Can Bare Metal be cleared??
JTalmage replied to DrKerry's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I clear over it all the time to seal it to the body and paint job. Otherwise if you handle your models a lot to transport them to/from shows... I've had it come off! -
Still have to be a little civilized! haha! Since it's not deemed to be a Cannonball competitor anymore, plans have changed, it's basically like a Resto-Mod offroader. I didn't want to go thru all the trouble of building bare interior and all that. Thanks everyone, Still waiting for my engine/trans from Clearly Scale... I might get some motivation back if I ever get that package.

Man that thing looks great! I need to finish my '73 Cougar fastback conversion!

I've been following your progress on the facebook groups. That thing looks awesome (I can't see the Fotki pics here for some reason, but I already saw the car!)

Thanks, I got impatient and pulled the tape so there's some touch up to do. I'm hoping the fender flares will cover it. I hope I don't have to repaint anything because I was running out of that custom orange! I'm hoping my engine will get here sometime this year from Clearly Scale. I know he had issues but I figured it would be here by now.

Clear over decals - whats the trick?
JTalmage replied to Jantrix's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I use Tamiya paint and clear... I've not ran into this issue yet. And I've used some pretty old decals before too. -
I dragged this one back out of the box after admitting defeat to myself over not getting it completed for Cannonball... which will make my 3rd non start. One reason I didn't enter this year. Ugh! Anyway, a little bit has happened since then. So here's some pics! The last picture you saw, I was building a back bumper for it. That's finished now but I didnt take pictures for whatever reason. I also removed the molded in exhaust from the frame. There's a little work that needs done to clean up the look of the chassis still after doing that. Still working on that. I also took some craft wire and made some coil springs for the front suspension! Not sure if I'll keep them silver or paint them w/ a clear blue or something. I'll figure that out later. It added a smidge of height to the front end so I think I need lift blocks for the back now. Here's a mock up of it after the coils I had a REALLY nice day saturday and was able to get some paint also flung on this thing! The color is '79 Ford Tangerine. Which is super close to '80 Bright Carmel. Shouldn't be able to tell a difference. Pulled the tape to reveal the base of Ford Wimbolden White. So obviously another mock up was in order! I still need to do BMF, decals, and other details before I clear it. Also will be flocking the interior carpet... I hope I have enough flocking for this big thing! Hope you all enjoy the latest update.

Thanks for the heads up Bill... I should have taken a closer look. Somehow I thought they were the same as the paddy wagon. I have a bunch of Tom Daniel and movie car kits I want to build too... there's just something cool about them, and I wasn't even around when they came out!

Amazing. Love it. I'm gonna have to get me another Beverly Hillbilly's Olds myself now

I use the instructions as a placemat and a loose guideline lol I just bought the "Graveyard Duo" kit that was just released by Round2. I've always loved these cars. However the engine in both needs to be a Ford engine w/ Cobra valve covers to be true to form.

I placed an order on November 29th. I got an email on December 24th saying that shipping details were added to my order, but there weren't. So nothing yet. I figure it's coming... Heard too many good things to jump to conclusions.
