  1. I contacted a record store here in Charlotte regarding selling some old albums I have. They are mostly looking for older, hard to find albums from the 50's to the 70's, Jazz being a popular genre. I was quoted a price of $1- $4 per album, depending on condition and artist. It was also noted that the album jacket HAD to be in decent condition too. I would check with a record store and also see if there are any local DJ's who might play that type of music, you could find someone willing to make an offer on all of them.
  2. Nice start, should look great when you have it done!
  3. That is very nice, looks great with the weathering and details.
  4. Thanks Dave, appreciate the feedback. I have been offered $5 a kit by someone local, mulling it over as it would be a clean transaction and done at once versus taking them to a show at the end of August and hoping to sell them and make that much. Never was a member of the Road Knights. They had one show here after I moved and then never heard another word about them again. They held their meetings at Accurate Miniatures in Concord, about 45 minutes away. There is a SCMA chapter in Rock Hill that is closer, joined for a couple of years but was never home for their meetings.
  5. great review, makes me want one even more.
  6. That is looking beautiful Danny, really can tell you spent some time coming up with that design. That dumper looks great on the Meng, gives me an idea of what to do with one of the kits in the stash. Take your time getting it ready, being out of work means I can't spend any money right now and hopefully it will only be a short period of time before I can start spending again. I am guessing this is the first in a line of different types of beds you have in mind for light commercial trucks, hoping the next one is a modern wheel lift wrecker bed!
  7. All great points and I appreciate everyone's comments so far. I get the whole "They gotta make a profit" angle and I don't blame someone but I can hold off selling some kits if all someone is willing to pay is $3-5 a kit! The kits that are not complete is one thing, but a sealed kit that is on the shelf at any retailer or LHS for $25 is worth more than $3! There is a show next month near Winston Salem that I will look into getting a table at. Even if the sealed kits go for $10 each, that is $400 and it would be worth the wait compared to taking half or less. I do have them in a spreadsheet if anyone wants to look them over and make an offer. PM me and I will try to get the list to you, just need your email. Thanks again.
  8. I found myself unemployed Friday afternoon and have some model kits I was planning to sell later this year that I would like to sell now as cash is kinda tight. There is someone here in Charlotte who has been running an ad in the paper and I have sent him a list and see what his interest is. My question is this: Have any of you had a personal experience selling a collection to one of the noted collection buyers ? I am talking about Spotlight Hobbies, Deans Hobby Stop or Fred Sterns. Good or bad, I'd like to hear what your experience was like. I like the idea of selling locally as it eliminates the cost of shipping, which I would put at $125 or so as there are 67 kits in 5 large boxes. Thanks in advance.
  9. Exactly what I was thinking. I would locate the spray booth as far away from the lathes as possible for the reasons Ben states. If they have to be in the same room, try to create an area on opposite sides for them.
  10. Took a new job 95 days ago and in addition to being more of what I used to do, it was more pay and seemed to be a better company than where I was. Things were going well and I enjoyed the job and was starting to hit my groove and connect with customers (it was a field sales position). Spent this week with my boss making calls and trying to land new business, long days but they can be rewarding. Boss stays over until today instead of heading back home yesterday as planned, says we have to do my 90 day review and cover a few things to make sure I am up to speed on certain things. Says to meet him at the hotel this morning around 11 so I make sure all of my reports and expenses are done so I am in compliance with the rules. Imagine my surprise when I walk in to meet him and the HR lady is there! At first I figure it might be policy to have her there for the review but then they hand me a letter and tell me I am no longer needed. I can't understand why they hired me only to let me go citing a lack of business, which they were aware of before they hired me! Gotta love corporate America. Work hard and they stick it to you. Second time in less than 2 years, start to wonder what the heck is wrong with me or is it just bad luck?
  11. Coming along nicely, take your time on the foil and it will look like the real thing! I did notice what appears to be a faint mold line on the front fender. It could be my eyes but it is worth looking at the body after laying down the primer to make sure any mold lines are cleaned up.
  12. I like this....a lot! Nice job, should look great when finished!
  13. Nice job Chuck! I haven't even seen this kit around here and yet some of you are posting completed builds already!
  14. Sure Danny, I saved all my lunch money for my last order to you and now you go and get another piece I want! Looks nice, anxious to see it ready for sale!
  15. Nice job so far, those pictures just reinforce my need to get a couple of these!
  16. Scale Equipment LTD has some nice diorama stuff, as does Scenes Unlimited and VCG resins. Google search them and see if they ship to Canada.
  17. I haven't followed the show in a year or so, pretty much since he went to the oil sands, so I will ask a dumb question- are they still filming Jamie for the show? I ask because I remember when he got his first rotator and he mentioned that it cost a lot of money to buy and operate and competition was heating up in BC for tows. I can't imagine what it costs to keep all of those trucks ready and running at a moment's notice and then getting people to pay their bills. Thanks for sharing the pictures, really neat to see what new stuff he has and hopefully we will see it on TV. Last week I was in Chattanooga TN and drove past the Miller Industries wrecker factory, will have to see if they offer tours or at least the opportunity to take pictures of trucks in the yard.
  18. I love how this is coming together Charles and am watching your progress with much envy. I do hope this is somehow available to us someday as I would love to build a couple of different versions of this truck- dump and wrecker, similar to the one you have mocked up.
  19. You will probably have to scratch build one. I don't recall any resin or kit versions of something that old. That said, shouldn't be too hard to replicate if you have measurements or good photos to go off of.
  20. In case you weren't aware, the body proportions in that kit are off. A much better 69 Camaro kit would any of the recent ones by Revell. The one you have was done before the merger of Revell and Monogram.
  21. Love it! I have to agree that you don't see a lot of the early Camaros in silver, great job on the paint.
  22. Fireball Modelworks has the Eagle GT tires for this Chuck. It just wouldn't be a '80's Chevy without Eagle GTs!
  23. Very nice! Great color choices and makes me want to get started on the two that I have!
  24. That is very nice Tom, great color choice and love the Fireball tires and wheels!
  25. Working in the Chattanoogie area this week, found a HL this evening and picked up a couple of models. In the clearance section was a Revell Mustang GT (2014 MY) was tagged for $9.71 and figured at that price I would be able to use the two sets of wheels and the 5.0 for one of my Moebius F100 kits. I also got the Foose F100 with my 40% off coupon, although I noticed that it was marked $29.99 and I got one last week in Charlotte NC for $26.99 (minus my 40% off of course!). Not sure which store was incorrect but it only worked out to $1.80 difference so I was happy to get a second one.
