  1. I will be watching, have a soft spot for Camaro's 67-69's especially.
  2. Nice, I have to get one of these, I have built the older one and they do come out nice with some detailing.
  3. Nice work. Haven't decided if I am going to go the camo route with mine, thinking maybe hugger orange and a black interior or try my hand at weathering and create a rusty old 4 wheeler.
  4. Well, if you can afford it and like the subject matter, then I see no problem with it. As far as the builder, if he has 100 hours in the build, then $13 an hour isn't a livable wage but it is a nice way to earn some money and know that others are envious of your talent!
  5. $4 a kit shipping is not bad, especially if they are kits not easily found locally or out of production. Paying for shipping is a cost of being in this hobby if you don't have a hobby shop nearby.
  6. I had a set of those Police Car center caps on my S-10 pickup back in the mid-90s. They were hard to come by and I spent a lot of time taking them off and on as they were easy to steal if someone wanted to. They definitely caught your eye if you knew what you were looking at. The 68 and newer center caps are also sometimes referred to as "Derby Caps" as they sit a bit higher than the 67 disc brake caps.
  7. IIRC, Alan Raab at Ma's Resin had those tires, but I don't think he is still in business. I will have to check my stash tomorrow and see if I have a set.
  8. I saw that, gonna get my pre-order in, maybe include the 65 El Camino too!
  9. My words exactly. Stunning as always.
  10. Maybe you can find a Moebius 69 pickup for it? Not sure of the release of the Moebius 65/66 Ford pickups, but that could work too. Maybe the upcoming 65 El Camino with the camper on the back would look period correct pulling that? Anxious to see your rendition of the camper, maybe that will get me motivated to build mine!
  11. I tried checking the Pegasus Hobbies website and did not see anything about the F-100 4x4 kit.
  12. I have that trailer to build as well so I will be watching. Haven't decided on a tow vehicle yet, been thinking the 66 Suburban, maybe an AMT 72 Chevy pickup. If I can find another 66 Chevelle wagon, might go that route.
  13. Comparing this side shot to your model, it looks like yours is close but the rear window on yours tapers off slanting downward a bit more than this picture of the 1:1. Nice work on creating a car many of us would love to own!
  14. Nice job! I have a couple of those to finish up, hope to get to them this fall.
  15. I don't have a dog in this fight as I have never ordered from Scale Finishes but having read about the issues raised in this post I will say this- customer service makes or breaks a company no matter how big or small. I am sure Jameston means well, and the idea of hiring someone to help sounds good, but it could be more difficult than you might think. Depending on how he set up his operation, adding someone might mean a ton of paperwork and filings with government agencies that would further delay his ability to ship orders. Hopefully he can fix the issues plaguing his business and continue to offer quality product and service, we need as many companies as possible to keep our hobby thriving.
  16. Always liked the early Toyota Pickups and will be getting one of these when they come out. Question- Does this come with plastic tires or rubber tires?
  17. Similar thinking, I wasn't going for the 4x4 look as much as making it look cool and haul ash, like the Syclones did. The 4x4 could be a neat deal, there are some great tires out there from Fireball Modelworks and Scenes Unlimited.
  18. nice job, love the details and you nailed the look with the weathering.
  19. Went for a short drive yesterday with the wife and wanted to see what new shopping center is under construction (because you can never have enough retail outlets!) and lo and behold, there will be a new Hobby Lobby within 10 miles of my house later this year. Sure hope the wife doesn't get any crazy ideas about us shopping together there, then she will know how much I spend on model kits!
  20. It beats the alternative. Celebrate and enjoy your birthday.
  21. Nice pictures, wish I would have remembered they were coming through town, I would have made the trip up from Charlotte. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Yup. Example: I am not a fan of low riders, don't see the point in hydraulics and "hopping". But I do appreciate the work that goes into building what others might find "cool" but aren't my cup of tea as long as it shows talent and creativity.
  23. Here is another idea, for either one but maybe the convertible mostly. Smooth out the body and use the drivetrain from a Syclone kit (AWD, Turbo V-6), flare the fenders and stick some wide tires on it, maybe Pikes Peak style racer?
  24. I would do the convertible as a Pro Tour type- modern LS power, nice wheels and smooth body. The hardtop I would build up as a sleeper- faded paint, turbo'd motor, narrowed rear end, steel wheels, plain interior. I have a sealed SC/Rambler kit, still haven't figured out which direction to go.
