I still use some Testors spray but never use the white as it has a slight blue tint to it. Have tried a few cans and they're all the same. I don't get it. Tamiya is the best. More expensive but the paint and the nozzle they use is top quality. My paint jobs make me look like a better painter than I am.

The usual Monogram Sprint Car with body panels from Big Donkey Resin. Modified the chassis to accept the new bodywork but can't really be seen. Added a Shapeways 3d seat with padding and some other minor upgrades and a personal touch with my name on the wing as all World of Outlaws cars do these days.

Thanks for your comment. I don't remember the windows problem but I probably just forgot. Yes, the grill took a lot of work to fit right and I think I used epoxy to keep it held in. Seems I remember the interior pieces needed some trimming to fit right. I built a Junior Johnson version and going to do a Jim Paschal one just because I like the dog racing decals so much.

Would the "Under Glass" section be the proper place to post model pictures of sprint cars, midgets, USA and European racing series sports cars and open wheel cars? Thanks for your input.

This is my first attempt to attach pictures so hopefully it works. Built out of the box except I changed the drivers head because pictures I found were not a full face helmet that was supplied in the kit. Special thanks to "dragcarz" who sent me a windshield. Realized there wasn't one in the box and he saved me with his generosity.

Very nice. What color did you use for the roll cage/interior/chassis? Looking at reference photos confuses me as I see white or a very light grey.

Doing the decals on the Tom McEwen "Fly Navy" dragster I realized there's no windshield in the box. I know I didn't lose it. It was just never included. With Revell being AWOL I wondered if anyone might have an idea for a replacement? Thanks.

Update on the Chaparral 2D I ordered from Amazon. Bad deal. The due date I was supposed to get it has come and gone and there's a list that goes on and on from people that have ordered various items from this Great Meister and never received anything. Guess I should've looked into the history before I placed my order. Too bad. Was looking forward to the kit. Amazon needs to look into this person/outfit and sever it's relationship AND help to get everyone their money refunded.

Thank you! Yes, a decent price for the kit and don't mind paying that much for a Fujimi kit. Always a quality product.

I got the Tower Hobbies email last night at 10:30. Saw it this morning so too late to do anything if I wanted to but I don't plan on it anyway. Tower Hobbies has been my main source of models and supplies for years. I've noticed the main page hasn't been updated for months and they've been out of stock on Tamiya paints for months also. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.

I've built many dioramas and enjoy looking at other people's work as I can appreciate what they've gone through to create their own. I like so many things you've done; the window, posters purposely NOT put up exactly straight, the display within a display and a bit of humor thrown in with the skeleton. Nicely built dragsters too.

Really enjoyed the article in the latest Model Cars magazine of Henry Trent's Chaparral models. One of my favorite cars from the past. The 2D is said to have been currently re-released from Fujimi but I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Our Michael's has always been a joke. Might be a 3 x 3 foot area of kits and that includes some planes. My daughter in law worked for Hobby Lobby for a few months and they treated her and other employees like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH so she quit. They're putting one in not too far from me but I see no reason to patronize a store like that after what I've learned. I remember KB Toys and Toy Liquidator. Used to get so many kits at great prices there.

I watch every type of racing. Motocross to drag racing and everything in between but I watch less and less NASCAR every year. Just don't have any respect for them. I have respect for many of the drivers but don't get much enjoyment watching the "show" as it has become.

Yep. Long time between issues but it's always worth it. I read every page even if the subject isn't really something I'm interested in because the content is always top notch and I realize how much effort went into the magazine.

Yes, very nice. And thank you for telling us what paint you used. I've started mine but have been trying to find a paint color that resembles the couple of pictures I have of this car and couldn't find a match but like what you've chosen so I'll go with that.

Thanks for this interesting site. I wonder how the "white nylon plastic" works with primer. The nylon part seems odd to me but I suppose they wouldn't use it if it didn't work well for painting.

Yep, one of my favorites. Enjoyed his acting in movies too. He played some serious roles back when and was quite a good actor as well as making me laugh for many years. Glad he made it to 90.
