Steve Goldman knows more about this one, but IIRC Ernie Petit (former LIndberg) wanted to start up this company and release kits from former Jo-Han tooling, tooling which survived the looting of the company, but like anything Jo-Han, it was like opening a can of worms and the project was cancelled. A decade or so later Moebius tried the same, but they too failed in their attempt. So kids....what did we learn here? Anything Jo-Han is contaminated, it will never, ever come back, there more chance, that one of you who're reading this, will win the powerbal jackpot. There I said it Ps. If one of you do win the powerball, I'll take 20´%, because my positive vibes facilitated your win.

Hobbico - BANKRUPT!
Luc Janssens replied to niteowl7710's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well the American managers who worked out the deal, took their money and ran...I don't see them getting the blame?! The implosion of Revell was all Hobbico, also a foreign company?.... Please stop this nonsense, there's enough BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in this world already -

Thought Daimler Benz was a automotive company...must have been mistaken -
Positives to come from the Revell Deal?

Håkan, from what I've understand Paul has a medical condition, which makes it hard for him to cap uncap IIRC Paul, maybe it's easier to just uncap meaning using no capital letter, would that work for you? (all caps is difficult to read, qnd is considered shouting in internet lingo) Thanks -

The proverbial nail....which leads to, with Hobbico out of the way, will they go back to knocking on Tamiya's back door? I hope they will.... -

I fully agree that we must learn from the past, but sadly history always seems to repead itself, one can withness it with ones offspring, who don't take your advice and therefore make the same mistakes as we did. Blame it on human nature?! -
I wonder if two kits would fit that box, so both could be build

Sorry Dave as much as I value you.... that line is getting old, sure the Daimler-Chrysler deal went sour, but it's not fair asuming that every time Germans are involved, things will go south. Also US companies didn't bid (enough) so American business isn't interested in model kits, remember when Ertl, to dress-up the figures, prior to the sale to RC2 (or whatever they called themselves) aborted the whole model kit division?, not nice of those fellow countrymen, no? I'm going with James here, give them some time to sort everything out.... -
In all the years Round2 is in charge of the legacy THAT Amt/mpc/Lindberg/Ertl left behind, I think I bought 4 kits; - '17 Camaro - '79 Pinto Pony Express -'78 Ford F350 Pickup camper special -'64 Plymouth Lawman So they help me to prevent overspending, and keeps the stock from growing too much

STOP THE PRESS! All new 1977 Oldsmobile NASCAR kit
Luc Janssens replied to DanR's topic in WIP: NASCAR
I don't see this as a growing pain, this is a more like a public relations nightmare, but on the other hand is there such a thing as bad publicity? Anyway let us hope for them the market is forgiven and that dealers don't end up with lots of unsold stock, which can and will jeopardize the unfolding of their business plan. -
SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...

Time for Revell to re-release theirs too then -
STOP THE PRESS! All new 1977 Oldsmobile NASCAR kit
Luc Janssens replied to DanR's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Hmm...from what I read here, this is not a good way to premier in the model kit biz., especially when trying to cater to enthusiast modelers, with a premium prized product. One can't blame this on a language barrier, or that the engineers don't or didn't have the cultural bagage and imagery, to transform 2D photographic material and carpenter rule measurements, into 3D files. Now they will have two work at least twice as hard, to undo this bad first impression, consumers will have, checking out this new company's introductory release, cuz I'm sure on social media, the comment's won't be nice! They got themselves in a little mess...so it seems. Anyway, If the guys want a good project engineer, please contact me. -
dunno what"s in the kit, not much of an engine expert
-
Value parts packs, fill a standard model kit box with tires. Cuz think that with the current ones, you pay more for the packaging then actual product.

Jeep Rubicon
Luc Janssens replied to martinfan5's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
For a Jeep a multi piece body design is IMHO the best way to go, otherwise you end up with too many sinkmarks (look at Tamiya's Wrangler) There's also an advantage for the manufaturer, cuz it's cheaper to tool that way, so with those savings, IMHO they should've included an engine, certainly when you look at the detail incorporated into the underpinnings of the kit. So I'm still not sure if I'm gonna add this one to my collection. -
Looks great, and you made the chassis really pop, good to see there's a way to fix those headlamps, it was so un-Monogram back then. Wonder what the rationale was behind that choice,.... Bob Johnson in da house?
-
Remember when Monogram announced this one, I pre-ordered as soon as I saw the pic in the catalog, but was suprised when my dealer handed over me the actual kit....

Hobbico - BANKRUPT!
Luc Janssens replied to niteowl7710's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1) That would be a horror scenario, like a nuclear winter for American car modelers, too much money tied up in tooling, nothing left for inovation. 2) is there a very wealthy retired ex-model Guru residing in FL, who's wife is running a beauty salon cuz as we all know to make a small fortune in the model kit industry, one needs to start with a big fortune Anyway....lets sit back and see how it will unfold, in the next comming weeks, months? -

Maybe they thought it was this company...Revel -
Cool! I wanted to order one from the Modelhaus, for like forever, but never did....so good to see that Moebius is thinking outside the standard box Thanks for the pics Steve!
