Do you prime all pieces
TonyK replied to youpey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I only prime when I have to. If putty was involved or much altering of parts. Body pieces all get a good wash but rarely prime. -
Always thought this was an interesting race series and I think there were a few kits of these many years ago. Were the kits any good? Never see them available anywhere so guessing they weren't big sellers or not done well. Asking you truck experts as I don't do trucks but would build a racing version if I were to find one and it was actually a race truck and not just a regular truck with decals.

Great job! Typical Tamiya kits. You're impressed with all the detail and great fit of the parts but it takes a lot of building skills and patience to do it justice.

Age 75 after a short illness. I always thought he was a good actor in what few movies I saw him in. Blade Runner was the best thing he did but my wife thinks Ladyhawke was his best.
-
Yep, you did a great job. Especially like the weathering.

A lot of work but you did it. A very nice replica!

Good suggestion and I have thought of doing that. A pain but that black tubing works pretty good so might try it and see.

Exactly what the above said! Just never answer these calls. I get calls all the time with no message left. The ones that leave a message are so stupid to believe they make my wife and I laugh. The most annoying ones we've gotten for years is directed to our son from collection agencies sometimes very demanding. He's been married for years, has a house, bought cars, and a full time job all his life but they keep claiming he owes money and they just don't give up. Odd thing is they never contact him and don't you think if he really did owe something that one of these big transactions would know this? Just all BS scams.

Sorry to read about your problems and frustration. Have you tried Tamiya paints? More expensive but I've never been a great painter and these paints make me seem like a better painter because it all works out so well. Bottle paints and especially the spray.

Yes, you're right about what they supplied. I thought about some braided line and you provide a good source so I thank you for that. I may end up going this route but I was trying to take advantage of all the little nubs Revell provided and attach the tubing to them. If I do the braided "hose" I'd have to drill holes where all those nubs are instead. Done that sort of thing hundreds of times but hoped to make this easy on myself.

Building the Revell Datsun 510 race car and it comes with grey flexible tubing for the engine compartment but it's not flexible at all. Could be it's old. Anyway, been searching online and in my stash and even a hardware store to find something but come up empty. I have some good black tubing and even red that I can pull the wiring out of and use the covering but nothing grey or silver. Anyone have a suggestion? It has to be thin and small and flexible like a rubber based tube or if it is plastic-like it has to be very flexible. Thanks for any help.

One of my favorite BMW's. I'll buy one if they make a good racing version.

Always liked this car and you did a great job on it. Very sharp!

Those are the kit wheels and tires.

Another enjoyable build from Moebius. The 1961 Pontiac that ran at Daytona. I really liked the sponsor on this car so built it for that reason. Out of the box with Powerslide decals and just some different headlight covers made.

Old AMT kit with the roll cage molded in clear plastic. Removed all the side chrome strips and wipers which took much longer than I wanted. Enlarged the wheel wells for the PPP wheels and tires and used some decals I had lying around. After all the work involved the finished model didn't turn out the way I had hoped.

Some talk on car movies.
TonyK replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great job on the scene from Mad Mad World. So many good car driving scenes in that movie done before any computer fake stuff. -
I didn't find a way to contact Fox and as you pointed out they probably don't care anyway. I did contact NHRA letting them know that their fans and their sport were cheated because Fox couldn't spend an extra minute to interview a guy who just broke another competitors 5 race win streak.

Fox Sports 1. Top Fuel driver Mike Salinas wins the final and they leave the program without an interview so we can watch the Xfinity pre-race show which is basically a waste of time because all they do is gab about who they think will win this race. Terrible horrible punch to the gut decision.

Lol Been a Blackhawks fan since the 60's/70's but have also hated the Bruins since then too. More so in the last several years. There were many teams I was rooting for in these playoffs but it came out good in the end.

St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup!

Saw one story that said "age unknown" but also saw he was born in 1949 so...... Always liked his style and his music. Something different.

Saw that first thing this morning and said out loud "Bummer". One of my all time favorite drivers. It's a sad day. Gonna have to sit down and watch Rush. Well done movie.

On the subject of dogs.......I always believed that if I have dogs and you don't, there is no reason you should have to be bothered by them. I have 2 West Highland Terriers and they are very energetic but I've taught them to behave. They don't bark unless there's a reason to and that's rare. The big problem I have is that so many people have dogs and it seems they have no reason owning them. They don't seem to have time for them, no walks, no play time, just leave them outside to be bored and lonely. Sad.
