Dodge Power Wagon
mikemodeler replied to Mopar - D's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice progress, love the engine update, should be able smoke all four tires with that Hemi! Maybe it's my eyes, but those rear fenders look awful large to me. I will have to look up some images but they just seem out of proportion. -
Got my invoice for the 4wd F250 conversion kits from Fireball Modelworks. Joseph estimates it will three weeks until I get them, which coincides with my Thanksgiving week of vacation, perfect timing!

I want to say an earlier shot showed a mud tread, but can't seem to find it. Drop him a note, maybe he will post them up as a separate item for sale at some point.

For those waiting for the F250 4x4 conversion from Fireball Modelworks, the wait is over. Joseph has posted pictures and pricing on his website for the conversions and they look nice! He is taking orders for them! www.fireballmodels.info

mikemodeler replied to brodie_83's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The Modelhaus did offer a shortbed conversion but they are no longer in operation. -
Saying Hi from Upstate South Carolina.
mikemodeler replied to Tiger89's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself
Welcome David! There is a modeler group called SCMA and they have several shows throughout the state every year. Their next one is in Spartanburg in January and I highly recommend it as there is a decent sized swap area and great bunch of models on the tables. Keep an eye out for the date. -
Looks great so far, nice details. The oil cap is upside down, it should read "710" instead of "oil" ! JK,that is a joke in the auto parts biz!

1972 Jeep Commando
mikemodeler replied to Goose1957's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks good from here! Nice job on the engine swap and the wheels & tires. -
I would love to see some old Dodge pickups come out, their styling might not be as sexy as the Fords and Chevies of the same era, but they were tough trucks. I have the Modelhaus Crew Cab '64 Dodge to build, still trying to decide if I want to make it into a 4wd or build it as the 2wd that Don cast it as. Jeep and International pickups would be nice to have, but most likely from a resin caster. The rest of the trucks shown have appeal, but I don't think they would sell in numbers high enough to justify a kit company tooling them up.

What Do I Do?
mikemodeler replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's always nice to get the unexpected compliments and sometimes when you do, you are left at a loss as to how to deal with them. In this case, there isn't a simple answer. My inclination would be to do as to what was done to you. I am sure you know someone here (or elsewhere) who would love the kit you received and if not, you will find a worthy recipient in due time. It might be via a trade or just a surprise with other items, but I am sure you can give someone a gift like you got. -

Beautiful, nice job and love the details like the opening doors. -
Another masterpiece Chuck! Love your "different" builds and how you manage to pull it all together.

I think that is just north of the border, but will check here in the states. Most of the episodes I have seen are shown on The Weather Channel. -

Funny how when viewed at a different angle, it appears to be much closer to the 1:1. -
Ollie's strike again

More likely they are waiting on replenishment stock from Revell, which sounds like it's coming soon. -
Is Resin Realm in business or not?
mikemodeler replied to GaryR's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
http://resinrealm.net/Star/STARModels.html Have you tried calling? It clearly states to call or write before ordering. I have not ordered from Steve but others have. His inventory fluctuates based on what is on hand from his resin suppliers. -
I have yet to inherit any money from relatives but have invested in retirement funds for a long time now. To Brian's point above, I would watch your investment in your pot stocks closely as the industry is in the early stages and subject to change with governmental intrusion and if you have watched tech stocks over the years, there were many companies that were hot one minute and worthless the next, mostly due to regulation or investors moving on to the next big thing. Had a friend brag about his "wealth growth" during the tech boom build up in 1998-99 only to see it evaporate by 2001. Needless to say, he ended up putting his money in to more time proven growth sectors that have shown to be better suited to his needs. Not as sexy or trendy, but having money later in life is usually the goal.

May God be with you and your family in this time of need. I cannot imagine the pain you are all going through and will go through in the coming months. It sounds like your son will win this fight and with your love and support, come out of it in due time. Prayers for you all to recover completely and quickly. This is the part of being a parent that is the hardest.

If any of you have an Ollies Army card, there is a 15% off one purchase coupon good through November 12(?). -
I can't believe it.
mikemodeler replied to ewetwo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not surprised, I have experienced that in the past and it stinks. I have also done trades with others here and have received incomplete kits and their response has ranged from nothing to them sending another kit. I understand if you have an open kit for trading, but at least check it out before offering it up. Did the Hobby Lobby lady say what they did with the open kits missing parts? Maybe you could cut a deal with her to buy them at a reduced price? -
Chrome Platers - Again...
mikemodeler replied to DEL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
George was a very active member here until he took over the chrome plating business. He is aligned with some of the guys in Detroit that do some casting and maybe they can pass the word along to him. Last post I saw regarding GT was that George has been slammed and extremely busy. I am guessing he is like most small businesses, does it all and tries his best to get it all done. I have said it before- operate like the Holthaus's did at The Modelhaus and you will have a successful business.
