  1. Indeed. The fact that these are all 1/18 scale is remarkable since they aren't really many kits around so there's a lot of mismashing of different cars. The few 1/18 kits I have seen are noting more than an unassembled version of whatever diecast they decided to let the consumer build instead of the manufacturer. Sometimes you even get to pay more for the priveledge of "building" one.
  2. At some point (a week or so) the demand will subside because all the idiots that stocked up for a month will not be running out every day to buy more. Of course before the madness stores probably scheduled their normal restocking deliveries but the media hyped up all the temporary shortages so people have just made things worse. One thing this has shown that many people will only care about themselves and could care less how it impacts the general population.
  3. Good thing we have some sensible people on the forum. I have mailed decals to forum members (if I have an extra one) and I use a Forever stamp and regulr envelope. It's nice to help someout out and maybe someone will return the favor.
  4. Pretty good price on these on Evilbay.
  5. People are told to avoid crowds yet the grocery stores are mobbed. A week ago the toilet paper aisle was stocked to the brim. A few days ago it was completely empty. I think this virus is affecting people's brains too. ?
  6. Sweet Mach1. Here's my 72 I bought in 1981.
  7. Not trying to spread rumors but I saw a post on Facebook that this years show has been cancelled. Official now it's cancelled.
  8. Some things that are heavy but not necessarily valuable are difficult to sell online due to shipping costs. A package deal to a fellow local modeler is probably your best best or like others have said a model show (IPMS or otherwise) would put you in touch with the best prospective customers. I would guess you may get 50 cents on the dollar and as along as 25 cents since the downside side is those same buyers may already have what you are selling. If you are not in any hurry you can wait for the best opportunity. Good luck and if you list those funny car bodies online let your fellow modelers here know. I am like a cat that hears the canopener when I hear the word Mustang - my ears perk up. ?
  9. I bought these years ago but they pop up on Ebay pretty often. I would not pay over $30 but I have seen people ask a lot more. If you followed by build on the white one it started as one in yellow with the appropriate mods.
  10. You are right about the paint - it looks great. I see you painted the door handles and I like the red carpet. I have the "stock" version in black and another in yellow and the third one I painted white to make the Japanese police car.
  11. Yes they do. It gives me an idea to use the Warren Tope 1/25 kit which would be a lot less costly than Jim's undertaking. I have a stack of bodies so cutting one up just to get a nice trunk is no big deal. Now that I think about it instead of filling in those vents on all my MPC hoods, I should just fix one and get copies made. I have spent hours getting just one hood filled in and smoothed out, not to mention cutting out holes for the scoop and fillling in the rectangular cutout on the underside of some of them. I had another thought - that Testors metal kits (the "stock" ones) could also be turned into a T/A racer with possibly borrowing the chassis and interior of the 69 diecast from Autovalue. Ok - back to our regular programming and apologies for rambling on in this post.
  12. It is a great kit and 100% accurate in every way. Oh, and the stock market went up 20% today. ? So as we may know it's a metal version of the MPC plastic kit but with opening doors and the changes required to modify the interior. Since it's a custom there is nothing to say what is right or wrong. The Boss 429 sorta makes sense in this case. It's too bad Testors did not correct the incorrect hood vents but who would notice or care (except me) and the cost to fix that in the tooling did not make the cut. So, have fun - it's an easy build and you're right about the paint - nothing to be ashamed about. I would change one thing - cut the spoiler mounts in half to lower the rear spoiler and of course mount it facing the correct direction. Lastly, paint the door handles chrome.
  13. NIce idea. Yellow is the color I least like to spray paint as it seems to take a lot to cover and get even coats.
  14. Wow - that's is a perfect display case. Well done. Many of us have the opposite problem - too many models and not enough cases. Since I build kits and also collect diecast - I have run out of space but it has not stoped me from buying or building. ?
  15. Welcome to the forum. I also collect 1/43 diecast and build some of the older 1/43 kits (Starter, PM, Marsh, etc). I saw an advertisement a few months ago for a 1/24 Gulf GT40 diecast made by Hachette but there does not seem to be any available fro sale anywhere. By any chance have you seen any for sale in France? Here is one a fellow board member and friend managed to get before they seemed to disappear.
  16. Nice scores on both and adding extra detailing. I picked up the chase version of the blue Boss so it has gold wheels and trim. Not exactly stock but M2 makes only a few hundred chase cars for each variation.
  17. The only issue I had was with MKII engine exhaust pipe brackets which are really thin and fragile. I ended up making a thicker bracket as it broke off and at that point it would have been too weak to support the pipes. While my fix my not be exact to scale - it was a oompromise that almost no one would notice (except whoever reads this). I am going to use that engine in a Fujumi MK II kit that I am kit bashing with an MPC Mark IV to complete the engine compartment along with some HRM parts. The small block engine is going in a Thunder Valley MKI body on a Fujumi chassis with HRM extras. Instead of a Gulf version I will do another livery.
  18. The Richmond show is a once a year event every February. There were a lot of flyers there on a table for IPMS shows this year in NC, VA. MD and PA. NOVA IPMS has their annual show April 18th in Fairfax. True turnout of car and truck models is usually pretty good and modelers come from the Tidewater area, Roakone, MD and PA etc.. See www.novaipms.org. I go to this show which is ten minutes from my house and almost always win at least one award. LIke Richmond most of the vendors sell military and sci-fi and figure stuff but this also means you can also find some deals on older kits. There is a Hobby Lobby and Michael's within a 15 minute drive and one hobby store in Chantilly about 20 minutes away.
  19. Yes - they are very cool. Still working on putting mine together and then figuring out which kit to put them in. I's thinking the Thunder Valley MKI, a modified Fujumi MKII and either a 289 Cobra or 65 Shelby R model.
  20. With all the hype on the real $3.7M one I am surprised it was not reissued. I have seen a lot of 1/64 and 1/43 diecasts lately. If no one comes through I can see if I have an extra set as I know I have parts from an extra Revell metal version. I do not remember if the wheels are any different as the plastic kit was actually based on the diecast version that came out first.
  21. Nice work. Is the engine box stock? I could never understand what AMT did not do a GT500 version of this kit. With only the Revell metal kit an an option - this seems to be ano brainer to me. I'm not even talking about a Foose Eleanor - just a stock 428 with two carbs.
  22. Keeping the thread going with more pictures.
  23. Too bad the Hachette diecast does not open up. I guess the engine will go in the Thunder Valley or Fujumi kit.
  24. I may change the engine block color on the MKII engine but here's the three painted but unassembled.
