  1. Decided to channel more energy into modelbuilding, so won't be around as much, should be good therapy.
  2. Not that I am aware of. There have been resin kits made, I think Steve at Star Models has one.
  3. Gerry, Best of luck in your move, hope all goes well. 13 years ago I moved from Chicago to Charlotte and had a moving company haul my stuff down in their large 53 foot van. Everything arrived safe and sound, the only stuff damaged was household items (TV tables, card table and chairs). I packed all of my boxed models into large cardboard boxes that were near perfect size for my collection (about 300 kits at the time) and I had an inventory list of what was in each box (as well as all other stuff deemed valuable by me & the wife). The boxes held the kits snug with very little packing paper and I think that helped them survive the move.I had contemplated buying plastic totes but the kits did not fit well in them and I decided to use them for paints instead. It will come down to how they pack and drive your load to Washington. Hopefully no issues this time of year and all arrives intact!
  4. As the uncle of a young man who is retarded, I find it quite offensive when people refer to something other than the handicap as "retarded". My nephew has worked harder than most normally functioning people to achieve some sort of normalcy in his life and to have others use the term "retarded" or "retardation" to describe a situation that they are unhappy with shows me their lack of compassion for humans afflicted with this disability, their inability to use terminology that better describes their problem without being offensive ( and this would include using foul language) and a general sign of ignorance. Until you have experienced watching someone who was given a small chance to live and function become the man my nephew is in his mid-20s who can do some amazing things considering his shortcomings, using terms like "retarded" and "retardation" to those of us who have lived with it is insulting.
  5. Would this be what remains of Tower Hobbies and the website Plastic-Models.com? If so, I wonder if that means we will see this stuff at an Ollie's soon?
  6. Saw these at the HL in Matthews NC this afternoon. There was also a large scale motorcycle kit and one of the late model Revell Snapper Mustang kits. I grabbed up two of the Thunderbolt kits and one of the Yenko Corvette kits because at $7.49, the wheels alone were worth it. Might trade them off, not sure yet. On a related note, saw someone on a Facebook group posting the above kits for sale at $25 each, shipping included. Usually not a bad deal, but given that these kits were on sale for $7.49, someone is making a couple of bucks on each one.
  7. Hobby Lobby is pretty much old school when it comes to cash registers and inventory systems. The cashiers punch in the department code and price manually, no scanning of bar codes, so it is possible to have stuff marked down in one store and not at the one across town. They punch in the coupon code to manually adjust the price if you present it to them. Not sure how they determine what to re-order if they aren't scanning the items at the register unless they walk each aisle and scan the barcodes on the shelf.
  8. True, but history has shown us that Hobby Lobby will do stuff regionally so as to not overwhelm their warehouse system. With that in mind, Mike999 is in South Carolina and someone in Texas might not see the same markdowns he is for another month or so. I will check my HL as I am only 150 miles away from him and it could be happening at my local store.
  9. Yeah, vehicles like that make me chuckle! In addition to being completely useless on or off road, they are a safety hazard to operate. The lights are not legal, the brakes are inadequate and visibility is so poor it's a wonder anyone would even think about driving it.
  10. This is being shown on the Modelroundup Coming Soon page as an Early September release!
  11. Is he the one that took the excellent 77 El Camino from MCRC and added some trim to the side and called it his own original? Might have been someone else, not sure. I have seen the stuff on the Bay, haven't bit yet because when it comes to someone new, I like to hold it in my hands first.
  12. I was thinking the 80 MPC Monte Carlo would be another one to consider, maybe even the El Camino kits as I believe they were flat.
  13. I remember a lot of KB Toys locations were in those "outlet" malls popular along the interstate. Bought some kits there pretty cheap as I remember, wish them well!
  14. You can pick one and build it and use it as a means to work on your skills so the next one is little better than the one before. Figure out which one you want to start with and go from there. You got a great deal on those kits, well worth what you paid for them. Enjoy!
  15. Private Message. Look in the top right corner of this page, there should be an icon that looks like an envelope with a red circle in it, indicating you have been sent a private message from a member here. As a reminder- no public selling of any kind is allowed here, although if you PM someone and work out the details in emails or private messages, then you will not run afoul of the moderators.
  16. I remember buying them for $5.00 at Big Lots, they go for silly money now, so yeah, R2 will no doubt be bringing them back soon!
  17. Gary,. The orders I have placed with him in the past, including this past April, were filled and shipped inside of two weeks. Sometimes he has a ton of orders hit, but seems to have inventory on hand in most cases to meet demand. Joseph will acknowledge your order and let you know of any possible delays. He is among the best there is when it comes to quality, communication , customer service, shipping and selection of product.
  18. Nice weathering and should be a neat one when done. Did not realize the crossover exhaust pipe ran like that, must have made things interesting working on them.
  19. If you haven't checked out the Fireball Modelworks website this month, you need to! Joseph has been busy engineering a bunch of new stuff for the Revell Bronco as well as a ton of new tires and wheels for many different models. I will be saving up my lunch money and placing an order soon, lots of cool stuff!
  20. Nice job Chuck! Glad to see you don't discriminate when it comes to rust and weathering vehicles.
  21. I figured after a few shiny builds you would be back to the rust and weathered look Chuck! Nice job, surprised you didn't yellow the headlights a bit more and beat the bed up some more.
  22. A quick look at the Tower Hobbies website might be an indication as they show many kits "order pending". Not sure who got the inventory in the bankruptcy and when new warehouse distribution will be set up, but gotta figure that is being worked out as we speculate.
  23. Thanks Ben, wasn't aware of the super saver club! In looking at the website, I did notice that there was a lot of "order pending" and "out of stock" notes on many items- kits & paint mostly.
  24. I got an email earlier today from Tower Hobbies informing me of their Fathers Day Sale and that if I place an order of $50 or more, I can use order code 01A15 to take $15 off that order! Not sure if the free shipping code 01A13 still works, but I might have to look through the website tonight to see if there is anything I need. Happy Shopping!
