Yard sales, 1:1 car swap meets, craigslist, facebook, from friends, a second hand model parts shop (yes, one existed for a little while near me, it was freaking fantastic) and of course hobby shops and ebay.
I swear I just saw a thread for this recently but I just spent 30 mins looking for it so I apologize if this is some sort of repost Trying to build a 6cyl gremlin Thanks Jesse
I picked up a few myself. I really like it. It reminds me of the AMT '66 Fairlane/'67 Comet kit. Which is a good thing in my opinion as I really enjoy those kits. Can't wait to build one.
Definitely. Not too many people into this kind of music. Oh, there's another psychobilly band that is really good... they're called Rezurex. Dude has a really great voice. As far as Red Elvises go, they cross genres a lot. They play a lot of different styles of music. They even have a couple albums in Russian. I can't understand a thing they're saying but I enjoy it. It's a refreshing change because they do so much different stuff. Thanks for the tips on all of those, that will keep me busy for a while.
Right on! Thanks!! Some of the ones I listen to that aren't from the US are: Nekromantix and also Zombie Ghost Train.. that's more psychobilly but I dig it. Another band from Russia/Ukraine that started out as Rockabilly was a band called The Red Elvises. They went techno/disco for a bit then got back to rock n roll. I really like those guys. I can't play standup bass either, but I'm going to learn! I messed with it a little before I tore it apart. Thanks for the leads
I'm glad you posted this, because I've been wanting to ask you what Rockabilly bands you like. There was some I asked you about a long time ago but forgot what it was. Always looking for new music to listen to and I love Rockabilly/Psychobilly.
So much so, that I'm going to learn how to place this once I finish it!
It's a german upright bass made from aluminum. I'm going to fully polish it, and then have it pinstriped and put a pickup on it.
I picked one up the other day. Looks very AMT '66 Fairlane-ish... which to me is a great thing because I love that kit. Lots of positive locator pins too
I agree. Especially if you have a picture of your build in it. I don't have a subscription, but I typically end up buying the issues on newsstand 9 times out of 10.
Thanks! That little Porsche has gotten some pretty good attention for what it is. It's a curbside that I put together in 4 days... I bought it at a model car yardsale for 6 bucks from a friend of mine, didn't think it would ever get any attention.
Thanks, it's just Sophisticated Finishes rust solution, see my build thread and you'll see how I planned it out. I basically painted the truck like 4 different colors and before the last 2 colors I drybrushed the rust paint base on then put rubber cement on the spots I wanted rust, then applied the activating solution, let it dry for a day, then go back and do the same thing a few more times to perfect it. Also I used Tamiya weathering powders too. It helps when you study the real thing on the internet too. Gives you a good idea of where it should go.
Scroll to the bottom and check out that conversion... http://www.hartspartsresin.com/resin-parts-list/conversions Might be a good idea considering the AMT '70 was just re-released as the Vanishing Point car.
