  1. Most of he subjects that make me buy came out long before I was born. That you should only be interested in the stuff of your childhood always struck me as a very limited way to view the world, and really, kind of sad. As for the box art, I can honestly say that I don't care. What's in the box is what's important. If I can get a better kit of the same subject at a lower price, that's where I'm going to go. In the past, I may have snarked that if you want art, buy a poster, but maybe that's not such a bad idea? Some of those old kits did have some very nice box art, and if collectibles are what you're after, maybe there's a market for some nice art prints of classic box art?
  2. It's closer to me than Chinook & Hobby West's' old store, and I've walked to that.
  3. This should get you up to speed. https://www.bugattipage.com/
  4. How did I miss this? It was practically in my back yard. I will definitely have to correct that mistake next year.
  5. From what I can tell, it was a fairly common upgrade by Type 35 owners. The radiator on the Monogram Bug, is also wider, and more like a Type 51. The Monogram kit looks lit it's a faithful replica of what is basically a "day two" Bugatti.
  6. Looks like there's something for everyone.
  7. Their loss. Europe and Japan seem to be happy with 1/24. so the old Monogram stuff might go over well there.
  8. Before my time too, though I would not be upset if someone found a way to bring it back.
  9. Not quite...
  10. The last time in was reissued wasn't that long ago.
  11. Funny thing, I actually bought the Raider's Coach when I was young, but it had the wrong parts trees inside, so I took it back for another kit.
  12. Though judging by all the car show I attended in the early through late '70s, the whacky show car trend was just nicely getting started. And of course, American Graffiti spawned a revival of interest in more traditional customs in the '70s.
  13. This was back in the early '70s, so alas, they're all lost.
  14. I have the Stutz, though it could do with a little restoration. The thing about the kit that really impressed me at the time was just the whole idea of making updated versions of old classics. I think I spent that whole summer with books of old cars and a stack of paper drawing up modern versions
  15. It's all right. Nobody's prefect.
  16. Clearly someone who wasn't quite as clever as he thought he was.

  18. The late model DB4 Series V Vantage has covered headlights, and looks just like a DB5, which is why they used it when they didn't have a production DB5 ready for the film.
  19. Apparently, what Connery drove through most of Goldfinger was a late model DB4.
  20. This is a stroll down memory lane. Thanks for sharing!
  21. We'll see, but I hope some of those 1/18 offerings make it there.
  22. A handsome machine. Even a front engine version would look pretty nice.
