  1. Seems to apply to many vehicles unfortunately.
  2. Good to know, I will check it out. Thanks for the update!
  3. Outstanding details and excellent execution! That paint and interior look spot on!
  4. I stand corrected, forgot about the early year 3.3 ltr V-6 and 5.7 ltr (350) V-8 engines. I found it interesting that they had a 7,500 mile oil change interval back then considering the oils available at that time.
  5. Some of you may have missed the fact that Ismael is in Puerto Rico, so his shipping charges will likely be more. I agree that to save fees, selling on Facebook seems to be a cheaper alternative but with likely less potential buyers. I have yet to buy off of Facebook but it seems to have a lot of activity so could be my new source for kits!
  6. Fall is lawn rejuvenation time here in the Carolinas and last weekend I did my heavy yard work in preparation for it. Now I have a couple of weekends where no yard work is needed as I am waiting for the grass seed to grow and fill in the bare spots so I spent several hours at the workbench. In addition to getting a few WIPs done, I also have moved a few more closer to the completed point and also took time to look over my 64 Dodge CrewCab kit from The Modelhaus. Lots of good stuff today, if it would only cool off and get the dew point down to a normal level so I could get some bodies painted!
  7. Have been looking at online sellers of kits (Modelroundup, Mega Hobby and Tower Hobbies) and none of them have the recent Moebius 1970 F100 4x4 kit in stock. Tower Hobbies doesn't even have it on their website and Modelroundup removed it from theirs. I know this was a much anticipated kit and I expected it to be a good seller but out of stock already? Wow!
  8. I have one in my stash, I think, will have to check. I had though about building it as part of a body shop diorama with the fender(s) off so I wouldn't have to fiddle with getting the fenders on straight. Sure wish AMT/Round2 would dig into their old tools and find something different to bring out.
  9. Nice progress, really liking this project. I like the subtle weathering and wheel choice. It has me thinking about getting one of these cabs and the soon to be released F250 4wd conversion kit from Fireball and making a custom 4x4.
  10. Looks great! I think the Fireball Modelworks kit will include all the parts to convert some of the other Moebius kits to a proper 4x4 in F250/350 livery. Could probably also use it on the AMT Firestone F150 to convert it as well.
  11. I have always built for myself and never intend to detail a model in hopes of winning a contest. That said, my builds look better than some but not as great as others but as long as they look good to ME, then I am satisfied. A friend of mine is an excellent bodyman, has been for nearly 40 years. He restored one of his first cars with the intent of winning awards and he did, pretty much every show he entered, locally and nationally. That experience burned him out so much that the rest of his cars are now drivers that look good, but a stone chip or light scratch doesn't matter to him. Build for yourself, enjoy the hobby and have fun
  12. This has been my experience as well. There is usually one or two people there that are looking to buy collections at a decent prices and that can ease the burden of selling a lot of kits.
  13. El Camino's were available with V-6 and V-8 engines. The V-6's were either 3.8L or 4.3L, depending on model year. The V-8's ranged from 267 to a 305 ci (4.3L or 5.0L). This would apply to the last body style they were manufactured in (78-86 model years).
  14. That is very nice, subtle colors but looks period correct. Definitely looks better with the raised suspension!
  15. That is looking very nice. The color choice and details are spot on!
  16. One solution not mentioned is to check and see if there are any model shows/swap meets coming up in your area. These can be a great way to move your stuff to someone else for a minimal cost. No shipping, a small booth fee and a half day of your time can bring the desired result. I do agree that holding on to certain kits and definitely the tools will be the best thing to do as you might find yourself wanting to build something in the coming years and the tools might be useful in other endeavors.
  17. Yes, I am plagued by that same problem. Good news is that I have some vacation time this week and will be sitting at the bench getting some WIPs done.
  18. You have a problem when you are hiding them all over the place- friends and family houses, storage units, trunk of the car, etc. Admitting your problem is the first step, but if you are actively building them and buying more with the intent of building them, then you have nothing to worry about. Those of us who go to places like Ollie's and Hobby Lobby and scoop up discounted kits, we might have a problem!
  19. Thanks for saving me the trip, I was gonna hit them up this week. Just as well, really didn't see anything I need or want.
  20. Nice work, that looks spot on accurate. Yes, those Blazers would rust, but I can't imagine the Scout fared much better!
  21. The nice thing about starting over is that you can decide to set it up differently than the way you had it before. I don't envy the task ahead of you, I have been through it twice and it doesn't get easier! Lots of natural light will help brighten up the work area, nice room to have!
  22. 8 pages and counting and the kit isn't out yet. God help Revell once it hits the shelves and there is something wrong with it.
  23. I sold one of the LUV kits last year at a swap meet, I think I got $50 for it, might have been more. I had thought about building it but realized I have enough kits and sold it to someone who had been looking for one.
  24. If you have the time, a visit to the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA is a good place to spend a few hours. Take the vault tour as there are some great cars in there to see as well. The hobby shops listed are worth the time, just be careful to not buy too much, the shipping will kill your budget!
