  1. Very nice build and I wouldn't have known that engine cover was scratch built. And yes, Grand Prix is my favorite movie. Try to watch it once a year.
  2. My space heater I've had for years sparked and smelled and quit putting out heat so had to buy a new one. Looked at Amazon where the reviews from people can be real handy. Found one for $24 that fits nicely on my workbench in the garage. Has a "fan only" setting that I can use in the summer. Also pleased that it has no beeping when used. Seems many things I've bought lately have to beep when you plug it in, when you turn it on and off, etc. I have no clue why manufacturers think they need to add this.
  3. Got a new Hobby Lobby a mile from me that's been open for about 6 weeks now. Went there when they opened and went last week. Same models and not a big selection. I can think of many models that they could add to the mix and wonder if it will happen or not. With Christmas coming up you'd think they ought to bring in a bunch more.
  4. I've never understood people not voting. It's free, you get to add your opinion to the total count, and I think you should have the attitude that you're supposed to vote. We mail in our ballots or just drop them off at the nearest drop box. So easy.
  5. Doesn't matter how old you are or how long it took, you've built a great model!
  6. I don't follow baseball but usually find myself watching some World Series games every year. Even I know about the Nationals. Used to be the Montreal Expos, right?
  7. Great looking model! I've got this kit in my stash but the paint scheme scares me.
  8. I'm so glad to see someone else noticed this! I keep wondering where it will go next. What is more awesome than awesome?
  9. You're in the middle of NASCAR country and I'm far away from it so rely on television coverage and that's why this sort of thing irks me so much. And yes, I agree with your comments. Used to watch every race years ago but pick and choose races now. Being retired I've got plenty of time to watch but everything in the sport has changed and not for the better in my opinion. Won't go into all the details but even the broadcasts are hard for me to watch as the constant manufactured drama and announcers yelling all the time as if every pass is for the win grinds on me. Luckily I like most any type of racing so do enjoy watching other television coverage where announcers prove they can tell me what's going on without insulting my intelligence.
  10. Watched the NASCAR truck race at Martinsville today on Fox Sports 1 and the video went out for the last restart with 2 laps to go. Apparently everyone missed it but there was audio which sounded like a transistor radio. Sounded like it was exciting. Then to make matters worse, they were running late so immediately went to a football game. Pretty disrespectful to NASCAR and it's fans.
  11. I've got a couple of versions of these kits but haven't built them for some reason. Always liked the car and was hoping they'd come out with a race version.
  12. Agree with the others. Not seeing anything wrong with the paint but we're our own worst critics. Tamiya kits are always the best to put together.
  13. Looks great! A unique car AND model.....at least I think so.
  14. Excellent work on this car!
  15. Still trying to decide if I like it or not. The problem could be that I like the last one so much that I'm not ready for the change.

What they all said. Like those wheels and tires too.
  17. I'm liking all the models you just posted but going to comment on this one as it really makes me smile. I like F40's and you made this one real sharp.
  18. The Modified Stockers have been fun to build in the past but don't see them being a big seller. I recall the Chevelle being an odd mix of body and chassis. Seemed they weren't made for each other. They really really need to come up with a new decal sheet. That might help sales?
  19. I try to do this every year also but seems I'm behind this year. Think I have enough projects that are 3/4 done so that should keep me busy this winter. A few of them require lots of decals so I can do that inside.
  20. Still buy CD's and my newest car came with a CD player so was happy about that. Have a ton of cassettes that I made mixes of but recently my cassette player ground to a halt so can't listen at home. Looked online to see about a new one but conflicting reviews have me confused. Have albums from my youth that I still play. That sound from a turntable is nostalgic.
  21. Hmmmmm I've painted several Shapeways products including the regular rough figures and shiny ones. Always prime them and then use Tamiya or Testors paints. Never had a problem. Of course I've screwed myself now by saying this.
  22. Looks great! I built the Art Pollard version and have Fred Cady decals to do the others but as you pointed out it's a tough build. Yours looks so good with the added details.
  23. LOL What a crazy idea! I like your imagination and finished model.
  24. I like cars and racing cars so I want to build replicas of them. I also like being creative. Every box you open is a mess of parts and you get to see it slowly come together as a completed project which makes me feel good. Building models is relaxing (most of the time) and never gets old for me. I used to enter contests years ago which I felt drove me to doing the best I could when building. Won quite a bit and lost quite a bit but didn't mind losing when I could see what model beat me and maybe learn from that. I haven't done a contest in years and just enjoy building for myself. I joke with my wife that model building keeps the mind sharp by following instructions and problem solving. The finished models are in many display cases that I've built and no one sees them but me. Once in awhile someone sees them but you can tell they kind of scan them quickly and not focus on much which doesn't matter to me. Once in awhile I take the time to look at my finished models and appreciate all the time involved and think I did pretty good. Not an ego thing; just like that I can still build a decent model after all these years.
  25. I emailed Revell of Germany to tell them I really like the updated version of their Sprint Car and they need to come out with more and I'll buy every one of them. Was surprised to get a reply which sounded promising that they will release more but couldn't tell me what they would be. So it appears they're listening. Don't hesitate to contact them if you've got something to say.
