  1. I might join you with a '57 Chevy I started in 2010. Or was it 2014? Whatever, it was years ago and thus qualifies.
  2. Put me down for this, too, but in either Marlboro Maroon or Marina Blue. (And maybe a roadster with the optional hard top.)
  3. That one might have been sized for the Monogram 1/24, too.
  4. Fabulous! Way to GITTER DONE! I'll add you to the next update! Picking out a new project for Round 4?
  5. Before. And then after if necessary (followed by more primer). Repeat as necessary. It ain't rocket surgery.
  6. Was in a neighboring town this morning so checked out their HL. A few more sale kits than mine, but nothing good--only thing marginally interesting was the '66 Mercury, which was worth the sale price just for the good wheels and tires, so I grabbed one, plus a 1/48 Revellogram F-102 for $7.49--I think I paid more than that for that kit when it came out in the '80s!
  7. Oh goodie. This means that when I get this kit, I'll have THREE different sets of AAR stripes that don't fit anything. Maybe one of the aftermarket decal makers will step up on this one.
  8. There will probably be a Round 4 that will start July 1 and end September 30. Stay tuned.
  9. Mine had three or four, so I guess someone cleaned them out of all the good stuff. The only one of even marginal interest to me was the '65 Lincoln, so I got one just so it wouldn't be a wasted trip. Also got a Hobby Boss 1/72 F6F Hellcat for $2.49. Not often these days you can still buy two brand-new model kits for $10.
  10. Y'all are making me want to stack up this body, the Revell Gen 2 body, the JoHan '71 body, and the AMT '74 snapper body (I believe, the remains of the MPC '70) and see which one has the best front fender line. While I'm about it, I might take some pics of the rear windows, too, as I seem to recall there are some differences in that area as well.
  11. Two more of my very oldest, both dating to circa early 1967. Original issue Monkeemobile. Cleaned it up, fixed what was broken, and generally "rescued" it two years ago, but basically the same way I built it then. Original issue Mako Shark, again, cleaned up, fixed up, and touched up last year, but still wearing its original 1967 AMT Candy Oriental Blue paint job.
  12. Looks a lot better. White over the black was what worked best for my '53 Vette, too, though I'll NEVER use black on a white model again.
  13. Very cool! Get us inside that box as soon as possible!
  14. Very cool, looks great! I have three cans of that Krylon Shimmer--red, blue, and green--but haven't used any of it yet. Planning to lay it on some dune buggies. Thanks for the "preview of coming attractions." Model on!
  15. Maybe so. All the MM Chevy Engine Red I've used has been a brilliant red-orange, just as it should be. The blood-red color you're describing sounds almost like the Chrysler Engine Red.
  16. Whatever did happen to the MPC '68 Impala molds? The chassis might have ended up in the 69+ kits but no way the '68 body could be altered to a '69+. I don't recall that the '68 Impala was ever turned into a custom (the sad fate of too many MPC annual tools in those days), but maybe I'm forgetting something. For that matter, what became of their '66 Bonneville molds? I can't recall any subsequent use of that one, either.
  17. I'm planning to do both the box art custom and the racer, and do them both using as many original 1966 parts as possible (except maybe tires), but the racer will have a '65 body shell because that's what I have on hand. (The major difference is the emblem on the deck lid, and the FI emblems on the '65 front fenders, both of which I'm planning to keep "just because.") I also have a fairly nice one that will be restored to factory stock, and I might have enough parts and pieces left over to build one as a drag racer, too. I'd love to build '66 Corvettes using ALL the cool custom and racing parts in that wonderful old kit!
  18. Scored another AMT annual '66 Vette roadster off eBay over the weekend, it came today. Not perfect or complete by any means, but the body is overall in good shape with emblems intact and complete (body never painted). The windshield frame is gone but that's okay because I wanna do it as the box custom with the cut-down, frameless windshield which I have an extra of. And the rocker panels are perfect! I'm gonna cut them off and use the high-zoot custom side exhausts in their place, but I I have a couple other AMT '66 Vettes with glue-roached rockers and these will sure come in handy. (I once spent three whole evenings trying to save the rockers on a body. After a lot of work, got them to where I could just barely use them, but these will be SO much better.)
  19. My guess is that the Pontiac is true 1/24, and the Caddy is slightly undersized at maybe 1/26 or so. Even so, it still looks better than most of JADA's stuff, which is more like 1/22 and looks awful on a shelf with 1/24-25 stuff.
  20. Bigdrag, FABULOUS rebuild! Well done and model on! GTX, I too have a Maverick glue bomb just like yours in the Snakepit. Mine's not nearly as nice as yours, and will need to be completely redone, though. Keeping my eyes open for a suitable shade of yellow. (I think I already have the Slixx decals--will have to doublecheck.)
  21. Absolutely! Clean it up, fix it up, display it proudly! It's where you came from!
  22. One year, WHAT? All the BBC 396-427-454s from 1965 till some point well into the '70s--as well as many, maybe even most small blocks, were that wonderful shade of Chevy Engine Red. I wonder why they went with Olds Engine Blue, as there's not much to use it on, but it's a great generic medium metallic blue and I've done several models in it.
  23. I had to look her up. To save wear and tear on everyone else's google, she's Dog the Bounty Hunter's wife. 51 is too young.
  24. This thread also explains what's wrong with the ex-MPC '69 Camaro body (their Firebird has the same flaw, for the same reason):
