ROUND2 SUPERBUG GASSER/ 57 FORD ISSUE
ChrisBcritter replied to AC Norton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Brett! Sure enough, an unchromed chrome tree, 2/3 of the trophy and 1/2 of the TV set. Plus a bit more flash than I expected. -
Check out this thread I posted a while back - might be what you need: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/117424-easy-reflectors-for-round-headlights/#comment-1700793

Crestliner decals in AMT '49 Ford?
ChrisBcritter replied to ChrisBcritter's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks dodgefever! Looks like AMT trimmed the edges, rockers and emblems in silver. Still a good idea for a mild custom; could also be good patterns for making the trim from Evergreen strip - or even photoetching? -

Glad I could help a little bit! Here's a thought: Have a truck pulling in carrying the new-style Zephyr sign while a 1/25 scale worker lights up a torch to cut down the weathered one...

Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
ChrisBcritter replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In Harry's honor: My first scratchbuilt distributor bracket setup. He made me want to push myself to do it. R.I.P,. Harry, and thanks for the incentive to do better. -
Crossing another off the wish list: Two (OK, 1 2/3) Aurora Alfa Romeo 2000 Spiders. These have been tough to find, and although they're 1/32 scale , it's the only game in town for the type except for the Atlas Leo 1/24 diecast. Now to find a cheap '61 Tempest sedan...

1963 Pontiac Bonneville, New, Outdoor Shots.
ChrisBcritter replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Cars
Another magnificent job! Gives us all something to shoot for. Good luck with the move - how do you intend to pack up the finished models? I think he meant underhood wiring - and I second what he said. -
Might as well pass on one failed experiment: I used some Micro Foil Cement to paste down the embossing powder, then shot a coat of Tamiya semi-gloss black over it. After it dried looked very good; had a nice nubbly texture. A day or two later, the surface had split up and shrunk, leaving big cracks all over it. I'm guessing the lacquer reacted with the adhesive somehow.

Brett, could you please open up the Ford and show us some photos of the parts trees? -
The Javelin & Other AMC Muscle Cars
ChrisBcritter replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jo-Han's a dead issue. Chrysler owns the copyright to all the AMC brands; the model companies (or really Moebius - AMT is 99% reissues and Revellogram wouldn't bother with anything vintage they couldn't sell as a lowrider) would be dealing with them directly. -

Alan, did you check the "Tips, Tricks and Tutorials" section of the board? -
Guess that's the last time the stock version was released. Wonder if the stock parts are still on blocked-off runners, like with some old AMT molds?

Excellent! I really should get some of those carbs... Do you have a shot of the rear end showing the mods to the taillights/rear panel?

That Monogram '36 Ford coupe is a version I've never seen before; when was it issued and is it stock only? Also, is it molded in tan like on the box?

There's one on the clearance rack at the Libertyville Hobby Lobby for $5.99 - missing a bottle and maybe the hose - good for a spare if anyone needs it.

That happens to you too, huh? Drives me nuts. At least the '62 was about the least "hurt" of the ones in the hole. -
