement out. This Fujimi kit does not have a full drivetrain. It has this little insert. Fairly hard to detail paint. It will be fairly visible in the completed model so I did the best I could. Masking up the exhaust. I often use Silly Putty or Blue Tack for masking. Here is the final engine bay. The blue stain on the exhaust is exaggerated in this picture. It is much more subtle to the naked eye.

I really enjoy these big scale kits. There is so much room for adding detail. The Tamiya kits have a lot of detail right out of the box. Your Ferrari looks very nice.

I have not been very active on here for awhile. I have been off of work the last two weeks due to surgery. I have been on here much more and am finding and taking time to read through some threads. What I have noticed is you and I have many of the same build interests. This kit is another one we have in common. For a long time this was the most expensive kit that I owned, (I actually have the Testors kit). I doubt I will ever add as much detail as you do but you are an inspiration for what can be done. I really appreciate the amount of work you put into your builds and even more so, I appreciate how you are willing to share how and what you do to achieve it. This hobby could use a few more modelers like you!

As has been already stated, so great to see you back! I count you as one of my favorite modelers. I am always amazed by how "clean" your models are, how smooth your finishes are, (not just body exterior paint), and how the colors and textures are spot on. So, welcome back! and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us.

Thanks for the tip, Alex! I am keeping this one out-of-the-box so as to stay within most model contest's rules for that class. It really bothers me that it didn't include anything, not even decals.

These kinds of builds can be real soul suckers. They just sap the energy from you. In the end you do get the satisfaction of knowing that you persevered through a PITA build. I think your Lambo looks just fine. Really fine! Nice work as always.

Thanks for the kind words, guys! If you have read my postings in this thread, you will notice that I said I am further along in the build than what I post. I will try to get this thread caught up with my current progress. I finished the engine bay this weekend and began decaling. I was doing some test fitting of the body and found that the engine assembly is interfering with the way the body sits down over the chassis. I have done lots of sanding and have more to go. Anyhow, here is the beginning of the work on the engine.

Interior is done and installed on the chassis plate. As I stated earlier, this is being built for "box stock" or "out of box" categories for model contests. Unfortunately, there are no seat belts, decals or otherwise, included in this kit.... What a stupid oversight on Fujimi's part. The seats are a nice flat red. They are showing up a little overexposed in the following pictures.

Yup, really weird. I was able to post everything today. I did get the 404 error on my first attempt, so I started a new reply to my build post. It took. I added one picture and it took. I edited again and that also posted. So now I have posted my entire original post that refused to post yesterday. I have no idea what went wrong yesterday but it all appears to be remedied.

Working on the rear diffuser. The car has the Italian flag colors on the rear diffuser. I had to paint this. It was a little tricky to get this done. It came out OK but not perfect. I also had to paint a small piece for the front chin.

Time to update this build. As with most of us, life has a way of getting in the way of bench time. It looks like it has been about a year and a half since I've updated this thread. Fortunately, I have built other models in this time frame. I've recently had a minor surgery and am off of work, so I thought it would be a good time to work on this model. I would like to have this finished up by the end of September so that I can enter it in a model contest. I have decided to keep this model "box stock" so that I can enter it in that class at future contests. On to the update! The tire on the left has the decal applied and the tire on the right has the decal coated with dull coat.

OK, trying to bring this one back to life but have been having trouble posting to this thread.

I'm not too computer savvy. I deleted browsing history and cookies. Funny thing is, I cannot load the forum after this happens. Even weirder is it happened on my Windows computer and my android phone!?!? I had to wait about an hour before I could get back on the forum. After I made the posts in this forum, I went back to the "on the workbench" forum and tried to post text and one picture and got the 404 error. It should be noted that today is the first time I've had problems posting. Thanks to anyone for any help provided!

Both. This is the edit. I'm just typing to see if it has anything to do with the length of the text, as that is the only thing that I have changed. Sorry for wasting anyone's time. It is very frustrating to load text and pics only to get the dreaded Error 404, repeatedly.
