Testors Turn Signal Amber Metallic
JTalmage replied to Jim B's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes there for a while everywhere I went had the yellow. I would check back often and finally saw the orange color make a come back... almost like they mixed a bad batch of it and sent it out the door. -
AMT ProShop PrePaint Compatability
JTalmage replied to Joe Handley's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I figure, worst case scenario, if the paint becomes ruined, it will give me an excuse to sand any mold lines or fill any divots on the casting. Then put an even better paint job on it. -
Wow. Astounding work! welcome!

Holy smokes.... I LOVE the ford trucks!!! I LOVE the 65-66 models. It goes sooo well with the bumpsides that are out now. I have a few versions of that kit. But the 65-66 models... I'm gonna need like 4 or 5 of each!!!! I can't wait for those to hit the shelves. I just hope none of them are "model king" exclusives... I hate having to rush to get them before they're gone. Like the '69.... I waited for it, that way once all the trucks were released I could just get them all at once.... nope... bad idea.

Wow. Beautiful work. I'm pretty sure I know the style I'll be building my '29.... something similar to this. It's just sooo right. *quietly wanders off and looks for the WIP thread*

I'm not a big truck guy, but I want that Ford F cab, chassis, and dump bed something fierce!

66 Suburban Rat Panel
JTalmage replied to thatz4u's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks great, but I'd black wash the grille, yellow wash the headlights, and dull up the bumpers around the grille. -
Most generous of you. Sent ya a PM

I built a replica of the Crusher Camaro with the blown big block and finished it last year, based on the Revell '67. I'd show ya a pic but Photobucket is dumb. I love the Houndstooth interior decals. I'd love to have some for mine, as I left my seats plain. Looking great so far, keep it up!

Love the look of that Cobra race team.

Taking some forced time off/away, for the foreseeable future...
JTalmage replied to JTalmage's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I'm sticking around a few days to reply to posts/PM's/etc. But yes, I definitely don't want to, however all my stuff is overgrowing my space... I may have to thin things just a little.... but *ONLY* just a little. I definitely WILL return to building, that's a fact. I don't want to have to start ALL over again like I did in 2012 when I got back into it the 1st time. Thank you. I was 289lbs, and I knew I needed a change, but couldn't bring myself to start that change. And, somehow I've had literally no withdrawals to pop/soda and caffeine and sugar! The secret was to apparently drink alcohol and have a really bad hangover and feeling like death to the point of starting a diet! (part of that reacquainting with an old friend LOL) So now I'm down to 265-ish. I know the first 20lbs. is easy to lose, after that it gets tough! If I'm under 250 before the end of the year I'll be surprised. I will return at some point for sure. But I need to take a break, as much as I don't want to. I feel like it's a burden to have to make time to build and I don't want it to be a burden. I want to enjoy it. -
As much as I've wanted to build lately, I just haven't been able to. I accepted a management position at my company in the middle of March, and I've been working too many hours to even think about building. I've also been trying to be more healthy, and exercise as I've gained too much weight over the past 9 years at this desk job. So far I've lost 24 lbs since the end of May. I'm also trying to actually become enthused about working on my full size 1:1 cars again, and I've been reacquainting with old friends, etc. Plus, the Photobucket situation was sort of the nail in the coffin for me on forum posting. I don't have nearly the time to go thru, and re-edit all my posts, sign up for another hosting site, etc. So, for now, at least for a while til things calm down at my work, this is goodbye. I've learned a lot of great things and met a lot of great people. I will miss going to shows as well, and occasionally seeing my builds in magazines, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Thanks everyone, take care. Jesse

I've used my bench as a shelf right now. Got promoted to management now all I do is work. Not sure when I'll build next. -
Love the idea of the '65-'66 Fords. Some of the best looking trucks around. I agree, the 50's-60's Dodge trucks would be an awesome and untapped market too. Those trucks were so different looking they were neat. Just make sure the castings are cooled off before tossing em in the box though
