Jeep CJ Service Vehicle
mikemodeler replied to OldTrucker's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Same here! It was so common to see them at gas stations even a neighbor had one that he used to plow driveways with. I have a couple of the half cabs, sure wish someone would resin cast them for me! The snow plow is available from Olsen Bros. Back on topic- Nice work on that Jeep! -
Autocar DC9964
mikemodeler replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I have been thinking of picking up an Autocar kit to mount the wrecker bed from the old AMT Peterbilt stick boom kit, always liked the looks of the Autocar trucks. Nice job on this one Chuck, your weathering always looks realistic! -

Modelhaus Inventory Sale!!!!
mikemodeler replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Had you placed an online order with them recently (before they announced their retirement)? The email only went to folks who had placed online orders before the closed. -
Where is the show in SC?

Modelhaus End Of Business Sale
mikemodeler replied to Againmikewins's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
They have many different types of tires, mainly for older kits, that are realistic and accurate. This helps tremendously when restoring old kits. -
Modelhaus Inventory Sale!!!!
mikemodeler replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I got this email and thought I was dreaming! Hopefully the speculators will not scoop up all of the remaining inventory and us regular modelers will get a chance to buy one last time! Not sure what I need, but it will be interesting to see what they have left. The news about the tires is encouraging, hopefully Chris will have some of the wheels too. -
Tower Hobbies
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
True, but why keep sending invitations to shop if you have little to offer? I didn't even venture to their R/C side to see what that looked like. I enjoyed their service and hope they get back to their old self, running out of places to shop! -
Tower Hobbies
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just got another email from Tower Hobbies with their $15 off coupon code. Sadly, most everything they had model car related was on order or back order. Not sure how they plan to generate sales when they have little to offer. -
Nice job on the weathering , looks very realistic. I would suggest doing something about the chrome trim around the windows, looks a little odd to have the body side chrome and not the trim around the windows, just my opinion.

Nice and clean, well done. I don't see a mold line, but it does look like the reflection is giving it one. Like this a lot!

Might have to pick one up, I remember a neighbor having one growing up, went for some rides and it was FAST!

1/25 AMT Snap Fit 1980 Toyota 4x4 Pickup
mikemodeler replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I heard it includes some balsa wood to replicate the homemade flat bed as seen on most of these after a year or two -
I felt like Harry was the was the glue that held this forum and the magazine together and after his passing last year, things changed dramatically and not for the best. Gregg's back issues (no magazine pun intended) have long been documented as contributing to the erratic publishing schedule and I think now that Harry is gone, along with having to find another publisher, Gregg is simply overwhelmed with all that goes into getting the magazine printed. Add in the high cost and most of us would have quit a long time ago.

At least his shipping is reasonable at $1.99!!!!!!!!!

News of Revell molding preparing in US
mikemodeler replied to Jon Cole's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Likely a Yenko version. -
AFAIK, the magazine and forum have always been Gregg's and Golden Bell only did the publishing and distribution of the magazine. Whether the magazine goes on or not, the forum is run somewhat separately. If you weren't familiar with the history of MCM and Gregg, some searching here should yield some reading material for you.

What Did You Have for Dinner?
mikemodeler replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Drove past it and it was closed at the time (only open 10-7) so maybe in October when I am out that way again. Wish I could've made it, looked like a cool place ! -
What Did You Have for Dinner?

El Pollo Loco here in Burbank CA. Vacation time has meant trying food from places not found on the East Coast, although we did do Jersey Mike's for lunch as we were hungry and it was the first place we found. -
1966 CHEVY SUBURBAN
mikemodeler replied to yura1961's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
hard to believe it's a model, looks so realistic that it could pass as the real thing! Nice details, excellent execution and a beautiful model. -
It was in the online version I read everyday. It was near the sports section, IIRC. There were no models on sale but the 40% off coupon was in the ad.
