  1. This is great! And it's Tamiya so all should fit well and be an enjoyable build.
  2. I agree with you on the Black Chrome Trim. I use it all the time and a rattle can of it would come in handy. I have Tamiya semi gloss bottle paint and I think that is darn near gloss so use the Black Chrome Trim instead when I want semi gloss.
  3. I like so many of these reissued kits. Some I never had as a kid and some that I did have and enjoy building them again. It's an interesting experience as I put together the same kit I did as a kid and think how I did this maybe 40-50 years ago. Just does something for me.
  4. I've never liked custom cars that much but decided to look at your model and am glad I did. You did a great job on this! Is it straight out of the box? I especially like your interior. Very nice work.
  5. Nothing wrong with vitamin C but I understand the body can only absorb so much and taking extra just gets p****d out and you're wasting money. My doctor is big on taking vitamin D especially in the winter months. My wife and I get a flu shot every year and have done it so long that it's just a habit.
  6. What a shock! Had no idea about his health. Can still remember buying Fly by Night album and 8-track to listen in my car back in high school.
  7. AMT '34 pickup with a flat black undercoat then gray that was lightly sanded to give it an old worn look. A fun model to build with nothing special done to it. Added an ICM figure and dog to the interior for a little something.
  8. Thanks for the alert. I occasionally deal with companies in other countries and appreciate good business practices. I don't understand why anyone would be this way as it certainly will hurt them eventually.
  9. A coat of white primer came to mind. Also thought about a clear coat but it might make it too shiny? It's just going to be a '55 Chevy short oval racer and I don't want it looking real nice. Probably will just spray some gloss white and call it good.
  10. Sprayed Testors white on a short track racer yesterday and took a look at it today and realized it was FLAT white. My fault for not paying attention to that little sticker they put on the cap these days. It was already opened and I just grabbed it. btw, there is no ball inside the can.
  11. I have enjoyed building these kits in the past as they're fairly simple but not always that well engineered. I recall the Chevelle body just kind of sat on the chassis with no mounting points and the rear suspension was questionable. I see the same old decal sheet but the tampo printed tires are always a plus. The Impala is supposed to have an updated decal sheet. Wonder how much is updated.
  12. I'm waiting for Revell to release more versions of the new sprint car. Pay some license fees and they can take advantage of the new tooling. Tempted to buy more of the Joey Saldana version for future builds but waiting to see if I'll get kits with decals that I don't have to buy extra.
  13. Thimble City! That's the name of it. My sister and I both had our own and always remembered it but not the name. It was a lot of fun. Thanks for posting this.
  14. Funny to see how many people used the word "cool" because that's the first thing I thought when looking at the pictures. Very nicely done and I like how well you did with all the scratchbuilt stuff.
  15. I know a few others have built this model so here's my version. This is one of my planned winter builds as it's too cold to paint bodies so left this as is plus it keeps the toy-like appearance that way. Enjoyed doing the detail painting though and just an overall easy fun project.
  16. Good point about the advertising. When looking at a magazine I notice the ads on the pages as I have to turn the page and many times there will be a nice car pictured or something that gets my attention. I've trained myself to completely ignore any pop-ups or ads on the Internet.
  17. I get Automobile and really like it. Also been against online/digital reading. I do the things I want to do online and then get on with my day. There are just too many advantages for me with a magazine. Just the other day I brought one with me to read while waiting for car service as that's the most comfortable way to read for me. Sometimes I rip out pages from a magazine to stuff in a model box for reference when I go to build it.
  18. Very sharp!
  19. Another USPS fail. Tracking said package would be delivered Dec. 6 Friday by 8 pm. Nope. Checked online after 8 and now says it's arriving late. Obviously but when? Saturday it says in transit. Again, rather vague. Sunday morning it says the package left Portland for destination. I'm thinking it's coming. Later I see a mail truck delivering packages to 3 of my neighbors but not me. Check tracking again and it now says it left Portland at 4 am and arrived at Oregon City (where I live} at 5 am and heading for destination. I'm thinking there's enough for the local mail truck to deliver and that's what they're doing. No. Still nothing. Checked this morning and it said heading for destination (there's that word again) and will be delivered by 8 pm Dec. 9 Monday. Is it though? The post office is a 1/2 mile from my house What say I just come get it and save everyone some more trouble. Update - The story gets better. Just got my package this afternoon and there's a Priority Mail 2-Day sticker on it. First checked tracking last Wednesday and that's when it said I'd get it Friday. Guess I should be happy I finally got it. There was a local news story of a mom who sent her son a package of home baked cookies for his birthday through USPS. Don't remember the exact date but sometime at the beginning of November. It went back and forth between Medford and Portland 30 times! Those cities are at the south and north of Oregon. He still hasn't got them but of course they're not edible by now. She said next year she'll just drive and deliver them herself.
  20. So nice!! I've got one of these to build and I think you've given me the urge to dig it out. Great work!
  21. Got mine yesterday in Oregon City, OR.
  22. Saw it and thought it was great. Matt Damon convinced me he was Mr. Shelby as I had my doubts going in but he did a great job. Really enjoyed a lot of racing scenes and just fast car scenes in general. Also enjoy the challenge met to recreate the 60's era. All the background with the cars, people and their clothes, buildings, signs, etc. Had fun recognizing the California Speedway which was supposed to be Daytona but am smart enough to realize you can't do anything about the fencing and walls that are in place today for safety and all the billboards. Doesn't take anything away from the movie and you accept it is Daytona. My wife was with me and completely enjoyed it too.
  23. Going Saturday. Haven't read a bad thing about it yet.
  24. I built a Tamiya kit with a clear body just because I wanted to do something different. Quite a challenge. I still painted certain body pieces and you need to use epoxy or other clear glue so as not to mar the clear plastic. I believe I built the Richard Petty big scale model as a kid and thought that was pretty cool. As pointed out, I was a kid so wasn't concerned with realism.
  25. Funny. I've seen this type of thing with models before. A guy has talent beyond anything I have had yet lacks in things such as paint, little things like the thick wire or they didn't sand the tread area on the tire. I still enjoy the whole project that the builder came up with and managed to complete it.
