I saw that 66 GTO at a Hobby Lobby tonight and they had shelf space open for the 69 Boss 302 and the 48 Ford Greased Lightning. -

Hmmm, I remember the Escalade being the size of a Tahoe, this almost looks like it is Suburban sized. If I have learned one thing in over 45 years of model building is this- don't always believe the box art! (see the recent issue of the Moebius F100 4x4!) -
As PT Barnum was fond of saying..."There's a fool born every minute". I am with you on this, I can't see spending that kind of money on a model, no matter what!

Love it! Great job on the detailing. I have always thought it is harder to build a model like this than a stock box build with shiny paint. A lot more skill than I have!

They have a couple of wheels that are available in scale 19" and 23", about the closest they come to big n little wheel sets. Is there a particular wheel you are looking for?

Our late, beloved Harry would be so happy about this model- rear view mirrors AND an alternator bracket!

Would it bother you?
mikemodeler replied to mchook's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To this point, how many people have others do work on their 1:1 cars because they lack the skill, time or tools to do it themselves? Many! I have a friend who bought a car that was featured in Hot Rod magazine and is well known for it's uniqueness and there is no way he could pass it off as his own doing, despite being a very talented body man and mechanic. He is quick to tell you who built the car and that he bought it to ENJOY it and the work the builder put into it. As far as a model car goes, (or anything else that I own) once I have sold it I lose all emotional attachment once I deposit the money. Yes, it would bother me if someone tried to take credit for my work. -
I got my final Modelhaus order today. Lots of chrome goodies and bittersweet memories of a great company.

Modelhaus Inventory Sale!!!!
mikemodeler replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Despite the hurricane, the USPS just dropped off my box from The Modelhaus. Sad because it's likely the last one I will get. Also because of a glitch that Carol fessed up to, a couple of sets of wheels I ordered did not show up. Now I am off to the model bench to get busy! -
Haven't heard from Ace Garage Guy for awhile

Last time I checked this was Gregg's plastic playground that we were invited to play in as long as we follow his rules. Sounds simple enough, I think most of have had to learn what and what not to do. Being here is a privilege, not a first amendment right. -
Seeing this has me excited for when these kits hit the shelves.

It was a mother and infant that were killed when a tree fell on their house. My son is in the National Guard and is somewhere in eastern NC helping. We pray that he doesn't witness any loss of human life, it is bad enough to prepare for it in times of war, much harder when you have had the chance to evacuate. The heavy rain is moving into the Charlotte area this afternoon thru tomorrow. So far we are hanging in and other than some branches and leaves down, nothing worse than what we get with a bad storm. But like Brian said, this is a bad storm that lasts for days, not hours.

Revell is back in Northlake IL
mikemodeler replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great article, thanks for sharing it Casey. I did notice that there was no mention of R&D in the US, hopefully someone like an Ed Sexton can be used to bring new subjects to the market. -
What did you see on the road today?
mikemodeler replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well Duh, his was a shortbed '74! -
Let's hope that there is something in the works for the Ranchero. I know I was caught off guard over the Chevelle, so maybe there was a bunch of other stuff in the works when Hobbico closed the Revell offices. Hopefully we will see some exciting new kits in the coming months! And as Niteowl points out, the new owners have probably started turning a profit so they should have some extra cash to use for developing new kits!

Didn't get any pictures but I did see a bunch of vehicles headed from Tennessee to the Carolinas for hurricane rescue efforts. Ambulances, power company trucks, search and rescue teams all going to help. I stopped along I-40 in Tennessee at the Seiverville exit and there were tons of hot rods and cool cars and trucks headed to Pigeon Forge for this weekend's car show. If I didn't have to get home for the hurricane my plan was to stop there on Friday and check out some of the cars. -
Modelhaus Inventory Sale!!!!
mikemodeler replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I just reviewed my invoices and to further state what a class act The Modelhaus and Don and Carol are, they combined the shipping and knocked $26.00 off my order total. I had mentioned to them to pocket the shipping charges for their retirement vacation fund and they didn't, not sure how many companies would have done that! Be happy to get my shipment, got some stuff to build. -

got my notice that mine shipped today. bittersweet but excited to get the parts. -
If we can make it through with power, I plan to be working at the bench during the storm. I have to have something to distract me from watching the weather channel and might as well doing something productive.

FWIW- the diamond plate sheets from Don Mills are the most to scale and accurate ones I have found. They are a little thick, but some sanding of the backside does thin it out quite nicely.

Yup, what he said! This should help pave the way for more kits.
