  1. The only issue I had was with MKII engine exhaust pipe brackets which are really thin and fragile. I ended up making a thicker bracket as it broke off and at that point it would have been too weak to support the pipes. While my fix my not be exact to scale - it was a oompromise that almost no one would notice (except whoever reads this). I am going to use that engine in a Fujumi MK II kit that I am kit bashing with an MPC Mark IV to complete the engine compartment along with some HRM parts. The small block engine is going in a Thunder Valley MKI body on a Fujumi chassis with HRM extras. Instead of a Gulf version I will do another livery.
  2. The Richmond show is a once a year event every February. There were a lot of flyers there on a table for IPMS shows this year in NC, VA. MD and PA. NOVA IPMS has their annual show April 18th in Fairfax. True turnout of car and truck models is usually pretty good and modelers come from the Tidewater area, Roakone, MD and PA etc.. See www.novaipms.org. I go to this show which is ten minutes from my house and almost always win at least one award. LIke Richmond most of the vendors sell military and sci-fi and figure stuff but this also means you can also find some deals on older kits. There is a Hobby Lobby and Michael's within a 15 minute drive and one hobby store in Chantilly about 20 minutes away.
  3. Yes - they are very cool. Still working on putting mine together and then figuring out which kit to put them in. I's thinking the Thunder Valley MKI, a modified Fujumi MKII and either a 289 Cobra or 65 Shelby R model.
  4. With all the hype on the real $3.7M one I am surprised it was not reissued. I have seen a lot of 1/64 and 1/43 diecasts lately. If no one comes through I can see if I have an extra set as I know I have parts from an extra Revell metal version. I do not remember if the wheels are any different as the plastic kit was actually based on the diecast version that came out first.
  5. Nice work. Is the engine box stock? I could never understand what AMT did not do a GT500 version of this kit. With only the Revell metal kit an an option - this seems to be ano brainer to me. I'm not even talking about a Foose Eleanor - just a stock 428 with two carbs.
  6. Keeping the thread going with more pictures.
  7. Too bad the Hachette diecast does not open up. I guess the engine will go in the Thunder Valley or Fujumi kit.
  8. I may change the engine block color on the MKII engine but here's the three painted but unassembled.
  9. I really like the candy apple red HARR Ford 289 and 427 versions vs. the gloss black King Cobra and El CID ones. It would be cool to do a pair. Here's my decal collection for racing Cobras.
  10. From. What was left of the kit. ?. Other modelers benefited by the kit parts Larry redid and Norm made copies.
  11. Larry was President of the Maryland Modeler's Automobile Association (MAMA) back in the 90's.. He moved to Texas and he was at last years NNL East. He is a fantastic builder with great attention to detail. He did hte masters for some of R&M of MD products including the AMT 67 Mustang. I'm pretty sure he is a regular at the Salt Lake shows.
  12. I'll keep any eye out. Nothing in my inbox yet. Is it full?
  13. I can send you a set. I have plenty of extra ones. Black, gold or white?
  14. I got some from whoopiekatdecals.com. Check them out.
  15. Very nice. I was never impressed with the kit decals. Are you going to add them?
  16. Did you use some parts from the MPC Flipout kit or just modify the AMT 66 coupe? Nice work sir.
  17. Of course there would not be any Ford or Mercury race cars without there being the street versions of the Mustang. Since that isn't an "original" color according to the conventional info available, maybe it was a special order or a late VIN with the some of the 1970 changes. A VIN # and Marti report would confirm the body color but probably not provide any info on the scoop color.
  18. Sounds like a cool project. All 69 Boss 429's were one of five colors and the scoop was also painted body color.
  19. Great job on the cool cat. Are there clearance issues with the hor and air cleaner? I have had that problem with other kits.
  20. Nice mods. It's crazy this kit oats what it does when it is still an old motorized kit with no engine. The widened wheels look great. I build the Testors one years ago and from what I have seen the new kits are not much different.
  21. Interesting twist on the Drag Team. Since it does represent a historical racer you could always add some Twister decals. Very nice job. It reminds me of the M2 1/64 diecasts where they add a sponsor theme and paint job to the same molds to sell more diecasts.
  22. Rayskits.com does many different muscle car deals similar to Keith Marks, FYI he is in the Netherlands. Marks is in Canada.
  23. You may just want to replace both with a set from Fireball Motorworks.
